Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others The confusion is, a ponzi scheme as we know it, involves something like maddoff, pure fiction. @YesThatsMe is arguing that it was a legit business. Borrowing from A to pay B and keep business afloat is done every day in corporate america..

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others :( businesses should live by "yehi mamon chaveirecha chaviv mishelcha"

People, there's no easy way to get rich, I always tell people about risks and they laugh me off.

I paid off 250k in debt from a business collapse and don't how I had that strength.

It's also given me a lifetime avoidance to owing people money.

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others
The problem may be more the underlying attitudes that got them into the mess than the mess itself

I got myself into huge cc debt and someone who I'm forever grateful to help me pull out.

I'm not a spendrift, I just spent a long time on a very profitable contract that didn't pan out, I ignored my cards and was paying 600 a month in interest

Now I bust my butt every month to pay the interest free principal transfer.

I drive the cheapest car I could lease, my phone is old, I try not to drink anything but cheap good wine lol and my biggest expenses are travel related mostly funded by points from healthy churn.

And looking back, I don't think anyone should get married without a clear handle on finances..

I know when I iyh marry I will approach 1 friend who is a top CPA and a group of friends who are very successful investor's and have them invest my wedding funds as a trust for my kids education.

I've thought it out and recognized priorities

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others
I was recently approached by someone who wanted to start such a scheme
1)according to him most suppliers charge a about 3% surcharge for paying by credit card.
2) his plan was to do a 57 day cycle reducing the number to about 18%
3) he wanted to split the points (not in half), lowering it to about 12%, thus making it cheaper than hard money. (I told him there's no one that would agree to such terms, to which he claimed he already has such a group)
4) he also wanted to take advantage of some sort of statement credit for buying Apple.
5) he completely agreed that if the numbers were 36%, that clearly means that that person can't even get a hard money loan, and in no way shape or form should you be giving this person money.
6) his pitch was very clearly supposed to sound like an investment. Giving people the "opportunity" to invest money even if they don't have any. As if he was doing some sort of favor for everyone.

I pretty much told him to go jump in a lake and there have been ppl screwed already.. he's like what do you mean "I'm a frum guy, I live in the community, this is where I daven..."

while a terrible idea his points are legit. Except, it should be his cards.

Re: RIP/BDE Master Thread Yup, it's really sad to see them die out. I chrish the memory of shaleshudos tishim with rabb grosz and Reb shlomole and the beirach Moshe and when the survivers sang "gam ki eiliach b"gai tzalmuves" you could really feel their fearless walking in hell.

I've had 29 surgeries, but in my head I hear them sing "ki ata hashem imudi"

How they retained their faith after everything?!? How they rebuilt their lives with emuna and simcha?!?

Re: Vaccine Discussion Master Thread

You do realize that black plauge killed most of the world?

"The Black Death, also known as the Great Plague or the Plague, or less commonly the Black Plague, was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Eurasia and peaking in Europe from 1347 to 1351...""

"The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30% to 60% of Europe's population.[7] In total, the plague may have reduced the world population from an estimated 450 million to 350375 million in the 14th century.[8] It took 200 years for the world population to recover to its previous level.[9][10] The plague recurred as outbreaks in Europe until the 19th century.."

Not related but it just shows how modern medicine like antibiotics and quarantine etc saves millions bh and how stupid some are or misguided.

People are just so stupid, if you read history and see that parents had 14-17 kids with few if any surviving?!? That the average person didn't reach 40. If you did reach 40 you were considered old..

Don't want to vax, go live in isolation. But non vaxxers who spread diseases are rodfim.

It's causing enourmess chilul hashem. Brings us back to the dark ages when Jews were falsely accused of spreading disease, in this case they are guilty. ..
