Flying from JFK
Renting a car though (connected to a Mr. Teichman through the forums here) from Dollar. Gave me a minivan for half the best price anywhere else (although it was prepaid).

Not a place for a human being. I'll watch from my air conditioned car, thank you.
I've been sitting on my porch for close to an hour. Beautiful day. Breezy and quite comfortable. Although I'm in the shade. Maybe that makes a difference.

Anytime I've had a really simple fix that does not involve opening the hood of my car, I've gone to Willets Point across the street from Citi Field. It's not pretty but they'll have what you need at a very fair price especially if you bargain them down. There are so many shops that you'll be in and out of there in less than 20 minutes.
I've gone there for tires, tire plugs, mirrors, and a bumper. I usually send my Spanish workers since they negotiate much better in the mama loshon.

Re: US Politics/2016 Election Pick Your Poison Master Thread Am I the only one here that hates listening to the news now? All they talk about is Trump and Russia. Is it a story? Maybe yes maybe no. But get over it and let me know when there is something solid. There is no question that the MSM is hooked on this story like no other story that I could remember (at least in my lifetime). Am I the only one sick of hearing about it?

you really gotta give it a break. yoy lose credibility  on the real stuff... when you make an issue of every thing
Its almost like this is what he lives for. And he wouldn't be able to survive without his Trump bashing (not that I agree with a lot that Trump has done) a few times a day. Like most of us need a coffee or two to get thru the day, CM needs to talk about Trump this and Trump that daily.
Eventually most of us will not care about a single thing CM says, even when he does have valid points.

Or more likely there was negligence, they were understaffed, nurses messed up their vital checks, they didn't stock up enough water and non-perishable food in advance, and they will be sued and settle for many millions.

A hard job isn't an excuse for death. This has huge settlement written all over it.
Def a possibility and the investigations will determine that. And if there was negligence, the responsible parties should be held accountable to the fullest extent allowed. My point is that until all facts are known, I would reserve judgement since as somebody who's been there done that to a degree (BH I never had situations like this), I could definitely see variables which would make the provider completely innocent.

Sign me up for THAT. Was it a sale they were having or regular pricing?

They're showing $9.29 on their website for a 6-pack of 32oz (which isn't bad)
I don't think it was a sale (was yesterday which was after this months sale but before next months sale, which begins today. Also I'm looking at the receipt and doesn't show a discount.)

Men don't think, so you're already expecting too much from us. We also don't do a lot of other things you may or may not realize. Brachos both before and after eating. Washing is dwindling. Wearing Tzitzis wearing is starting to go down in teenagers (something that wasn't a question to do when I was in high school)...
I must have been living under a rock. I and my chevra would never ever ever think of [not] doing those things. Not to show off or ch"v put people down. But to make statements that sounds like what ur saying is the norm is completely foreign to me. Maybe it's my OOT upbringing. IDK. But I'm blown away.

Re: Another mass shooting!!!
You just can't look at anything objectively. The D's want less people with guns.
I'm not sure I believe that. I think they just want to control people in any way possible (since they know better on how to spend our money, raise our kids, believe in our god's, etc). If it means to say guns are bad, fine. If it means making people give up their money for other people's 'rights', also fine.

And while we at it let's decide if Trump didn't respond quick enough. Or he responded too quick. Doesn't really matter because either way it's his fault and that's all that's important.

If it makes you feel good, keep posting these types of articles. But I would think that most people here (myself included) recognize that majority of MSM is left leaning (putting it nicely) and comes out with similar types of 'news' articles regularly, albeight with different words. These are no longer bombshells when every other day they have another 'this is going to be THE one' article. Why would anybody give any sort of credability to them?
But then again, if it makes you and other Trump haters feel good, go ahead and keep posting such links! (Or maybe it's just me and other people do still read such articles. Maybe we should start a poll. Jk)

What I have been trying to do is get what you want to use as a baseline. One day the polls are fake, next day they are used to prove a point, next day they are fake again. One day Bolton is a great guy, next day he is liar.  ::)
Exactly. Like one day Romney is a woman hating Nazi throwing grandmas in wheelchairs off the cliff and the next he's a hero proving that the Dems are right and Trump should be impeached.  ::)
Got a lot more to say (on both sides) but got too much going on in my life.

Re: How should schools and parents deal with tuition?
I had a good laugh at this. Letís see them threaten the majority of the parent-body of the school.

Like the virus, many Rabbanim and schools are in denial about the deluge thatís about to happen with tuition.

You see, most parents are too overwhelmed right now with whatís going on and with Pesach. Once Pesach ends and the reality of the Corona havoc sets in, calls will start pouring in. I can see most parents agreeing to pay some tuition, but they will want a significant discount. Some might demand a full refund or credit for next year.

I also donít think the Rabbanim who said that the school can threaten not allowing students back took into account the legal ramifications of making such a threat, as it is a form of blackmail.
1) I was just repeating what I heard
2) he didn't say threaten them. He said they have a halachic right to not take them back. Don't know why it's any different then not renewing any contract when u feel the other party owes u money. Something wrong with that?
3) not so sure majority of parents think the way u are thinking. I planned on paying the full amount (actually for whatever reason, it's already paid so there's even less of a reason to think I'll be able to recover it, even of I wanted to). I know many other people that for a variety of reasons  plan on accepting whatever the local pasak is. Granted, I'm in a situation where thankfully I still have a job and income. And that my wife works for a local school and thus far have been paying like regular so in a way I'm nogeah bedavar on the other side. But many people are in fact are losing/lost their income and I'm sure are struggling so I could def see how this could be a bigger issue for them financially.

Re: Maimonidies
I agree there is bad in every system, the question is when the system is bad throughout.

No one is saying to shut it down, what I am saying is; there needs to be a boycott on hospital system that behave the worst.  I am guessing like every buisness the profit/survivability  % is a very small % of thier buisness and if they face even a small boycott it'll force them to make change.

Once those are better move on to the rest.

This is basics in capitalism.
How about people thank the doctors, nurses, etc that put their own lives and the lives of their families on the line for the community, often after the pt or somebody else acted irresponsible? Would be nice to be on the front cover of the local papers because 1000 people crowded the surrounding streets (with social distancing of course) with signs of thanks and encouragement to those people actually saving lives.

Re: COL video about Maimonidies, a must watch
your saying specifically food?
No, the visitor part. People think it's the hospital denying visitor entry but it's not.

Re: Czar Cuomo
There were plenty of reports here of shuls and schools in BP/Willi opening after a few weeks off.
But to say it never shut down is wrong.
1) There are hundreds (if not thousands) of shuls and schools in the greater NYC area (including 5towns, westchester, etc). A huge majority of them were completely closed from a week after purim until shavuos time. Here in the 5towns, schools did not reopen until this year.
2) Anybody that thinks that everybody else aside from the ultra-orthodox (whatever that means) in NY and NJ are in full compliance in regards to mask and SD, obviously doesn't live here.

Re: Lakewood covid cases
This is false!! The nursing homes and everyone knew how contagious it was (remember the whole country was shut down March to June ó no school ó ring a bell??) and nursing homes didnít want the COVID patients back from the hospitals!

If it kills their other patients it ruins their reputations and dries up their revenues (they get paid per day)!! Cuomo insisted they accept these patients back from hospitals and the expected happened it spread in nursing homes more than anywhere.
Of course this is 100% false. As someone in the business, I could tell you first hand how we fought it tooth and nail. I could show you dozens of my emails, recorded phone calls, team meetings and communication to the state, associations, attorneys, residents, families, and even news organizations. We saw where this was going and the potential damage. And we suspected that WE would be held responsible for it and therefore made every effort to document everything I did to show we protested it. But haters will be haters. No point in really responding here.

As I've said before, anybody and everybody in the industry with half a brain saw this coming 3/25. We were/still are powerless when it came to our governor and his DOH, led by his head honcho Zucker.
But many haters out there and here still believe that he did this because our association gave half a mil to Cuomo's campaign (which I imagine is peanuts compared to what other associations and the unions give him). 🤔

Re: Bike deal request and advice
I got a cheaper bike (sub $100), I believe it was Kent, when I was about 12 from Walmart. Worked perfectly for a few years of riding until it was stolen. Mongoose was an even better brand back then. Was assembled in Walmart free of charge, but donít know about today.
For basic riding (non professional) thatís what all my friends and classmates had then, and was perfect for all of us. I donít see why you would spend 3-$500 on a bike that your kid will grow out of within a few years. Unless you have the money for such luxuries obviously.
Who remembers Huffy bikes?!

Re: Lakewood covid cases

Keep in mind anyone vaccinated, or otherwise asymptomatic, most likely isn't getting tested. How much that makes a difference for practical purposes... Who knows.
in the general community u are correct but nursing home staff (at least here in NY) are still required to get tested twice a week. Most of us have been vaccinated already.

If they treat you like a leper until the results come back, thatís something to avoid too.
Come on, what do they do?? They separate her for 15 minutes until the results come back so as not to put other people at risk of getting sick (not to mention that many of those people are already high risk)? Boohoo. Should we also ketch when they put gowns and other PPE on when delivering or doing g other surgeries? "What, they think I could make them sick or something? Ew." At some point people have to just grow up and enjoy life. Look at the big picture.
