Re: Scammed by a DDF'er on the DD forums!
Hence the chargeback.

Right. "Hi, Amex. I paid $13 for DDSCLE and I enjoyed the refreshments, learned ways to earn $5K each year, and ways to save an additional $20K on vacations.
However, I only met AussieBochur and one of Dan's brothers so I'm not satisfied with DDSCLE and need to do a charge back."    ::)

that article's study was done on children up to age 6. The abuse in our communities continues to occur over the age of 6, unfortunately and results in harmful outcomes.

Drinks and apps are the way to go at Bison and Bourbon, and they are some of the best I've had. Skip the entrees...

The "Basil fries" with Parmesan cheese is very good.

Re: Bingo wholesale club in Brooklyn
I was there today it's 9.99

good. B"H. The Schmerling chocolate was on sale for $1.99 pre-Purim. Same for pre-Pesach?

Re: Bingo wholesale club in Brooklyn
Now it's 1.89
excellent price! Very good Pesach food.

Re: Bingo wholesale club in Brooklyn

great deal at 16.6 cents per bottle KFP. Worth a trip there for that, the $1.89 Schmerlings selection, the nice vegetables and fruit selection (cheap kiwi and mango), potato starch, grape juice, etc...
I was just there purim; much more and better items now, i'm sure.

Go izzys.

Izzy's is great, I knew that you'd like it there. Great quality taste and food. The smoked ribs and BBQ chicken are fantastic.

Re: Carribean Islands (Which One?) Master Thread
Originally posted in Cancun master thread as directed, seems more appropriate here. Hope not a major forum violation (still new to this).

Looking for destination advice in the Caribbean Islands/Cancun area.
Important factors: Direct flight under 5 hours (only 3 day trip), nice but secluded beach area (couple is careful about tznius), water activities, good value, not too touristy, kosher products either available or can be brought in (not necessarily a restaurant), and other activities (i.e. rain forest/hiking, zip-lining or other).
Other advice: Resort stay or house/cottage rental, specific activities, and car rental or not.

Thanks in advance

St. Thomas has a lot of the things that you mentioned -- mostly on the other side of the island, away from where the cruise ships dock.

Re: Chabad Minhagim: Pros & Cons
For that you'll have to do more intense studying, the purpose of your creation should not be learned via forum imho

...perhaps it's the purpose of the DDF forum...  8)  to spread this knowledge and to elevate these items into Gdliness.

I thought it was to sell chocolate chips

.....haaa..... funny,
actual purpose of creation is for us to care for all Jews and to elevate the high-sourced sparks that are hidden in materialistic and mundane places.

So, yes, caring for Jews who need quality parve Belgian chocolate, plus to elevate the cocoa beans and make a bracha -- that's all part of elevating the mundane and materialistic.   ;)

Re: Rome Master Thread
That's Boccione.

We ate there. I just found a website about them (they don't have their own -- it's literally a corner shop), and I think that they told us that they have a dairy oven and a pareve oven.
Worth asking again, I suppose for pareve confirmation. It is a quick and simple culinary experience of eating fresh baked hot crunchy biscotti ends that seems to be a "must do" in Rome. At least once you taste them then if you really like them your wife can make more at home:

Re: Silent Killer
He tells a very different story than the above letter even though both are meant to be the perspective of the parents. One wonders it it's the same story.

it's possible that the second story about "yaffa" was another part of the story. i.e. the first day of school when she tried to attend the next school after she was kicked out of the first one.

I agree 100% about the concern of the influence of other children that could seep in via classmates, however this case was not including foul language, negative attitude, or intentional bullying or rebelling.

Re: Silent Killer
Never gonna happen because of the stigma. Shidduchim etc.

once we can treat a physical, chemical imbalance, or a predisposition to addiction with the same approach as a broken arm or sprained ankle that needs medical treatment, casting/wrapping/support/therapy/healing, and treatment plus prevention from future injuries, then all of Klal Yisroel can be more healthy and confident.

Keeping these conditions quiet and repressing them will only make shidduchim worse (if we can reach that age before becoming addicted or a victim), and can also harm and put at risk one's future children, family, and friends...

Re: Bingo wholesale club in Brooklyn
Just went to Bingo for the first time. Order total was 684. Exact same order in Moishe's was 812. Not a bad savings.

Also wide, clean aisles, friendly management, huge selection (of nosh), great produce, quick checkout, and decent amount of parking.   :)

Re: Law School
Early decision helps, just make sure you are happy with Penn, and won't be upset when Harvard calls you and you have to explain how you are already commited, like happened with someone I know.

A BTL can be a good thing, if you have a good story to go with it...

and if your recommendation letters are of best quality and well-written.

Re: Thomy Mayo in the US
Very well made! Big carts, large aisles and long registers. The prices are cheaper on most items and okay on others. I grabbed really nice tuna steaks for $7.99/lbs (usually pay $14.99, $11.99 on sale) and the "baby" salmon fillets were the same price.

yes, I purposely visited in early afternoon on a Tuesday and it was a pleasant experience with wide, clean aisles, helpful staff, great cut up fruits and vegetable prices and excellent shelf-stable products. In my opinion I would do all weekly shopping there if I was a resident, other than meat and chicken...

Re: Law School
I've heard the idea thrown around.  Maybe not.

I mean, what's the commute from Monsey to CLS? Longer than that.

monsey to CLS could be public transport, and you can daven/multitask, however if driving-in daily from Lakewood can be challenging.

Re: are parents enslaved to yeshiva?
I'm a consumer and I chose my kids school. It's a fantastic school that fosters educational growth, a quality Torah education and a warm environment. It's hard to pay for but it's worth every penny. If I didn't think it was worth it, I would find another solution.

Many people feel trapped in the local school, but the truth is that there are options. Even if there is only one school in town, you can homeschool, move, hire a tutor, send to public school or commute. I'm sure there are other options people can think about.

The cost of tuition is the largest burden for most people I know. At least make sure that you are getting good value.

And that is exactly where the priorities are -- how we determine the "value of education". If that is held above nice cars, restaurant meals, and Pesach vacations, then it's a top priority. for the author of the "$40K jew" article, quality Jewish day school education may be a different value.

nice. Succos it's like a Home Depot there; Purim it's like Costume World (and nosh world), and Shavuos is like a Dairy Queen. Constant transformation. That monthly switch, plus low prices will keep it alive for a long time.  :)

Re: Rubashkin freed from prison.
All I did was answer a question. Why bring in this trash?

he was not guilty of the crimes that the raid was based on. Cleared of all charges. No illegal hiring. No drugs.

Only after a month of paying 3x salaries to new unskilled workers in the aftermath of the raid, did he need to go out and take a loan based on the value of his property. NOBODY gets 27 years for that. Nobody is being hurt. Bank is 100% fine with his repayment plan.

This 27 year sentence by the judge (above the prosecution's request) was pure anti-Semitism and she was too involved in the prosecution's case to be able to be an unbiased judge from the beginning.

Any hotels in surfside/bal harbour area that could work for shabbos?

there is an in depth discussion here about the non-electric front doors and steps for the Residence Inn in Surfside. Manual key options, as well.
This thread has the details listed within the last 10 days.
(Also, the SPG points that are transferred 1:3 to Marriott work at this hotel.)

It would be good to have this new one as the master thread -- starting today, April 16 is when all the facts are official. Before that is just rumors and speculation.

Re: Master Thread of Discussion on Marriott / SPG Merger
Been reading back a few pages, with same household transfers gone from the SPG website, any way to combine (free pref) my points with my spouse to top off? I know I can transfer from UR or purchase, but looking to use her existing starriott points alongside mine, only need about 20k

it seems that they may be allowing 100K per year for Marriott to Marriott transfers, only.

Tesla Master Thread This is fascinating -- especially since these multi-level glitches came from an actual high-tech company:

The best part would be if your whole "Dan'sDeals" name was on listed as your user ID their forums instead of just "Dan". This would be huge PR and exposure!

Not luxurious wouldn't bother me but it has a lot of bad reviews regarding cleanliness.

BWI area has several good options that you can book with points. It may be 20-25 minutes drive into Baltimore, however the extra 10 min may be worthwhile for you.
