Re: Chase sapphire preferred 80,000 UR sign up bonus I'm new here and I'm not sure if this is the right  place to post this, so sorry in advance if it isn't.
If I upgrade the CSP to CSR, when do I get charged the higher AF; right away or when the CSP's year is up?

New Chase Hyatt Visa sign-up bonus option I'm seeing reports that Chase is offering a $200 statement credit and a free night at any category 1-7 hotel instead of the 50,000 points on the World of Hyatt card. New cardmembers can choose between the  two offers. The $200 statement credit doesn't require any minimum spending and the  free night needs $3,000 spend. Similar to the other two-tier offer.

Re: Chase Hyatt Visa Master Thread I agree.
But for manypeople the lower minimum spend required combined with the fact that people aren't traveling right now, the new offer might be more useful.

Re: New Chase Hyatt Visa sign-up bonus option I would personally take 50,000 points, however, for someone who has a hard time reaching the minimum spend requirement this might be a better option. Also, people are cashing out points now for below their value due to the fact that they aren't traveling.

Thanks. Value in terms of cash back or leveraging for travel and such?

Well, you will obviously get the most value by maximizing their travel partners/PYB and such, but for those you will need a premium card too. In any case, there is a great value in the ink cards even as straight-up cash back cards

Re: Misc Credit Card Questions
Yes they're terrible in hard pulls, they check by all three bureaus
5/24 isn't affected by hard pulls. They look at total accounts opened. There is no difference between CO consumer cards or those of any other bank, they all count. CO business cards also count towards 5/24 unlike most other banks though.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
In this thread every chusid will feel hated, calling name and slurs on thousands of chasidim from other frum yidden is very sad

I would tell you I'm chasidish and don't feel hated but you would probably just tell me that makes me a hater too.

Though I do support wearing masks and social distancing so you probably already considered me a hater.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
I never wrote anything against what other people do
I wear a mask as well
My point was that you guys always bash chasidim no matter what

And I am taking about the few haters here that didn't hide it
I really don't care what anyone does ,its non of my business

Hate exists. But to think any criticism is hate is textbook paranoia.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
So in this thread bashing Moster, we have a case in point in why Moster is right. ;)

I realize you weren't saying you agree with YAAFED. But just to clarify; plenty people agree there should be better education. The problem people have with Moster is his methods. Getting the government involved is a bad precedent. The right way to change is from within the community.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
That's the difference between me and you.

I argued with them about camps and schools and shuls being closed and even though we totally did not agree on a lot of stuff, I did not call them haters.  My kids still went to camp.  They are still in school.  And b"h we still daven with minyan every day (I don't count how many are there, I could care less as long as there are at least 10).

But that doesn't mean that now I can't agree with them about chilul hashem. (And lets not get into the mistake part, just move on.)  No need to jump down my throat or anyone else just because they said something you slightly disagreed with.  You can argue respectfully too.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
Just trying to understand what you are writing
Hate exists as in?

Meaning there are plenty people out there who hate chasidim, just like there are people who hate all other minorities. But all I saw on this thread was legitimate criticism. Whether you agree with the criticism or not (you don't) that doesn't make it hate.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
I still strongly disagree that adding fuel to people that don't like chasidim is smart ... for ever reason that they don't like you and giving strangers on a public forum more fuel to hate chasidim is silly

An opinion to share is one thing,
But in other hand the haters are using your words to clearly voice their opinion with hate is very wrong and still call it hate , maybe you don't chap what you do, but these haters are building bridges on what you fuel them with facts

Don't take this the wrong way, but a lot of haters say that the reason they hate chasidim is because of lack of reason and logic. Your posts blaming all criticism on hate fuels that and has a bigger effect than chasidim saying the wedding was wrong. I don't mean to justify anyone that does say something along those lines and I wouldn't even have mentioned it if not for your post. I'm not blaming you at all and I hold everyone responsible for their own opinions irrespective of any individual's opinions.

Re: Satmar Wedding 7,000 people during covid
I don't think it's paranoia or anxiety. I think it's what happens when natural defensive tendencies are mixed with a complete lack of nuance. It becomes a binary world, where if you don't love me, you must hate me, and if you're not with me, you're against me. This isn't new here, although it may be a bit more extreme than what we are used to.

Totally agree.

But it still is paranoia to somehow see someone criticizing a wedding and assume they mean the chasidish way of life and not just a wedding. The fact that I, among others, felt the need to point out we are chasidish too and still think the wedding is wrong is rather telling.

Re: Chase low limit - Is cycling ok with Ink
Wrong. Having a high credit utilization will drop your score, often my a very large number. Once your report updates with a lower utilization ratio, you're score will start to go back up but it won't usually return to the same place it was before right away.

I stand corrected. And yes, that's the reason not to do the $2 trick with a chase card.

Re: Predictions For What The Ds Will Do In Full Control Of DC?
Raising taxes on the rich isn't about bringing in more money, it's about class envy and political posturing

Hmm. On the one hand people complain about the spending, but when people propose actually raising money from the people who could most afford it, the knee-jerk reaction is that they have ulterior motives. I get being against taxes and handouts, but to imply that the taxes are to pay for anything but said handouts is stupid.

Re: MLB Master Thread Though to be honest they probably would've charged us an AL premium AND a Yankees premium. And I'm pretty confident we'll get a legit shortstop next year. There aren't that many teams who will be willing to give the contract needed to sign all those shortstops. Lindor would've been my first option but I'll be fine with plenty others.

Possibly, but the fed still has a number of tools to control inflation, such as raising the interest rate.

Re: R.I.P. Freedom
Funny how with the most unpopular candidate imaginable and an incessant white Supremacist narrative the GOP still gained votes in African American, Latino, and other minority communities. It is almost as if people can think for themselves and have values and goals that differ from the boxes you want to put them in

I'm not putting people into boxes. But analyzing voter patterns is just science. I wouldn't expect any individual to vote based on my science, but the patterns arw still there.

Re: R.I.P. Freedom
Biden was a throwback Democratic candidate. He was someone who specifically appealed to the old school Democrat voter. " Scrappy Joe" and all that. He was nominated to rebuild the blue wall and bring back its working class base. IMO the majority of the future Democratic candidates will be Obama-esque candidates who should appeal to the minority base. Don't be distracted by one election. The Democratic party is building a base in minorities and losing lots of their traditional working class voters. Much the same as the Republican party is losing suburban voters while gaining working class voters.

Biden is literally an old white male politician. He isn't the candidate firing up minorities. Nor was he meant to be. That being said, I do think the Democratic party overestimated the minority dislike for Trump, which is why they didn't care for a candidate that would involve them or even to campaign for them. That is why the election was much closer than they expected.

Re: R.I.P. Freedom
You misunderstood my comment.
You were saying "Change is good". To me that sounds like change for the sake of change is good.
Conservatives don't believe that change for the sake of change is good. Conservatives believe that change is good only when it is really good. Every "change" needs to be evaluated to see if it is really good.

Orthodox Jews always want to make Judaism better. But we don't want to change Judaism.
Conservatives are always trying to make our country better for everyone. But we don't want to change our country.

A good example: The racism that we saw by some police officers. Conservatives want to fix that, by firing and prosecuting the bad apples, and changing the culture in the police departments. But the left wants to defund the police - to destroy the entire fabric of our society. Sometimes, change isn't good. Fixing is better.

"Fixing" just means smaller changes. Smaller changes are better, but bigger changes must be on the table. Nothing about our society is sacred and should be untouchable unless it violates human rights. Not willing to try bigger changes, after smaller ones have been tried, is a problem.

Re: Amazon Google and Apple pull the plug on Parler
If not for govt regulation (section 230) the free market would be solving this a lot easier.

Section 230 provides companies immunity from the law for third party content. In a free market, the law isn't a factor. You can argue that they shouldn't have section 230, but I don't see how repealing it would have solved this problem in a laisezz-faire way.
