Re: Anyone here into planes or aviation. Not sure if you are talking to his Excellency the governor, or me.

I fly quit a lot as a passenger, and the only time i needed to get interested in the Gulfstreams (the long range ones) was when a person needed a flight crossing africa from North to South and vice versa without the need to stop in arabic countries.

Trip with Train Through Southern Europe (will be continued whenever...) Trip with Train Through Southern Europe (will be continued whenever...)

What was supposed to be a trip with 4 bochrim ended up with 2.

One guy got engaged, and the other one was told by his mum that he would get executed if he dared going.
The guy that went with me (a 5* negotiator, and nerves of steel) told me once we were on our way, that he told his parents that he would be staying only in Italy, and since he was the one calling home, and they didn't have called ID all was under control. (I was not on Child Focus or so; I had told my parents, and they were okay with it).

I bought a rail card that was good for a month for southern Europe, and the way to get there (excl Switzerland). My fellow traveler left from a different country so we were supposed to meet in Venice.

I could barely go up the stairs of the train as I had way over my own weight in luggage. A huge backpack in the back with all sorts of thing attached to the outside, a very big backpack in the front, and shoulder bags (actually big sports bags with shoulder straps) on either side. (at the time i was doing martial art, and was still fit)
My luggage contained mostly food (you know the radioactive ones that stay fresh forever), the let's-go-guides, etc.

In Brussels I switched to a night train with beds. I knew it all started wrong when I was put in a wagon with 5 other ladies. (they were all triple my age, including a nun, a moslem, and some other UFO's [Unidentified Female Objects]. Usually they are careful not to mix genders, but I was out of luck there.

As they started to bore me with their granny advice, I took control of the conversation and told them that the police would definitely come and check me out when we cross borders, as I had a passport picture that showed my yarmulke ( what was I thinking  ??? ). (It is rare that they wake up passengers to check them; the way it works is, that before going to sleep, the steward of the wagon, takes everyone's passport and tickets and returns them in the morning).

The beds were setup 3 floors (bunks) on each side, with the entrance in between. I was on the top floor.

Around 2 am, I heard someone fumbling with the lock, and finally opening the door to come in. as the light in the hallway was off, it was pitch black in the room. I didn't give it much of a thought, and jumped on the intruder. After a short struggle, finally someone turned on the light, and I was on top of an Italian cop holding him by his neck... (I started seeing visions of solitary confinement with rats running around...)

I stood up straight away, and I asked the other cops that started coming in, why he didn't turn on the light as they normally should do, and that i thought it was a thief. They said something in broken french/English, but apparently I asked a the right question, and they calmed down.

It was apparently the genius steward that had told them to pay me a visit. The train was supposed to have a stop in Lyon (France), go down all the way south, and then east into Italy to the following stop. Those chachomim changed the routing to cut through Switzerland, i.e. south east (without stops there). My ticket didn't allow me to travel through Switzerland, and after some clarifications I went back to sleep.

Re: jokes, any type goes.Whats the difference between mashed potatoes, and pea s Three men arrive in heaven all around the same time. St. Peter sees the three men and proceeds to explain to them that Heaven is becoming very full, and they can only allow 1 out of every 3 people into heaven. So to choose which guy out of three that gets into heaven, St. Peter decides to let the person who had the worst death in. Peter takes the first guy aside and he begins to tell his story:

"Well Peter I had been having a very rough week. I have been suspecting that my wife has been cheating on me for a long time, so one day I left work early to catch her in the act. When I got home, sure enough there was my wife in bed naked, but the bastard wasn't in bed with her. I searched the entire house when I finally found the prick dangling outside my back balcony. I lived on the 8th story, so I started stomping the guys fingers trying to get him to fall off, but the asshole wouldn't fall. I went back into my room and got a hammer and smashed his fingers again. finally the guy fell off and landed in a big pile of bushes, but the bastard was still alive! I went and unplugged my refrigerator, threw it off the balcony, and finally killed the guy. After that though I felt so bad that I went into the back room and shot myself."

St. Peter agrees that this is definitely an unfortunate way to die, but goes on to the second guy;

"Well Peter, I had just bought this book on Yoga and decided to give it a try. I went back home to my tenth story apartment and preceded to try this new book, when I lost my balance and fell out the window. Luckily I grabbed onto a balcony two stories down, when out of nowhere some guy starts stomping on my fingers! Thank G-d i held on, and when he left I tried to pull myself up, but then he comes out with a hammer and breaks my hands! I couldn't hold on any longer and fell 8 stories down. Luckily there were bushes to break my fall and I only had broken bones and was lucky to be alive. the last thing i remember however is a giant refrigerator landing on me and killing me."

Once again St. Peter agrees that this is a horrible way to die, yet he goes onto the third guy:

"Alright Peter picture this. You're bare @ss naked inside of a refrigerator..."

Nice Story During the Holocaust, a large group of Jewish women were rounded up to be sent to the gas chambers. As the group gathered their possessions to take with them into the camp the evil Nazi officers called out to all the villagers who were standing by watching, "Anything that these Jews leave behind you may take for yourselves, because for sure they will not be coming back to collect them!"
Two Polish women who were standing nearby saw a woman towards the back of the group, wearing a large, heavy, expensive coat. Not wanting to wait to see if others got the coat before them, they ran to the woman and knocked her to the ground, grabbing her coat and walked away. As the Jewish women were being led away, these two Polish women lay down the coat to divide the spoils of what was hiding inside. As they rummaged through the pockets, they discovered gold jewellery, silver candlesticks and other heirlooms, but still, as they lifted the coat it seemed heavier than it should be. After further inspection they found a secret pocket, and hidden inside the coat was a little baby girl. Shocked at their discovery, one of the women insisted to the other, saying: "I don't have any children, and I'm too old to have now. You take all the gold and silver and let me take the baby".  The deal was agreed and the Polish woman took her new 'daughter' home to her delighted husband. They raised the Jewish girl as their own, treating her very well, but never told her anything of her history. The girl excelled in her studies and became a successful paediatrician, working in the top hospital in Poland.
After some years the girl's 'mother' passed away. A week after, she received a knock at the door. An old woman invited herself in and said "I want you to know that the woman that passed away last week was not your real mother..." and she proceeded to tell her the whole story. The girl did not believe her at first but the old woman said to her "When we found you, you were wearing a beautiful gold pendant with strange writing on it which must be Hebrew, I am sure that your mother kept the necklace, go and look" and with that parting advice she left.

The girl went into her 'mother's jewellery box and found the necklace just as the woman described. She had it extended and wore it every day, but thought nothing more of her Jewish roots.
Sometime later, she went on holiday abroad and saw two Lubavitch boys. Seizing the opportunity she told them entire story and showed them the necklace. The boys confirmed that a Jewish name was inscribed on the necklace but did not know what to say about her status. They recommended that she send a letter to the Lubavitch Rebbe explaining everything. She sent off the letter and received a speedy reply saying that it is clear from the facts that she is a Jewish girl and since she had a special talent, she should use her invaluable skills in Israel, a place in desperate need of talented paediatrician's.
She took the Rebbe's advice and moved to Israel where she approached a Beis Din who declared her Jewish. She was accepted into a hospital to work, and she met her husband and raised a family.
Some years later...
When there was a terrorist attack at the Sbarro cafe in the centre of Jerusalem in August 2001, this woman was walking nearby with her husband. She told her husband to return home to the kids and she proceeded to rush to the scene where she treated the wounded and helped the injured to hospital.
When she arrived at the hospital she met an elderly man who was in a state of shock. He was searching everywhere for his granddaughter who had become separated from him. She calmed him down and went with him to search amongst all the patients in order to find his granddaughter. Asking how she could recognize her, the frantic grandfather gave a rough description of a gold pendant necklace that she was wearing. After searching amongst the injured, they finally found the granddaughter who was wearing the necklace. At the sight of this necklace, the paediatrician froze. She turned to the old man and said: "where did you buy this necklace from?" "You can't buy such a necklace" he responded, "I am a goldsmith and I made this necklace.  Actually I made two identical ones for each of my daughters. This is my granddaughter from one of them, and my other daughter did not survive the war"
...And this is how the Jewish Polish girl was reunited with her father.
