Re: KSML (Kosher Airline Meals) Master Thread UA TLV-SFO
Class: Y!

GS Manager and Hamasbia Mashgiach came to my seat to call me to the J Galley.
"Hi is it your Birthday" (someone must have told them, Wife claims no responsibility)
"We have these 2 platters of fruit and cakes for you to enjoy, feel free to let us know when you want them"
No Kosher tape or anything, guess that's why the Mashgiach came on board?

Trip reports X25 PLEASE!
Most of the important information I've commented in other threads, eg. South Africa, Barcelona lounge KSML, EWR Art lounge KSML, Schmoozy in TLV
LAS: Conferences and meetings (do you want to hear about the packed kosher lunch) Ace of Steaks is great
Other US locations: Do we need a report  ;D
South Africa - nothing that isn't covered in that thread, or I haven't updated in the wiki
Moscow, London, Berlin, Athens, Zurich, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Delhi - I think others have covered
Lagos and Accra - true, been a few times, needs a report
Bogota - ok, will try work on a report
KTM - yip, will try report, didn't go as a backpacker and advice for business is certainly different
TLV: Is a new report required?

Re: South Africa Master Thread
Car rental/car hire from Cape Town/CPT: has anyone been able to waive CDW and/or make use of primary car rental insurance benefit on a Chase card – or secondary car rental insurance on AmEx?

- Budget website for CPT airport says CDW is mandatory and can't be waived.

- AVIS website for CPT airport says CDW is optional.

- Any other suggestions? Worth it to just splurge on car rental company's insurance?
Rented from Avis, Hertz and Europcar in 2019 - got CDW waived with Chase from all 3 but they did put a "hold" on my card at Europcar.
However it depends how you book the rental. If you booked with CDW included at time of booking you'll have a hard time revising the rental.

Worth going or overrated?
Been a few times and still think basically all the same chicken with a different sauce.
Thank you @cdlaz ! For AVIS, did you book at the counter, or online? (I have a reservation online in advance of upcoming travel - not prepaid, no option to waive CDW online, but booked through AVIS Preferred and next to CDW reservation says "FREE.")
Online but from the US site.

Re: Israel Reopening Ben Gurion, Still Closed To Most Foreigners
1. For this with teudat machlim or teudat chisun, no ishur is required
2. I don't think you need a test to leave
HOWEVER your destination country may require a test, some need it 72 hours before departure והמחמירים before arrival.
There is also talk of mandatory rapid testing before all departing flights

Re: Israel Reopening Ben Gurion, Still Closed To Most Foreigners
Please post any data points you here of people showing up at the airport with no approvals

I flew EWR-TLV on Thursday
PCR test done in NYC, was checked at UA checkin, unable to upload it or check in via the app. Needed an agent to verify it at the counter.  That was all.
Usual, Clear, TSA-PRE, took a few mins, very empty.
No Polaris lounge yet. The agent stamped my boarding pass to get "free drinks, as many as you want at the bar"
Now for the fun....
Boarding was at gate C123 however, first there was a line, took me 38 minutes, of documents checks at gate C121.
There, all they wanted to see was my Israeli Passport and the "Entry form" Note, not the email wording, rather, the PDF which is a printout of all the fields entered in the form.

THERE WERE 2 denied boarding: 1) Expired Israeli passport - he was shouting "so what, I'm an Israeli citizen, they'll deal with me in Israel, don't worry about it United" 2) Didn't have the entry form.

Arrival in Israel, passports control via the automated machines, luggage claim, seemed like everyone had bags scanned by customs. PCR test, note: save time and get an "appointment before" via: check2fly.co.il with code "free1" (there were also staff walking around in the luggage claim area telling people to register for a test) and get a QR code.  PCR test took a few mins.

Total 43 mins from landing to leaving the airport with a cab

Re: Israel Reopening Ben Gurion, Still Closed To Most Foreigners
Thanks for the great info!
Where is the arrivals PCR done?  Do you have to go all the way to Tamar gate like with the departures test?  And how strict are they about the appointment time (i.e. if the flight is delayed, do I have to make a new appt.)?

Were there additional document checks in Israel (PCR results, etc.)?
PCR tests were done in the "tent" next to zone G of arrivals. ie, exit customs and turn left (can't go right, it's boarded up)
Not strict, I entered my scheduled arrival time.  I think for now (may change in the future) it's to save time entering your details at one of the desks/booths.  I had a QR code already in my phone and was directed to the very short line to get stickers printed for the test.

No documents at all, no Vaccination certificate or entry form.  Maybe it's all connected via the passport and ID number. If so, well done to the Israeli government offices on streamlining.

Re: Israel Reopening Ben Gurion, Still Closed To Most Foreigners
That was quick - 15 minutes and the English translations are on the meuchedet App

My DP, used the local Macabi, made appointment via the app. When taking the test she asked why, I said for work (not a lie, travel was for work) and results in 10 hours. English test result in the app, no email or special translation. Only catch is to make sure they have your correct English name in file. If not, it needs to be updated in the כוכב system. UA check in at TLV accepted the מכבי pcr in English. Free, 10 min walk from home.

Re: Israel Reopening Ben Gurion, Still Closed To Most Foreigners
When landing in tlv do you have to pay to take a covid test?
No, you register on https://check2fly.co.il/ - enter personal information, make an appointment around the time of your flight arrival and print a QR code- all this saves waiting in line to register for a test
On the check out page you'll see "The discount code for arrivals to Israel is: free1"
