Re: San Diego Master Thread
we went on a trip to SD from 8/28-9/3 and thought to write up a small TR on it. my first TR ![]() Planning: we decided we wanted to go somewhere with nice warm weather but not too hot and a place where our kids, 2 and 1, will enjoy. the main options were Arizona or Cali, FL wasn't an option cuz we go every yr and we wanted to try something new. We saw that Arizona during the summer time was too hot and since we did LA already we decided SD was our best option. as per activities we saw SD had a lot to offer. we got 2 4day SD GoCards from Costco which included a whole lot of activates and since both my kids were under 3 they didn't have to pay! flights: originally I booked flights with SW with a stop as they didn't have nonstop on my dates. I had CP so I only had to pay for 3 tickets. when I told DW about the stopover she begged me to find a nonstop as she didnt want to have a stopover with two kids under 3. so I checked DL and I saw that on the way there they had a nonstop for 12K for the way there but the way back was more expensive (25K) bc of labor day weekend. I tried looking for any award flights for 9/3 but I couldn't find anything. I then remembered about the BP 50% rebate and since I had selected delta that was a no brainer. the flight OW from SD to JFK was about 300$ which ended up costing me around 15K points after the rebate. I also booked seats for both my kids- best thing ever! Hotel: I wanted to stay walking distance to a shul so I can walk there on Shabbat and DW wanted a room with a kitchen. after reading this thread the best option was Residence inn La Jolla- each room had a kitchen and they had a minyan in the hotel itself with a very nice Kiddush (thanks mringelheim for the info and help) . I had a 5 night Marriott certificate cat 1-5 but since the hotel was a category 6 I had to spend a few more points to update the certificate. I also needed one more night so I just paid for it 200$ for the "Executive suite"- its a duplex with two rooms living room and kitchen. excellent room! Day one Monday 8/28 we arrived at the hotel at 1, kids were drained from the flight so we put them to nap and unloaded our stuff. once they work up around 4 went to Ralph to do some grocery shopping. we got back at 530 and wanted to take the kids out to have some fun- we search and saw there was a chucky cheese around the area so we decided to go there and spend a few hours there- the kids loved it! when we got back the kids and us were drained so we ate dinner that DW brought from NY and we all passed out. Day 2 Tuesday 8/29 we decided to activate our 4 day go card so we can take full advantage of it. our first activity was the Safari since my oldest kept telling us he wanted to see the animals. that day was super hot - the guy at the safari told us was 110 degrees. we were all shvitzing but we had a blast! we got very close to the animals the kids loved it! we didn't stay too late bc the heat was becoming unbearable. so we decided to leave around 3 go back to hotel relax by the pool a bit and go out for dinner- we looked up a few places and we saw there was an israeli place by the JCC near the hotel. the food was good nothing special but it did the job. we went back to hotel and called it a night. Day 3 Wednesday 8/30 we were debating whether to go to LEGOLAND or sea world and we decided that well do LEGOLAND and sea world on Thursday. I gotta say LEGOLAND was my favorite park! they had plenty of rides for lil kids. after finishing with all the dry rides we decided to go to the water park (additional cost 25$) but def worth it. once we got to the entrance we were told that half the water park was closed bc they didn't have enough staff ( apparently in SD they start school last week of Aug) but they said since I wasn't told about this when I came in that they will give me 3 tickets to the water park that expire 8/31/18. water park was a lot of fun and altho most of the rides are for older kids we still had plenty to do. best part was the park was empty! we got back to hotel DW made dinner and we went to sleep. Day 4 Thursday 8/31 we went to sea world- again the park was completely empty. they don't have that many rides mainly shows. we loved the dolphin and sea lion show. there is also a place where u can see penguins real close so that was fun. we stayed there until closing around 5pm went to the hotel chilled in the pool for a bit had dinner and fell asleep Day 5 & 6 Friday & shababt 9/1-9/2 we didn't know what to do but we still had one day of usage og the go card so we decided to go to Belmont park, for those who live in new York its like a coney island luna park. again the place was empty, no lines , was great. since we were right by the board walk we rented bikes with kids trailers and biked on the boardwalk. then we went back to Ralph to do some Shabbat shopping and came back to get ready for Shabbat. Shabbat there was a minyan at 10am with a very nice Kiddush and after that we pretty much chilled the rest of the day. motzei Shabbat we packed everything for the flight next day at 1230pm Day 7 Sunday 9/3 went early in the morning to coffee bean got a few sweets for the flight back and headed to airport. we got to the gate right when we started boarding- flight was as good as it can be with 2 kids under 3. overall we had a great time. thanks to all that helped with answering question on this forum. time to start planning our next trip! Re: Marriott Certs Sale
There is obviously a risk involved- especially for the buyer as he's sending money to someone he may not know. IMO the best way to minimized the risk as a buyer is by buying from someone who has sold before and getting references about his previous transactions or by getting good references from well known/trusted DDFers , And this 👇of course. pay the paypal fee for protection. if seller cheats you paypal will make it right. been there, done that. Filed case with paypal and they refunded my money August 23, 2019, 08:49:41 AM |
