Re: CHASE closed ALL accounts!!!!!!!
Spoke to supervisor - what I was able to gather is the purchase of gold coins or bars using a credit card is deemed to be an unauthorized transaction and, therefore, justifies card closing. Her words were basically "we do not authorize the use of our credit card for making investments". She repeatedly asked why I used a credit card than paying by check. I asked her why do I pay my a/c guy by credit card rather than check. Convenience and points. At the end of the year, I receive an expense report showing all my transactions by category. I also told her with gold purchase from Apmex, I would have to either wire them or have them receive a check within 3-5 days of purchase. Then they would have to deposit check and even though it clears my bank in a day, they would wait 5 days. Then after the 5 days they would sort the order and the following day ship the order. I save at least 7 business days using a credit card!

They have become positively nuts! I am trying to diversify my CC accounts as now I am too heavily "invested" with Chase. I don't want to think what would happen to my credit if G-D forbid all my accounts were closed because s/o had a bad hair day  :-\

Re: Office space in the Catskills
Well maybe check Woodridge instead  ::) Woodbridge is 100 miles from the Catskills

What area in the Catskills does work for you? There is plenty of office space in Monticello. Call a Real Estate broker.

Maybe you can share with me where the "plenty of office space" is in Monticello? Because I called brokers and they said they've received "hundreds" of calls from us seasonal renters. Noone wants to bother for a month or two.  They'd prefer just keeping it empty, like so much of the property around here is all year 🙄

Re: CHASE closed ALL accounts!!!!!!!
Is there any shut down risk using an Ink heavily after activation?

Dan says hitting ANY card hard immediately can be a red flag. See post all about this

Re: Bungalow colonies 2020
Um, this thread is about a month too late...
Really?? Idk about by you but in most parts of the world ALOT has been developing day by day over the last month. Noone knew anything a month ago. And I know many people still asking this question.

Re: Bungalow colonies 2020
The ones I'm talking about are old-school bungalow colonies. I have no idea about the legalities, since they were some colonies holding weddings with over 100 people, so legal technicalities don't seem to be a concern for them.
Health concerns also do not seem to be a concern to them. Each to their own.

Re: Air Serbia $275 NYC-TLV
my typical answer to "i am the supervisor" is "so u own chase bank?", ah, u dont? so that means there is at least 1 person on top of u, great, put him on the phone please..."
Great answer  :)

Re: Dealer Lease buyout To anyone considering transferring their lease to ALgo, Vroom, Carvana etc- I just wanna post my experience. I think there have been varied experiences by DDF members but this was mine. My verdict- stick with ALgo.

ALgo initially sent the highest offer via e-mail, upon inspection they dropped it by $1300 (even though car was amazing cond) saying the "market was soft for my specific vehicle". Uhuh  ::) Sales tactic to get me thru the door.

Waited a month. Put my info in again on all 3- Vroom came in highest. Accepted the offer, uploaded all docs etc. They said next step- a contract will be e-mailed to me. That's been going on for 5 days already! They don't call, never e-mail, nothin! In fact I called them 3 times, get the same still being reviewed....

Yesterday, got nervous, decided to reach out to ALgo again. They said they need to do another appraisal. I replied very firmly to please not waste my time if they can't come in very close to their e-mailed offer. Ok, he will speak to his supervisor. Guess what? They came up by $500, by far the highest now. So guys- definitely negotiate and play hardball! Accepted the offer. Within about 45 minutes, I had a contract sent to me to sign. Vroom is still stuck in the same spot!! I don't hear from them, nothing. Communication by ALgo is positively amazing thus far. Will advise how the full process goes down.

Re: any accountants out there that i can ask a question?
its a red flag if you use actual expenses that are high
especially now that there is a simplified option

So basically, even if the expenses are valid, try to tone it down, not to get too greedy. That what you're saying in essence?

Re: United Mileage Plus

Must be within 30 days of departure, I assume?? Can you change the flight instead of redeposit? No change fees

Re: Stimulus Checks
In canada is there food stamps, child care etc? What happens by taxes is there dependant deductions, eic, child tax credits? Socialist like giving the money to you outright to make you feel dependant in the US were not there yet...

I'm afraid we're heading there real quick, too quick. The "Founding Fathers" must be turning in their graves (for so many reasons!!)

Re: Stimulus Checks
Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirms that stimulus checks will be $1400. She says that $1400 checks will deliver on Biden's promise of $2000 checks because they come on top of the $600 authorized by the last bill.

I wonder if she knows what a stimulus check is. She probably thinks it's part of the Space Force program.

Re: Coronavirus Stimulus Aid Package If this is all about Covid relief, why in heavens name does half the Child Tax Credit wait for the filing of 2021 taxes in 2022?!- at least a 12 month wait from now? And the first half, the monthly periodic payment portion, first starts in July. Somewhat hard to understand, although the economy is expected to be in the pits for a nice while yet so maybe not as hard to explain?

This seems to be alot more about Dems trying to change this credit permanently to create "financial equality", and as the media is always quick to point- especially among people of color who suffer the most from income inequality and of course from Covid. Go figure.

Re: Coronavirus Stimulus Aid Package
Tell me if i'm wrong. The dependent care credit has always been NOT eligible for private school tuition. It is for childcare for non school age children.

I'm not so sure it had to with private school or not. AFAIK (or remember), it was only for childcare, I think kindergarten and up was not included. Day camp (not sleepaway) qualified up to age 13.
