Re: Hashgacha Pratis Stories can i put in a story? not as exotic as the other one but here goes:
my rebbi informed me in the beginning of one week he was making a shalom zachor that week in his house so i planned on going.

when I got to his block I didnt know which house it was (he lived on a block where all the houses look exactly the same :-\) so I guessed one house and went in and saw the shalom zachor going on with a few people so I was glad I made it.

I noticed my friend from yeshiva there too so we shmoozed. After a while I asked where Rabbi **** was- the baal simcha... and they said oh he lives next door maybe he didnt I said oh wasnt he making a shalom zachor ??? they said it was last week.... :o :o :o.(apparently I completely forgot about the shalom zachor for a whole week and only remembered a week later..that part is weird)
So what was going on this week? I had gone to my friends house actually and his brother had a baby right before Shabbos and didnt have a chance to get the word out so they were grateful that I had come to enhance their Simcha!! ;D ;D

wrong week
wrong house
worked out in the end ;)

Re: US Politics/2016 Election Pick Your Poison Master Thread
Amazing how some of you can never think straight.
(from Rep. Steve Scalise opinion article today)talking about people dont think straight.....

"Beginning with my own near-death experience at the hands of a deranged shooter who sought to assassinate a baseball field of Republicans, there is a growing list of violent or threatening actions taken against conservatives by Democrats.

Ashley Kavanaugh, Justice Brett Kavanaughís wife and his daughters received multiple credible threats.

Dana Loesch, NRA spokeswoman, received death threats against her children on Twitter.

Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., received such a threatening phone call that the man has now been indicted.

Jamie Gardner, wife of Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., wife, received a text of a beheading after the vote to confirm Justice Kavanaugh.

Several Republican Senators had their personal information, including home addresses, posted to Wikipedia for threatening purposes by a Democrat House staffer.

Congressman Clay Higgins (R-La.) received threatening phone calls that led to a manís arrest.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kent., and his wife Kelly Paul have both received credible threats that have led to arrests.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his wife, as well as White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, were chased out of restaurants.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was confronted by protesters and harassed out of a DC restaurant.

Rudy Peters, a Republican California Congressional candidate, was nearly stabbed while campaigning.

My office has continued to receive threats against my life that have led to arrests.

A female pro-life activist was violently assaulted by a man that has now been found guilty of eight counts of assault for this and similar incidents."

hey, I might see you there; if you see some wacky guy driving on the wrong side of the street youll know its me ;D

wicklow mountains, glendalough, powerscourt estates, Kilnkenny, is on my list (13 hr stopover). you can do closer things to dublin for a shorter trip such as Howth, Guiness factory, Jameson Distillery.

renting a car looks super cheap as far as ive seen.

Re: Nice Story another story that I read on Rabbi David Ashears daily Emunah email:

There was once a religious boy walking in the street in Bnei Brak. He saw a sign with a request to be tested for a bone marrow transplant. It was for a young man in grave danger who needed immediate help. This boy went for testing and was found to be a match. He asked the hospital if he could meet the boy that he was going to help and they agreed.

The two sat with each other for a long time talking. They connected, and the boy was so excited to help save a life. Afterward, he came home and told his father the great news - that he is going to save someone else's life. When the father heard the name of the young man that needed help, as well as his father's name, he forbade his son to go through with it. The son replied, "But, Dad, his life is at stake! How could we not help him?" But the father was adamant about it.

There was a Rabbi staying at their home at the time who tried to convince the father otherwise, but the father told the Rabbi, "I don't want to be spoken to about it. Please, leave me alone." This was around Pesach time and the Rabbi was by them for the Seder. At the end of the Seder, when the father just finished his fourth cup of wine, the Rabbi tried, once again, to convince him to save this boy's life.

At that point, the father opened up to the Rabbi and told him the reason of his refusal. He said he survived the Holocaust and the boy who needs this transfer right now, so desperately, is the son of a Holocaust survivor, as well, who he could never forgive.

This man knew how to make bombs, so the Nazis had him working for them. The father said, "On one occasion, he came into our barracks with a stick and started poking around. He poked hard at the ceiling and he broke it open and my son, who was hiding there, became exposed. He took my son and walked out. One minute later, I heard two gunshots fired and my world was broken. There is no way my son is going to help save this man's son's life."

The Rabbi replied, "But his son didn't do anything to you. Why should he suffer?" But the father wouldn't hear it. The Rabbi tried to convince him to at least talk to them, maybe there is some information he didn't know. And he finally agreed.

At the meeting, this other man told the father, "I have been hoping for years to find you. You see, that day, the Nazis found out there was a child being hidden in your barracks and they told me to go in and kill everyone there. I told them, 'No, I could easily just find the child being hidden and kill him.' I was meaning to save all of your lives. And when I took your son out, I was going to save his life, too, but there were two guards with me so I had to shoot them and run away. I ran with your son and I put him in a monastery for protection. The Nazis found me and beat me. They couldn't kill me because they needed my services, but they injured me to the point where I would never be able to have children. After the war, I went back to the monastery to get the boy and adopt him until I found you. This boy is really your son, and that's why your other son is a good match for the bone marrow."

Before i sit googling for 10 minutes, what's the easiest way to mirror laptop screen onto another laptop?
Using an HDMI cable? Or wirelessly? meaning what other settings do I have to change aside for clicking one of those F4 or F9 or was it F13...? Thanks guys.
probably too late but pressing the windows key+P you can easily pair another monitor w hdmi in seconds and thereís an option for wireless connectivity as well.

Is anyone familiar with hardware components: Iím looking to replace diodes in a tv. The diode Iím looking for is SR560 and when googling it the specs were 60V 5A SCHOTTKY diode type . I found one called SB560 DIODE SCHOTTKY 60V 5A . not SR
Whatís the difference? Is the voltage the most important part?

Re: 5 Towns/Rockaway Rabbonim Ban All Minyanim Due To COVID-19 (Split Topic)
Dear Members,

Many of you will see a letter from Rabbonim sent to certain Shuls throughout the community regarding the limited allowance of "porch and front yard minyanim" under certain specific guidelines.  Based on the current medical reccomendations of Rabbi Dr. Aaron Glatt and other experts in the field, I do not recommend creating or attending these type of minyanim at this time.  Although adhering to the exact guidelines set forth by the Rabbinic letter poses minimal risk for the spread of Covid 19, there remains several reasons to oppose the practice.  The Covid 19 virus poses a unique and novel illness which has yet to be understood by even the most knowledgeable doctors in the field of infectious diseases.  Questions regarding the communication of the virus and the immunity of those who have already "recovered" from it remain unanswered.  An inevitable "second wave" of outbreak is predicted by most medical experts.  It is yet to be determined what results a relaxing of our current lockdown will yield.  Minyanim create a potent risk based on our social nature.  Many of them have been established against the recommendations of the local Rabbonim, with good intentions, with the plan of safe social distancing, only to eventually inadvertently breach proper safety protocols.  A telling example of this can be seen in hospitals which have strict protocols put in place and knowledgeable medical staff yet still have social breaches that have led to disasterous results.  In addition, we are also well aware of cases throughout the Torah world where disregard of social distancing rules aroused the hatred of our non-jewish neighbors.  These minyanim will only serve to increase that hatred. Therefore, I do not recommend any creation or participation in these "porch," "front yard," or any other minyanim until further notice.  I look forward and pray for a time when we will be able to convene together and daven as a unified Shul in the near future.

Asher Stern
thank you for this , with an actual name,

..and this.

basically itís a good idea if you want to fool around with screen share and check out google maps street view of exotic islands or watch funny clips together, but thatís  assuming sheís down for that  . If sheís feeling awkward then weíre both awkward thereís nothing you can do. I tried playing hangman on whiteboard screen share it was cute but didnít last.
Basically if thereís a pause in the conversation you canít really look around at your surroundings and point things out bc sheís not there, so you end up just looking at each other-itís just really weird.

Re: POLL: Wedding expenses in the frum Community - BH for simchos? or out of hand?
I wonder what's worse from a religious perspective:

Spending excessive money on a religious-type article to show off = May show one appreciates important things, but can also cheapen the religious element by making it materialistic
Spending excessively on a non-religious item = Demonstrates ones priorities are off, but at least isn't in the religious sphere.

highly expensive striemel/menorah/atara vs Tesla/Volvo/Lexus
ive always believed if ur willing to spend money on a Volvo / lexus then spend the same proportion for a mitzvah.
