Re: Obamacare Master thread
Some more fallout from Obamacare.

NY insurer forced to increase premiums more than they actually wanted to:
This is so against the free market system, it is retarded that they can mandate all this...

Re: Obamacare Master thread
I have employer sponsored coverage, my wife and baby have Medicaid. I pay a $40 co pay to see a doctor (not to mention deductible and co-insurance) and my wife gets a $35 gift card in the mail for going to the doctor. Plus they even offer free transportation! Unbelievable.
They do that,  or at least say they do that,  because it saves them money in the long run. If you keep healthy and do preventive care you hopefully won't need the emergency room and they will catch things before they get big and cost them big, as well.

Re: Free OneWorld Ruby Status for 4 Months (Via AB Silver)
I have an update regarding this.  We won't be getting it.

It turns out that the offer was only for people registered with the "Xing" social media site (German competitor to LinkedIn), and for residents based in a specific list of countries.

Better luck next time...
Oh well. Do you have a source for this info? I'm assuming you do, I just want to know who it is.

Only if you book something that's at least double the value of the Travel bank.

Re: Amex waiting 6-10 weeks to issue 50% rebate on Business Platinum bookings! Seriously? This really kills it. Now it's going to be really impossible to make bookings for my wife and I. Going to have to wait until I make double the amount of points I need... That's not going to work in time... They really want to lose everyone to the CSR with any airline, and without having to lay out the points...

Re: EL AL to resume nonstop MIA-TLV service!
MIA is easily my least favorite airport in the world.
Curious why everyone says that. I was only in FLL once and in MIA once, I didn't notice any particular difference.  So I'm curious what factors in MIA's universal derision.

Re: Venice Master Thread
So based on DDF feedback (thx much) and other research, here's my tentative itinerary for a special anniversary trip in June. I'm looking for the chevra here to please tell me if I'm crazy (timing wise, finding air for this, etc.) or if this will be an amazing trip of a lifetime.

-NYC to VCE Wed, arrive Thu
-Venice Thursday thru Sun, currently booked at Boscolo Venezia but paying insanely there ($1k/nt via URx1.5 so 200k UR) so maybe will change it.
-Shabbos meals at Chabad/GamGam etc.
-Venice to Milan with train Sun afternoon (so we don't need a crazy early start Monday)
-Milan Sun night (not sure where)
-Milan to Zurich Monday via train & the amazing sounding Bernina Express panoramic cars. I know it's a long ride but it sounds so romantic and nice. See
-Zurich Mon (and maybe Tuesday) night
-Zurich-NYC Mon (or Tues) night

Thanks much y'all.
Maybe go to the Titlis on Monday, rather than staying in the city.

Re: WOW Air: TLV-NYC for $149 one way!
Still exists in the US on routes without nonstop LCC competition.
Not going to change anything in the TLV market until there's a nonstop competitor.

Come on...poking fun at the way he wrote the question is not fair. The substance is way more open to ridicule. How, prey tell, will the "taxes" be any different if you book them 8 weeks out vs. Booking them for 2 weeks out? אלה מאי your חקירה is פשוט coming from a place ofשתות

Re: united $75 work around is finally dead
It's actually surprising how long it lasted.
Maybe it's time to turn up the heat on the whole idea of a bogus close in fee. They should say thank you that they're not flying an empty plane..

Re: Switzerland Master Thread
If you're not looking to travel and want to stay in Zurich, you could do, ‹etliberg, Boat ride, Walk around the lake area, Bahnhofstrasse window shopping, Zurich zoo, Zurich Tram Museum, Botanical Garden... but if you are willing to travel a bit further out  Lucerne is beautiful, and it's about an hour and a half away, and Mt. Titlis or Mt. Pilatus, is about two and a half.
Uetliberg? That's a real mountain?  :P

Re: AmexTravel Plat vs Delta Flight
Thanks, called them and they said they can book the Delta flight through with system with points. They do charge a ~$40 per person service fee, but still good.
Try to ask them to waive it since their website was showing prices double than Delta.

Re: Please (Make and) Post your Kiddush Hashem-Honesty Story Great idea for a thread!  BTW, I recall a similar thread, but I may be wrong. Here's one from yesterday, I was shopping in a local grocery, and noticed I didn't get charged for an item because it came up as unlisted. I went back to have them charge it. As I was loading the car I looked over the receipt and I noticed that I was charged $1 for an item that is usually about $7. I went back in again to show the cashier that I was only charged a dollar. She scanned it again. It said the price was a dollar. I said that doesn't make sense, even if it would be on sale it wouldn't be that price. The manager came over and went in the office to check the price, and he updated the system to charge the correct price of $7.69. The cashier who was non Jewish was very impressed with the honesty and thanked me for being honest. Not that this should be a big deal, but sometimes little things that should be that way anyway,  get noticed.

Re: Points for tuition from school that does not accept cc?
Just curious if anyone has any brilliant ideas on this recently, school won't take vgc without charging me 3%, which they would charge me if I gave them a cc. Any ideas are welcomed?
One brilliant idea would be to change schools to one that doesn't charge 3% for paying tuition with credit cards. Preferably to one that charges a lot of tuition so you could rack up a ton of points in no time. Make sure to pay for your kids classmates' tuition as well so you could really rake it in...

Re: jersey care
Got a question, my kids are currently covered by jerseycare with the state, but now due to a status change, they're eligible to be covered by the county. My question is, what's the easiest and quickest way to do that? It's impossible to talk to anyone by the county and I've talked to people by the state and haven't really gotten anywhere, one said they'll send out any application and I still haven't received anything and it's been a couple months, another said they'll reach out to me but it might take up to 45 days! Does anyone know the best way to switch over? TIA
IME, nothing gets done until you go down to the office. They'll say you just have to wait for a response in the mail, but somehow you'll get the letter two days later...

PSA: Reselling Amazon Kindles For some reason Amazon attaches your Amazon Account to all Amazon devices bought with your account. So whoever buys it is able to order anything using your saved info. He can't change address without confirming a card, but he can use it to order digital items where the address doesn't matter. Don't ask me why Amazon does that, I'm pretty sure that they may be liable for fines for each violation of PII, but be sure to deregister your device.

Re: LG V30
For people that have old phone whose batteries die every 6 hours, and take 4 hours to charge.

Unlike phones now that last 12+ hours and take 20min to charge for the rest of the day if needed.
Batteries start losing their charge after an x amount of charges, especially when using high speed charging. For people who keep their phones for a while, this can be an issue.

I think a majority of readers understand basic Hebrew. It's the language in which we daven.
This belongs in the OTD thread, but IMHO if people knew basic Hebrew from a young age, there would be a smaller percentage of OTD. I do not think that is the cause, but that would definitely help people grow roots of their own at an early age.

Re: Medical Questions Master Thread
Can I bring in Trump and the tax bill?
No, they feed them random chemical and biological substances, which have clear dangerous side effects, and occasionally work, but frequently don't, and are sold by huge corporate conglomerates who have insiders in the FDA and who got a tax break last week.
Too late for that. 👆
