Re: Looking for a Nice and Cheap Getaway Yes very much! Though there is skiing- it is not the main point- it is Summer after all. The town has many great summer activities for the Family, for him, or for her. I warmly recommend it!

Also there is a yeshiva retreat there for adults and buchrim that makes the town magical for these three weeks.

(it begins Aug 7th.)

Re: Smoking Meats
Seems from my minimal reading that either a pbc or a quality smoker with some dry runs will quickly teach you how to maintain the temp u want

I have done the reading. However in a low quality offset smoker it is very difficult (maybe even impossible) to maintain 8 hours of temp... promise.

Anyway I am not going to try again until I get a real smoker. It hurts waiting brisket:)

Re: Prison Break
You got your wish (Yeshiva guys of the world rejoice).

I say leave it alone. It was good for one season, and that was when this sort of TV series was a novelty. It's mediocre by today's standards. Plus, the main character reminds me too much of Mike Ross whom I am utterly sick of.

makes me sad to hear that :'(

Bidding in Shul
I wanted to open the floor to discuss the methods shuls offer kibbudim and raise money.

In our shul we use the old fashion bidding method which seems to me like it can use an upgrade. I wont litigate the cons with the current system I just want to know if other communities have developed different ways to go about this process.

Re: Where we would be without hilchos yichud and halachic boundaries I am not going to stick around for the pilpul but I think the title says it all. Thank you Hashem for giving us the Torah and boundaries that go along with it. Whoever cannot see how great Hashem is for giving us such an important blessing will find him/herself in a problem.

Re: Will pay someone to write 2 essays for me in 24 hours
I mean, I understand the kid looking for someone else to write the paper, but the father supporting (and paying) for the effort?
I think the kid would be better off learning a little personal responsibility than always having Daddy swoop in to solve her problems. You won't be able to email her college professor/boss...

I, on the other hand am impressed with her dad showing her the ropes and taking her side even when she cannot accomplish it the straight way!

Right on dad!

Re: Will pay someone to write 2 essays for me in 24 hours
If you have to ask then I can't even tell

For starters someone cooking brisket hot and fast and thinking it's good is proof enough that anything said someone says is likely 100 percent wrong.

Re: How do U define yourself, what does it mean & how would you like to see your kid I define myself as a chosid. A chosid is a giver- from the Hebrew word chessed which means benevolence. A chosid is involved with giving sustenance to the Creator, by awakening jewish pride, jewish values in others. To draw Hashem's essence into Torah and into the world thus making the world a place worthy for Hashem's presence to dwell in His full Glory- in other words being a Giver. To give the Rebbe Nachas, as I am his soldier, his chosid.

As far as my kids, I want to see them do it better then me.

Re: Smoking Meats I did a minute roast yesterday. BH Came out great! I took it off when inside temp hit 151 and then about 20 min of resting. (3.5 hours on 240)

I did a 1 inch rib steak (aged 28 days) cooked on 225 till 135 internal temp. (no seer) and it was probably the best steak I have ever had...

I also did some ribs which came out great but nobody was hungry by then- what a shame...

It's not a piyut.
It's a mockery of the al hanisim using the same words and style, pretending to be equivalent.

ETA: It's not the worst thing ever. It just feels wrong so I will say so. Probably if it was given on Purim I'd say it's fine.

Good thing right and wrong is not based on your feelings...

Is it Halachically permitted to go swimming on Taanis Esther? Is it permitted to receive a professional massage on Taanis Esther? Reason for this fast is not aveilus for Bais HaMikdash, so I understand that showering and listening to music is ok.

I dont think you can because Taanis esther has a Happy ending

Re: RIP/BDE Master Thread
He was a human being and deserving of our compassion. But he made it onto this thread because he was famous, not because he was human, and (much of) what he was famous for is not good stuff. The fact that there are people in this forum who may look up to him (not for his overcoming struggle in life but for the agenda that he spent his life pushing) is precisely why I felt the need to speak up.

Hope this all makes sense.

You must be really enlightened. I am just so. so happy he his dead. He was a hater of israel- am yisrael and eretz yisroel. He should rot along with all the others.

Dude, you are out of line. Delete your comment and apologize.

I am the one who started the objection against Hawking even being mentioned in this thread.

If I offended you I appoligize that was not my intention. I am not at all apologetic for my being happy he is dead, nor do I object him being mentioned here. I need a place to express my gratitude for his demise.

The air quality is absolutely horrendous due to all the old cars and no emissions rules - you will be blowing black stuff out of your nose for a week. That alone would keep me from taking a newborn, personally.

Re: How much do I owe my friend? Value UR @ 1.3 and Hyatt was bought @ 1.8.

Then just convert everything to dollars. He paid $208 you paid $224

You keep 500 Hyatt which is $9. You keep his 182 which is $2.3 so you are in 213 and he is in 208. You owe him 2.5 dollars roughly.

You should have just bought more UR for 1.3 instead of buying hyatt.

Whats next...

In general protests are dumb, but this cause really affects hundreds of millions of people, not to mention significant parts of the world economy.

In the 20th century alone big government has murdered 100's of millions of people... The right to protest against your government is essential to democracy and it works (at times, to a degree)
