Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
What are the "shomrim" cards that kids were giving out?
I think they're cards that have pictures on it that are supposed to convey the message that smartphones are bad.

Re: Optimum internet
I cannot seem to find a reasonably priced modem with a phone jack that works for optimum. Want to stop paying the $10 monthly fee. Any ideas?
If you have around 50mbps than you can get cisco dpq3212 for $34 on eBay item # 253713296571

Or Arris tm822a / tm822g (I have one if you want to buy for $20)

If you have higher then you can get the Arris tm1602

Off topic. They're called transmedia but their website is tranmedia?

I put it into a picture. Added some things (which might not be 100% accurate). Might be too much of a wall of text though.

Just an idea what if you include a vanity URL that redirects to Dan's DDMS post or to the PSA thread? Something like check out for more information/a discussion on this topic
QR code?

Re: Ad Campaign for spreading awareness anti credit card swiping businesses!
Print ads are important because many people who are attracted to these offers do not use social media/Whatsapp.
But ads are expensive, I highly doubt we'll get more than 1 or 2 if any.  That's why I think everyone should hang up this sign on their shul bulletin board.

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others
Ok @whYME  and @Yehuda57  please tell me a real word to use for the people who allowed their cards to be swiped and I'll use it!  Lender, investor, victim all imply taking a side.  I used the term investor because I was referencing a Ponzi scheme comparison and that's what people with money in Ponzi schemes are called...geesh.

I refuse to use swipee because now I can't get Dora the Explorer out of my head and my kids already traumatized me for several years going around the house saying "Swiper no Swipee!"  ;D

Re: Adding Financial Literacy Courses In Yeshivas
No one addressed that question in this thread. I posted similarly above, along with @mmgfarb. Just busy with semantics.
How can they sit for secular studies but not for religious studies? Ela Mai, they're not interested. So like @ExGingi  said that is something to be worked on. Although I think he was saying it's due to the teachers. I agree but I think it has much more to do with the students priorities.

Anyways regardless I'll say again what I believe to be true. The goal of a frum person is to become the best possible eved hashem. This purpose in life is not only when people are in the mood of it. It's 24/7/354/120. How exactly is learning secular studies furthering that goal in the most efficient way?

Free 72hr access codes to NY Times (unlimited amount of times) Usually they have a 10 article limit. Some say incognito mode is a workaround. I never got it to work with incognito.

Offers free 72 hour passes to their site. You need a NY times account then just click on the redeem button and it will automatically activate it (if you're logged in).

Not near a computer now. But is there an option on a desktop to change the voicemail to a standard greeting with the phone number VS the voicemail saying you've reached this google subscriber, and don't want to create a personal one.

Re: Random Posts Did anybody see this post on Reddit?

First of all I don't think that is the halacha to begin with (correct me if I'm wrong) if she's already 17. Unless they're saying only if she wants to keep the relationship. Which doesn't sound like it.

Although from her post history it sounds like the family isn't orthodox. But that makes the question harder. Why do the parents want that?

Second of all why is everyone so scared of marriage?

Re: Interesting Articles... Can confirm. I work for an Amazon seller that mainly sells cell phones.

Very often we get smashed phones that are returned, different model phone switched out for a new phone, empty boxes, paperweights, phones that are gutted for parts, non working display phones.

I'd average 1/20 of the returns have some problem.

Re: A Simple Tzedaka Fund Idea
The website says that they check to ensure that the simcha is done in a way that is financially responsible
To me financially responsible is for a wedding to look like a Sheva brachos/vort.

Yes it's extreme for today, but I think it's best that way.

Re: Any sites to sharpen a blurry picture,by increasing contrast of adjacent pixels?
Are there any good sites that you guys used in the past to sharpen a blurry picture, or in my case i have a shipping label which is quite blurry, couldn't get it to scan in the PO so i tried a bar-code generator site and was going to use 3D Paint to edit it to the shipping label but when blowing the pic so big the pixels get killed again, so wondering what free site or even a paid site there's out there that you guys might have used in the past? Thanks
I'm not entirely sure but I think converting the image to a vector file should do the trick.
I don't know any sites that do it off hand but I'm sure you can Google it.

How do i post a video in the body of the message rather then as a attachment?
You can't post a video as an attachment since the max attachment size is 256kb here.

You have to use the URL of the video. Try clicking the YouTube button when posting and putting the URL inside the brackets.

Re: Riddles!
You gotta make it more dramatic!

I heard it like this:

There were four people stuck on a boobytrapped island, which will blow up in exactly 17 minutes. There's a rickety bridge off the island, but that will also blow up in 17 minutes. it takes the people 1, 2, 5, and 10 minutes... etc.
Heard it the same way from here

They have the 2 pack of led lightbulbs again (and br30 bulbs which I never saw before). I think that's a very good deal.

They also have a 100 and 75 watt equivalent bulbs which I never either saw before, albeit unbranded. I'm pretty sure they're the same as the Sunbeam bulbs though.

Re: Honestly, honestly do you feel smartphones have improved your quality of life? Tough question to answer. First because I'm not clear on what the question exactly is. Second because I'm just not sure.

Is it a time waster more than a time saver? For me definitely yes. Is that the ultimate deciding factor whether a smartphone is good or bad? I'm not sure.

I'll tell you why I like it. It's quite simple. It seems to me that the main thing everyone doesn't like about smartphones is that it ruins personal relationships. But I'm the quietest guy you've ever met. Even when I was younger before I had a smartphone I never socialized much. Why would it be any different now? So what else should I do with my time if not try to preoccupy myself with something.

Does using a smartphone make me more introverted? Very likely. Would I change if I didn't have a smartphone? I don't know. I guess I would somewhat.

(This took me waaay too long to analyze my feelings to give a response :) )
