Re: How much is COVID-19 affecting your life now?
called Priceline to see about changing/refunding a flight, was told the wait time is more than 17 Hours!
The benefit of using online travel agents seems to have come back to bite us now that the airlines won't deal with these flights directly.

Re: How much is COVID-19 affecting your life now?
Don't let the negatives get you down. We all have the opportunity to do some real good.

My brother was behind a lady today who couldn't pay for all her groceries. She was only $10 short but you would have thought he gave her a million dollars.
100%

On the plane I was wiping down the table, armrest etc with Clorox wipes and the person next to me asked if they could have 1 wipe. It's these small things that will get us through this, both for the people receiving and for those giving.

Re: Tweets, Pictures, And Videos That Are Coronavirus Related Surely the best way for Britain to decide whether to come out of lockdown is through some kind of referendum.

That should be straight forward enough.

Hey @Dan , I'm assuming you're a n00b so I'm not going to kick you off, but please know for the future that reposting is against forum rules. DDF can be a brutal place for those who don't follow the rules, and I just wanted to give you a heads up before the scary DDFers come after you.

Re: Re: So How Was Your Shul This Week?
@Yehuda57 we need a thread for top 10 signs you don't daven in a Chabad shul.
In no particular order here are a few.

1. The Kiddush was actually planned out VS whatever is in the kitchen cupboard.

2. The people that pay are the ones with set seats VS the only people that have set seats are the mags.

3. The minyan starts at the time it was supposed to.

4. The Rav is just the Rav VS also being the Baal koreh, chazan, janitor, doorman, gabbai, and whatever else comes up.

5. The security guard knows every member and won't let you in if you are not pre cleared.

6. The cholent is actually identifiable which ingredients it has.

7. There is a specific person who corrects the Baal koreh if he makes a mistake VS the entire shul correcting him.

8. All the siddurim match and are the same type.

9. They don't daven nusach Ari .

10. People actually know where the chazan is up to and what part of davening we're at.

Re: Heroes Blog Here!
@Dan and the DDF mods. It can't be easy having your deals and travel forum hijacked by pandemic talk. Policing all the posts has it's challenges on a good day, and the heightened emotions and sensitivities of our times must make that a Herculean task now.

I can go on and on about the values of this forum through these times. The education, in terms of information disseminated from members' wide range of sources. The resources shared, changing the lives of members and entire communities. The money raised, with long lasting impact on families most of us will never meet. I will go so far as to say actual lives saved, in terms of people of influence spreading life-saving information they learned here to keep their communities safe.

For all of this, I am immensely grateful, and I cannot express that enough. Thank you!!

I don't think it is necessary to do the bris on zoom. Many states are loosening up their restrictions. We are already in phase 2, and it is always preferable that the novel be there in person.

It should be relatively easy to arrange a bris that abides to todays social distancing regulations. The mohel would wear a mask of course, and perform the circumcision from a distance using a long range cutting instrument such as gardening shears or a hedge trimmer.
You mean like this?

Re: Draconian reopening measures. What could be done?
Or as I tell my kids whenever they say something is not fair: "we should be extremely happy, as that shows that things are going exactly the way Hashem wants them to be".

Though we still want our hishtadlus to have an effect.
My grandfather would say, "if I was Hashem, I would do things exactly the way they are"

Re: Asking for a friend. In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name, current address, and other personal information to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You will be subject to additional screening, to include a patdown and screening of carry-on property.

You will not be allowed to enter the security checkpoint if your identity cannot be confirmed, you choose to not provide proper identification or you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process.

TSA recommends that you arrive at least two hours in advance of your flight time.

Re: Life Hacks, Post Your Favorites!
Here's one: If you get a piece of eggshell in with the eggs while cracking them, use the other half of the eggshell to fish it out instead of trying to use your fingers or anything else.
Can confirm!

On the topic of eggs, if you want to separate the yolk from the white, take an empty clean water bottle, squeeze the bottle, place the mouth over the yolk and slowly release the bottle. The yolk will get sucked up into the bottle with minimal/no white.
