Re: Greece Master Thread
Can anyone recommend a good way of doing this trip? My wife and I want to take 2 weeks in the summer to go to Israel, but she really wants to do a stop over for maybe 5-7 days in Greece. What would be the best way to book the flights? Would prob want to do 2 different stops in Greece (also looking for recommendations which 2 places in greece to stay) I would also be interested in 5 day trip information from Israel. Thinking about it for this summer. I went to crete for 5 days. I settled on crete as opposed to the many other islands mainly because of points hotel availability & ease of getting there. Flights - I was first checking the standard Priceline kayak… the options weren’t great price wise & scheduling. I was then directed to 3 Israeli deal sites bo nauf (בא נעוף), hulyo (חוליו) & daka90. Bo nauf does not have a website they have an app. Every wed morn at 9am Israel time (iirc) they release deals which are available for 24 hours. Hulyo is an app as well as a website & pretty much every day they release new deals. Daka90 is like an Israeli Priceline - app & website. I ended up calling daka90 & booking over the phone with them & I was very happy with their cs. All these sites mentioned show flights which you won’t find on the standard Kayak Priceline etc. If you have more questions about this pm me I’ll be happy to share more details. https://thepointsguy.com/news/not-el-al-the-smaller-israeli-airlines-that-will-get-you-there-for-cheap/ Just saw this, some more options to look into, although they don’t mention the deal sites I used which also have small Greek airlines that I couldn’t even find websites for. Hotels - I looked at all the points hotel options on the different islands, Hyatt & Hilton both don’t have, SPG has a bunch of random & Marriott has 2 in crete. After going through the options, Domes of elounda seemed like our best choice for a few reasons. Flying direct into crete as opposed to other islands seemed the easiest & with a baby that was a priority, standard rooms were pricing at €850 & we would be paying just 45k Marriott for 4 nights & 5th night free. The standard rooms are suites with a balcony & private jacuzzi & we were hoping for an upgrade which we got to a room with a private pool as well (in my request for an upgrade to a room with a pool, I asked that I be given one high up so that it is completely private & nobody can see in - b”h they pulled through). If you’re going without kids it might be worth looking into domes noruz Chania which is an all adult hotel. Do a drop of research into domes of elounda & you’ll see all the great things about the hotel, pools, on the beach, all suites… I’ll get another post out soon about what we did & try to add some pics as well. Whats the best site to book tickets from Tlv to jtr i can't find any good deals or normal times ? Any direct flights between Crete, Santorini or Mykonos and TLV? I went to crete for 5 days. Re: Restaurants In Israel Master Thread
What’s a new (past 3 years) Restaurant dairy or meat near Herbert Samuel Jerusalem with a good hasgacha Piccolino - dairy, didn’t love it. Tommy’s - meat, great food, street food - burgers & that type of stuff. It’s right in the beginning of rehavia. Harvey’s - meat, took over Gabrielle’s, hechsher is mehuderet & Bet Yosef iinm. If you’re willing to get in a cab Roza - meat, on emek refaim is fairly new & was great. If you’re willing to go the shuk there’s a few options there as well. July 23, 2018, 01:16:21 AM |

Re: Restaurants In Israel Master Thread
Also This is tough. I’ll answer based on my experiences. Dairy - Rimon, Lucianna & greggs, in no specific order. חבה in the shuk is great I’ve eaten from their full menu once otherwise got their breakfast menu, but def goes into top 3 just not sure which of those 3 classics I’d take out. I’ve heard great things about ahavat hayam but I’ve never been there. Random mentions - happy fish in mamilla is now rabbanut mehadrin iinm, fresh in mamilla & tahana rishona are pretty good & pizza fiore in tahana rishona was also good. Hasandak in the shuk good basics at decent prices. Meat - Lehem basar - great food but I’ve gotten bored of their menu. Red heifer - great food but expensive. Was very happy both times I was there this year. Skyline would be everybody else’s pick in top 3 but I’ve had bad experiences there so it’s out for me & instead I’d say roza. Random mentions - grill bar of course. Tommy’s. Hatch in the shuk craft beer & sausages - loved it. July 23, 2018, 05:28:51 PM |

Re: If You Could Ask El Al Management One Question...
Their checkin - I don’t remember it being so terrible coming from NYC (prob because I’m always late), but checkin at tlv for their midnight flights is horrendous. They have everybody from both flights waiting together on the same line & every single time I’ve come 2 hours or more b4 my flight I’ve had to wait forever on that line, by the time I finish checkin boarding is usually about to start. Every single time I’ve flown from tlv it’s been like this besides for when I show up late for checkin, then it’s a breeze.

Re: Antarctica Cruise Raffle (discussion?)
Just a thought - If there is a cash option, somebody who may have really wanted to join & ends up winning may not be able to justify to themselves taking the trip instead of $18k (or wtvr it will be). Maybe there should only be a cruise option & if the winner can’t come you pick a new winner.

Re: Things To Do In Israel Master Thread
First I'm learning about Caliber 3. Appreciate your opinion above. Have others here done their "Ultimate Shooting Adventure" or other activities and wish to share opinions? I drove there without an issue & so did many other people I know. As long as you’re aware of your surroundings & make sure your Waze is set not to go into area a or b you should be fine. I found caliber 3 to be very underwhelming for its price & from what I had heard about it. With kids it’s probably exciting but for adults I found it to be a bit boring & maybe childish in a way. Was something I felt was stereotypical Israel bar mitzva trip activity. I didn’t do Krav Maga, just some shooting program which was over $100 pp. Lots of propaganda. If you wanna shoot a gun, go find a shooting range. November 14, 2018, 04:17:30 PM |

Does any one know at what point Amazon considers a shipment to Israel late? (that theres a point in contacting them) I’d wait until after the last day you were supposed to receive. Re: Couples Stuck in USA - Rent on Israeli Apartments
There's a huge attitute problem amongst the young couples in Israel. It’s clear you’re going through a tough situation but stereotyping & ranting like that won’t get you anywhere. I’ve lived in israel for five years already & none of what you said is true about me or many others I know. People like this exist wherever they live so instead of deciding it’s an israel problem realize that it’s the ppl you’re dealing with & like somebody else replied maybe deal with a different clientele. I came back to America before they closed the border & now I’m stuck here… am I a spoiled selfish brat for discussing with my landlord & speaking to a rav if necessary about my chiyuv at this point… no I don’t plan on walking away & telling my landlord screw you but it’s gonna be tough for me to pay months of rent now without being able to be there… April 22, 2020, 11:38:28 PM |

Re: Miscarriages due to COVID-19
I was told by one Lakewood OB that approximately 20% of babies he delivered while the mother was COVID positive have returned to the NICU within the week for respiratory issues If issues with newborns were as prevalent as you make it sound there would be a lot more reporting than over 3 months into the virus some random poster on an anonymous forum with a quote from an unnamed OB. Perhaps this answers the question? My thoughts exactly... I don't want to do the wrong thing and take PPP if I'm not entitled to it due to a new salaried job, but I did miss many weeks and "double-dipping" during the 8 weeks is really just covering for missed weeks prior. Mazel Tov! Thank You I try to take a levelheaded approach to whatever is going on. Re: New DDF Forums
https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=51666.0 I know about that but if we’re talking about bringing these forums up to date there’s one, small & maybe some ppl would say insignificant addition which is missing right now. When you were debating changing DDMS, were most ppl opposed or for it? Re: Will there be Sleep Away Camp this summer?
What happened to the narrative that “kids can’t get COVID”? Were these really older “children” (I.e. teenagers)? Was it a massive camp with many thousands of children (so 82 is a very small number)? Does “82 campers and staff” really mean 81 staff and one camper? This is not only directed at you as I’ve been seeing this tons from many others as well & maybe it belongs in a more general thread but - Why does everything somebody says become a narrative?? The world at large has become so polarized, & once you have an opinion you need to stay with it 1000 percent, & must agree with all the opinions of that same side, can we at least try to keep things somewhat normal here so that somebody could say an opinion without it being a narrative?? I’ve had many things I’ve wanted to say about corona both ways but I’ve kept my mouth shut because it’s not worth getting into an argument over every word you said & what they decided you may have meant or didn’t mean or meant yesterday or said the week before. Everybody’s gotta take it easy. July 09, 2020, 10:56:29 PM |

Re: Will there be Sleep Away Camp this summer?
Some things can be said without a narrative. Some things are said as a narrative. When narratives are shown to be demonstrably false, they are called out. Such is the nature of things. As I said so it’s all based off the way you feel they meant what they said… maybe you’re the one with the narrative? Narrative regardless which way it goes is problematic cuz u gotta stick to your narrative. July 09, 2020, 11:03:57 PM |

Re: Will there be Sleep Away Camp this summer?

Re: Will there be Sleep Away Camp this summer?
I will take every opportunity I find to drive home the point that every precaution taken is worthwhile and nobody should be mocked for being smart and proactive. You can call it a narrative if you’d like, just as in the past you’ve accused me of spreading false hysteria for publicizing a DP I heard directly from a doctor. I very clearly didn’t accuse you of having a narrative in my first post but as soon as there was a drop of dialogue you resorted to basically telling me to shut up. It’s beautiful that you care so much to make sure that everybody should be careful but don’t lower yourself to this bickering tone every other post. July 09, 2020, 11:25:54 PM |

Re: {ALIVE AGAIN} Baby Present for Dan: (DAN/JJ DO NOT READ THIS THREAD)
I think we should be getting what this was all along a baby gift… If ppl are wondering why there’s less ppl involved this time around, my guess would be because DDF is a lot less of a family than it used to be. Could be I’m wrong but the feeling I get is that it used to be a lot more homey & Dan was a lot more personally involved obviously the bigger it grows the less it retains that feeling… July 14, 2020, 05:47:29 PM |
