Please (Make and) Post your Kiddush Hashem or Honesty Story In light of all the recent negative coverage of the frum community I thought its important to make an extra effort to make a kiddush Hashem- especially in all honesty related matters.

Sharing your Kiddush Hashem or honesty story is in itself a Kiddush Hashem- and you are encouraging others to do the same.

I will start with my little story which occurred this week:

I dropped my Keurig water container and some of the parts fell off. I couldn't figure out how to reassemble the parts so I called Keurig customer service and the rep said as a courtesy they will send me a new water reservoir for free. (Cost about $30 on amazon) She asked for my shipping address and I actually cringed a little when I specified Lakewood as my town.

She said it would take 7-10 business days to arrive but I wanted a coffee now :)  so when I hung up the phone I tried again and was able to figure out how to snap back the parts and my Keurig was back in service!

My initial thoughts were- great! I fixed it and I will also be getting a free backup in case it breaks again! Surely a huge company such as Keurig won't care, and at the time it was really broken- so totally legit!

But then I thought again about all that's going on and remembered cringing when I mentioned 08701. I said to myself even if legally and Al Pi Halacha I'm perfectly entitled to take the free water container, I will still make an extra effort to be 1000% honest and in addition though there's only the slimmest chance I will get the same rep, maybe somehow it will get noticed and I can make a Kiddush Hashem.

I called back to cancel the free part and lo and behold I got the same rep! She said I remember you and thanked me for reporting that I had fixed it myself- and yes, she did cancel the free part shipment- but I'm still very happy I took a small step toward impeccable honesty and making a kiddush Hashem.

I hope this will be one of many stories to come.

Re: New Coin Deal Late Friday afternoon, the U.S. Mint released the following statements to CoinNews:

"Yesterday, the Mint catalog website had more than 150,000 unique visitors and 1.6 million page views in the first hour of sales of the American Eagle 2019 One Ounce Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin (19XE). For context, the catalog websiteís previous highest traffic and page views were for the Apollo 11 product launch, when we had 124,000 visitors in one day and 863,000 page views in one hour. We are pleased with the numismatic communityís response to this product. The volume of traffic did briefly slow down our site response. However, after the first two minutes we were able to process over 1800 orders per minute on average. Completed orders were processed until all inventory was sold. Additionally, we identified approximately 5% of traffic as coming from bots, including 3% of traffic from a single IP address, of which zero orders were processed."

"At the moment of launch, there were 99,000 people online and 4700 callers waiting to purchase the American Eagle 2019 One Ounce Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin (19XE). Completed orders were processed until all inventory was sold. We are constantly seeking feedback from our customers, and rest assured your voice is being heard."

Re: New Coin Deal
wish I wouldíve thought of that. How many reps do they have ?
They claim there were ď4700 callers waiting to buyĒ- if their lines can handle 4700 people waiting at once, their website shouldíve handled 150k.

Re: New Coin Deal
How to weed them out ?
Thereís no one rule, like many things itís a matter of knowledge and experience. But after a short while you can spot a fake a mile away.

Thatís why I donít recommend starting with eBay. Vcoins.com is a good way to start, itís a platform exclusively for vetted and approved coin dealers.

There are millions of coins there not just Jewish. (Greek, Roman, Byzantine to name a few). Search for Judaea in the ancient coin section to filter out Judaean.

Re: New Coin Deal Statement Regarding Sales of End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Gold Proof Coin (20XE) & End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Silver Proof Coin (20XF).

"The 2020 End of WWII 75th Anniversary American Eagle One Ounce Gold Proof Coin and the End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Silver Proof Coin were released for sale at noon ET on November 5. Release of these coins resulted in the highest website traffic we have ever experienced, which greatly exceeded our expected capacity.  This high volume caused website instability, and customers encountered error messages and in some cases were unable to purchase their desired product.  Due to extremely high demand, the American Eagle Gold Proof Coin became unavailable by 12:07 p.m.  We are pleased with the initial demand, but are also in the process of evaluating the various customer concerns and system constraints and/or failures we experienced.

We want to assure you that the United States Mint remains committed to providing the highest possible level of customer service, and regret any inconvenience or frustration this buying experience caused."

Re: New Coin Deal
Thoughts on the mayflower coin deal mentioned above?
Iím not an expert but think it can go either way. Have to be prepared to break even or even lose after selling fees. Unless youíre a bit of a collector so worst case donít mind holding. The V75 was pretty much a sure thing as itís a very popular series and you saw everyone tripping over each other to get it. But in general with these things if you donít know what youíre doing you may be left holding the bag.

Re: US Mint Coins For Sale (Individuals only)
And prices tank.
As they say strike when the iron is hot. According to one dealer market is way over flooded with supply from flippers and many collectors are staying away for now. Prices will probably drop further and stabilize when flippers are done and supply tightens up again. Of course itís anyoneís guess what the stabilized price will be.

Re: US Mint Coins For Sale (Individuals only) Guys, be a little realistic with your ask if you want to actually sell. Prices have dropped. If anyone here is still buying at 500+ please speak up.

New Coin Deal
Sorry to go off-topic, but from where I'm sitting it seems unbecoming to try and lower the price for what I can only guess is personal gain here on DDF. I for one sold one yesterday for over 12k as have multiple people here (today included) and completed Ebay listings are over 13k (high 11's after fees.) So to continue pushing the narrative that prices are cratering is very suspicious.

To me, these forums are an amazing and unique place to find and help like-minded people and its unfortunate to see this kind of behavior.
Itís unfortunate to see you accusing a like-minded person here. My information is also coming from actual sales of people buying at 10k and I also mentioned upthread that eBay is now netting in the 11k range after fees. Many people would rather sell privately for 10k cash in hand over eBay and risk getting scammed. The individual who said prices should be high was a seller, yet they are also entitled to present their opinions on why prices should be higher. Itís an open market and everyone can see what things are selling for which is why people should stick to the rules and post their ask/buy price and let the market dictate trading prices. Certainly with the V75 silver people are in denial that prices and buying demand has dropped significantly. Thatís a fact anyone can see. I have not seen any buying posts today or most of yesterday for anywhere near peopleís asking prices and most buying groups I know are not buying at all.

Can coins be returned to the mint? unopened
Yes, within 7 days of receiving (according their website). Although it may be a pain until your refund posts (as per some reports here)

Re: US Mint Coins For Sale (Individuals only)
I think its time for some IP matching. Understatement of the century.
Your allegations are simply ridiculous. I have no idea who that other guy is. Part of an open market is buyers and sellers presenting their case for why prices should be higher or lower. Nobody here is hiding their motives and everyone is entitled to voice their opinions. Many people here are first time buyers and have no clue how this market works. People donít know how grading works or arenít aware that there are cut off dates for first strike labeling etc and that dealers need time for holiday turnaround. I pointed out a few days ago that prices were falling and thatís exactly what has happened. Here, on eBay and everywhere else.

Youíre basically walking into an auction house and ďaccusingĒ the buyer of buyers bias. Do your own research and buy/sell to whoever gives you the best bid.

Re: US Mint Coins For Sale (Individuals only)
The V75 also took a while for it to go up to 12k
So everyone relax  :)

V75 instantly jumped and were getting snapped up on eBay, rising 1k an hour on first day. No comparison at all by a long shot.

Re: Re: Glenmorangie 18 Year Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky >$80 a bottle
According to people knowledgeable in kashrus, it's not a problem.
The casks give color, not taste, to the scotch.
Maybe point this out to the Star-K and cRC who donít seem to be very ďknowledgeableĒ

There are those that allow but as @dealmaster said, ask your LOR or be your own LOR if thatís how you operate. But at least be aware of the issue.
