Subject: RE: Star-K Ask the Rabbi Request

There are two types of shavers on the market.  There is the straight-edge foil shaver, and there is the rotary shaver with three rotating heads (such as the Norelco shavers).
Rabbi Heinemann is of the opinion that all straight-edge foil shavers cut hair with a scissors action and are included within Rav Moshe Feinstein's heter to use shavers, but not all rotary shavers are included.    Whether or not any particular rotary shaver is included within the heter would depend upon the sharpness of the cutting blades in the rotary head.  If the blades are sharp enough that they would be classified as a razor and not as scissors, those blades would not be included in the heter and would need to be slightly dulled before using the shaver.
Rabbi Heinemann is not concerned about the lift and cut mechanism.
The Braun series nine is a straight-edge shaver, which is fine.

The following Halacha Questions ask the rabbi form has just been submitted from your site.

Question: Is the Braun series 9 shaver acceptable to use?

I had one free day in my account, while checking one way rental  it gave unlimited miles. I converted it to a code and now it shows a charge for mileage for same trip. Is that normal?

Re: Weddings in next few weeks
so many small weddings going on and i literally cry by each video.  its less than what they did in the old shtetl.  barely minyan for bentching. and there is nothing we can do about it.  many couples are taking it in stride. but some looked like they were on the verge of crying   :'( :'( :'(
This is worth crying over?! Bh they are getting married! Hopefully everyone will stay healthy. With the zchus of not having blood on their hands, by not perpetuating the spread of the virus, they can go and build a bayis neman.

So are you saying that you can own one at home and transport it to the range?
If so how do you transport it? What if you can pulled over?
Correct. In nyc need to keep unloaded and separate from ammo. Put in the trunk in a portable case and no issues.

Re: Corona virus and your shul
Stop accusing thousands of yidden of not caring to do what is right. Because you don't like minyanim doesn't mean they are not right. Many thousands of people are currently b"h  davening btzibur in a safe manner with porch minyonim and such.
Many of the minyan haters are people that were lax about minyan before this started so they have no appreciation for the importance of minyan.
Yup. All the Rabbiís who are against these porch minyanim, probably missed shachris with minyan 2 times a week. I mean itís tough to get out if bed, i know the struggle, know what Iím saying?

Re: Corona virus and your shul
Yep, but it's not my village, so I sit here and virtually yell through a screen.
It is my village. I donít know of any ďillegalĒ minyanim taking place. But according to some on this board, the rabbiís, and most people in our community, never davened with minyan beforehand anyway, so...🙄

I'm trying to digest switching a Rov for not doing as you understand.
I know there's different ways to look at it. I just need to process
Firing? Itís his shul?! What hv means, is that he will no longer be davening there, as he doesnít respect a safek rotzaich

Re: Corona virus and your shul
In order for me to judge my rov I need to be on his level.
If I can judge it not a relationship from a Rov to a talmid
Iím sorry, but if a person loses repect for his Rov, whether heís justified or not, itís time to find somewhere else.

Re: Re: 5 Towns/Rockaway Master Thread Fyi, arguably the biggest talmud chacham in the Far Rockaway 5 towns neighborhood, is on the forefront of the no minyan faction. I donít understand the need to belittle someone by taking away his Rabbi title, and calling him Billet, throughout a post. We are all fed up, with being cooped up in our homes, and are chomping at the bit to get back to minyan, and normal activities. You can disagree, with something someone says, without the rest of the disparaging remarks.

Re: 5 Towns/Rockaway Rabbonim Ban All Minyanim Due To COVID-19 (Split Topic)
Other than that one individual (which left a terrible taste in my mouth) I am glad that the rest of us saw him for what it was. Assuming this is at all a sample of the community I am glad that most of us are responsible, mature and educated (Including self-education) on things that count.

Makes me incredibly proud to be part of this community.

And Iím proud as well, even though my Rabbi paskened, that we may daven with a porch minyan. I donít feel the need to cram his psak down everyoneís throat. Everyone should do what their Rabbi says, without the disparaging remarks made by both sides of the argument, in this thread.

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
Who are "these"?
The people rioting and looting. And the word people, is being rather loosely applied. Black, white, brown, doesnít matter.

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
Is looting the same as rioting?
No. they are 2 words.

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
Translation: I can't dispute the peaceful protest at the WH so lets try and distract.  :)
peaceful protest is mostly a farce. Itís possible that there is a minority, that actually are peaceful. I donít care about Trump, or the white house or any of that. Anyone that is excusing these ďpeaceful protestsĒ is   lying to themselves. This cannot be justified.

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
When you have post after post mocking or making fun of the situation it gets hard to tell.
I said I wasn't serious with that post. I will put my record on racism against any member here.
I donít know whether you are a racist or not. I trust you when you say you are not. Iím not mocking anything besides for the idea, that all the protest are peaceful. Yes the cops should be arrested, and stand trial. Yes there are lots of racists in America. No, these protests, and riots are nothing more than an excuse, by bad individuals to steal, and think that they are going to get away with it. It has zero to do, with a black man being killed by police.

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
I am confused. The original story was because of curfew. Not that was called out for the BS it was we now have another version.
Anyone looking for a bridge?  :)
Is this how it works. Anything you disagree with, is bs? Ok then. :)

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
We are up to version 3 of the story.  ::)
yup amazing how it turned from peaceful protest, to largely peaceful. Just amazing

Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
Ok got it.
I mostly agree. I would separate looters and rioters. Those smashing windows and stealing would be rioters IMHO. They are the worse of the worse.
So your saying that the entire premise for your argument is based on semantics? What you call Rioters, and what someone else calls looters are the same thing.

June 02, 2020, 06:41:35 PM
Re: Violent protests erupt across the country
Again which argument. I always separate rioters and looters. There is a big distinction between the two. There is also various degrees of looters as in the current discussion about the girl stealing clothes.
Not sure that most people on this forum donít agree with you. When people are referring to ďanimalsĒ and i do not condone the use of that word, they are largely referring to the people that are smashing windows, and beating up random people and store owners. Anyone taking advantage of the situation, and following up after the thugs are done, are just plain criminals, or people that are using poor judgement and committing a criminal act. I highly doubt that most people on here, or anywhere would condone shooting of people who ran into a store, after the perpetrators cleared out.

Re: Do you know someone who has had Coronavirus after Pesach?
Lol, now you trust Fauci?
Anyway, he said it's not likely for a period of time. That will vary among different people I'd assume.
What he says about reinfection might be possible. That being said, Boro park and Williamsburg havenít ever really been closed, but definitely been open for the past 6 weeks. No masks, no social distancing, and I havenít heard of a single case of reinfection. I honestly havenít heard of any new cases at all. One would imagine, that if reinfection was prevalent, this would have happened by now.  Now itís possible that it may take longer, but right now what he is saying is highly suspect. Itís difficult to let go of the spotlight, once the 15 minutes of fame are up.

Re: Pence Vs Harris 2020 Debate I vote Republican. I dislike Trump the person, and think he is going to lose. Pence was terrific, and Harris was terrible. I truly donít understand how anyone on the left can say with a straight face that she won. They are saying it, and then immediately start talking about the fly on penceís head, and the fact that he has pink eye, which is a sign of covid. Honestly doesnít matter who won, as itís not going to tip the scales to Trump, I donít understand why we cannot get honest responses where the media will look at this and say, Pence won, so what. I understand that talking heads like maddow, are going to go down with the ship on this, just like hannity would, no matter what happened. But why canít anyone from cnn, abc, nbc etc just come out and say it?

Re: Czar Cuomo
Not even at first, it took a good couple of weeks. And there were pockets of non-compliance throughout. So the guy said never when he should have said 90% of the time? This is the hill we want to die on? His point stands: the rules were barely followed at all over the last 7 months. That doesn't justify what's happening now, but let's not pretend we've been a model of good behavior.
Donít you live in Florida? How would you know what did or did not happen in Ny. Most of the NY shuls, schools and stores were closed for 3 plus months. You must be getting your information from the news.
