Re: Useful Bookmarklets (browser bookmarks that do cool things) I just created a bookmarklet that will make a DD link from any amazon item page, and format it with the title so you can paste it into a DDF post.

Here's the code:
Code: [Select]
javascript:(function(){

    var pattern = new RegExp("(https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/).*([dg]p\/)(?:product\/)?(..........).*", "i");
    var match = location.href.match(pattern);
    var URL = match[1] + "dp/" + match[3] +"/?tag=cl03f-20&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER";
window.prompt("Press control-c","[url="+URL+"]"+document.title+"[/url]");void(0);

})()

As a reminder, to create a bookmarklet, right click on your bookmarks bar and click "Add page" (if you're in Chrome) or "New bookmark" (Firefox).

For the Name, enter whatever you want (eg: Dan Amazon link), and for the URL/Location enter the code posted above.

Maybe a mod can add it to this thread: When Posting Amazon Deals, Please Make A DD Link

It might need a little tweaking, so let me know if you have a link that it doesn't work on.

Re: Combined Inbox for Email (PC)
Hi All,

I have multiple email addresses and some are IMAP and some are POP. I'm having trouble combining them all into one inbox, for convenient viewing, on Microsoft Outlook (2007).

Can someone guide me on how to do this in Microsoft Outlook or perhaps recommend a desktop or web based application that can provide this convenience for me? I am willing to pay for such an inbox.

An important point though, when replying to an email in this inbox, I must be able to send it from any of the subscribed email accounts.

Many thanks,
MeilechE
You can't combine POP and IMAP into one place AFAIK, unless you set them to forward to one and have the inbox program sync (IMAP) to that one.

What might work is to have them all forward to a gmail account, and you can set up that gmail so it can send from any.

If you want a desktop app:

I've found that Outlook and IMAP doesn't always work well with gmail. You can try it, and if it doesn't work and you still want to use Outlook, you may want to pay for a google apps account. Then you could use Google Apps Sync for MS Outlook, which works very well.

Or you can look into gmail offline apps, i've seen them mentioned on DDF before but don't remember where.

Oh, I didn't even know that :) I was referring to the REGEXREPLACE formula where you tell it a cell, the regex to look for in there, and the string to replace it with.

Re: Jokes Master Thread A non-Jewish fellow named Brett walked into a Jewish bakery and smelled the fine smell of challah baking and couldn’t resist and had to have one. He brought it up to the cash register.

“Ninety five dollars,” said the attendant.

“Ninety five dollars!” Brett replied, flabbergasted. “How can that be?”

“Five dollars goes for the challah and ninety dollars goes to support Israel,” the attendant replied.

Not wanting to look like he didn’t support Israel and desperate to try the challah, Brett agreed.

The next week Brett was passing the bakery again and couldn’t help himself and came in. He saw a bobka that looked particularly appealing and the challah had been so good, he took it up to the cash register.

“Two hundred and twenty five dollars,” said the attendant.

“Two hundred and twenty five dollars?!” Brett replied. “You must be joking!”

“Five dollars for the bobka and two hundred and twenty goes to Israel.”

“But I just want the bobka,” Brett replied. “If I want to give money to Israel, that should be my choice.”

“If you don’t want to support Israel, we don’t want your business,” replied the attendant.

Brett was in a jam, he of course did support Israel…and he really wanted that bobka…so he paid the money. And it was worth it.

The next week Brett was walking by the bakery again, and while he should have known better, he walked in and this time his eyes locked in on the most delicious looking rugelach he had ever seen. He ordered a dozen and went to the cash register.

“Four hundred and fifty dollars,” said the attendant.

“What?!”

“Five dollars for the rugelach and four hundred and forty five dollars for Israel,” replied the attendant.

“Listen to what you are saying!” said Brett. “It doesn’t make any sense. How do you even stay in business?”

“That’s the way we do things. If you don’t like it, you can leave,” said the attendant.

“I want to talk to the manager. This is crazy,” said Brett.

“Have it your way,” said the attendant. He turned around and yelled into the back of the store, “Israel, this guy here wants to talk to you!”

Re: Amazon DD Bookmarklet: Have Chrome Make A DDF Friendly Link On Amazon WIKI UPDATE:
@JoeyShmoe did a great job creating a Chrome Extension and a Firefox Extension to save us all the hassle of setting up a bookmarklet. The extension will place a button on any Amazon product page. When you click the button it will copy a link to your clipboard, which you can paste into any DDF post. The post will then contain the product title, image, and a working link to the product.

Thanks @JoeyShmoe!

Re: The New DDMS!
Let's say we came up with a way to display prices in a different format (not just in the title) - What structure would you like to see?

Was: $99.99 Sale: $59.99
or
Sale:  $59.99 Save: $40

or another format?
First is better than second. I would make it look like Amazon does, because that's what people are used to

Re: Macy's 25% off and free ship no min sitewide! 15 appliances for $9.99 after MIR
Yes, I'm horrible when it comes to using those words.

 Like when to use they're and when there and when their and when you're and when your..
you're is only when it's short for "you are", otherwise it's your.
they're is short for "they are" (as in, "they spent so long looking for Prime deals that they're going to be tired tomorrow". "there" is referring to a place (as in "here and there"), and "their" means "belonging to them" (as in, "they ate their snacks on the bus").

I understand that as a request to make Dan's  jobs easier (to keep the membership costs down).

But EXG- this is a real rule.
-No cross-posting.  Do not make the same post on 2 different boards or threads.

 ;D ;D ;D
It's the same reply, to two different posts. Thus it shouldn't be a cross post.

Is it a cross post every time someone posts "+1" on more than one thread?
