Transferring United miles to another account Hello fellow flyers,

I am an avid reader of dansdeals.com, but i have never participated in the forums before.

I was hoping you guys can help me with a little issue.

I would like to fly JFK-SYD-JFK next week, according to United it will cost 120k miles.

I have 2 friends that each have 65,000 miles they'd like to give me towards the flight, problem is that United only allows each member to receive up to 15k in his account per calendar year.

Can you guys help me figure this out? or perhaps a viable alternative via BA or an alliance partner etc.

(I fly long haul an average of 10 times a year but never really collected miles because i fly budget airlines mostly)

Thanks,
Yakov

[02/01 11AM New Poll] DDMS Redesign Branding - Help us choose A Logo Edit by JJ:

Option 1:

Option 2:

The whole thing would look something like this:

(The idea behind the icon and slogan is that there are 2 D's on top of each other and the top D is being page turned to reveal the bottom D, Just like Dan reveals Deals)

(You can view some other entries here https://brandamb.designview.io/11847o5bzmd)

Re: DDMS Redesign Branding - Help us choose.
Good idea. Like if the logo were to be shaped to resemble a credit card or a plane...
So dansdeals is only about planes OR credit cards? I dont think it's right to limit the branding to a specific object.

I'm interested to see what option 4 becomes if it is developed to the extent of the "deals revealed" option was.

(Why isn't that in the poll?)

Why did i think Suave is a Chabadnik?...  ;D
I actually come from a long line of litvaks and currently identify as chabreslibach (Chabad, Breslov, Carlibach) - But I do happen to work within the chabad sphere...

Re: [Final Round] DDMS Redesign Branding - Help us choose.
I think that dealsRevealed should be an option in the poll, except if @Suave is doing a lot of work on the new site, that you have to be Makir Toiveh & use one of his logos.
Thank you, but I want what's best for Dan, the brand & its loyal fans - so if my logos are not chosen it wont bother me in the least.

It's up to the big boss, but we might launch the beta site to DDF users in the coming few hours.

Doesn't seem that you get much sleep. ;)
Thanks for noticing - I am averaging 17 hour workdays since I got the development into overdrive

Re: Presenting The New And Improved DDMS Beta
Ok, I'll start by combing...

The top blue bar that has the "sign in/join" (which doesn't work with my DDF login btw), "advertiser disclosure", "forums" etc. is too small. It's not inviting enough to DD/DDF. Once this is enlarged, along with the social media icons to the right there will be no need for the HUGE intrusive social media icons right beneath it.
Which device/browser? Can you post a screenshot?

Can the Disqus comments load on the deal page, instead of taking you to a new page that just contains the comments?
Right now it's taking you to a page with just comments? I'm not sure I understand...

That's true for desktop, not mobile ((as these lines a tiny in mobile & very hard to click)
So clicking on the logo on mobile does not take you back to homepage?

Man that looks amazing, do you get the fish fresh or frozen there?
Always fresh from the market. Odessa is on the sea..

(I took that pic on my erev shabbos shopping trip, all the vegetable stalls were closed due to the -15° frost, only the fish stalls were open)

Re: What Are You Eating?
that's the way to do it....

Anyone here ever had fresh fish
What I mean is Caught yourself cut open and take a piece of Sashimi
Many times.

This one time in Penang Malaysia, I was trying to find something lekovod shabbos but there was absolutely no kosher food to be found. An hour before shabbos, I had given up on the search and am riding my moped on the way back to the guest, I see an old man fishing at the pier. I stop and look into his bucket and sure enough, there's a beautiful parrot fish swimming around in there. Its got the scales & fins so I offer him $1 and he agrees. On my way back to the guesthouse I get lost in thought, trying to figure out what to do now as there's no time to light a fire or kasher a BBQ. Suddenly, I see a mechanic working on a motorcycle at a repair shop. I stop and ask him if I can borrow his blow-torch, he gives me his torch and his mouth dropped when he sees me pull out a brightly colored parrot fish from my bag. I sliced it open, fillet it and grilled it with the torch. Made it back to the guesthouse with plenty of time to spare before zman.

The fish tasted amazing BTW (not the best i've had, but definitely elevated my shabbos)

Has anyone else ever tried Parrot Fish?

Re: DD Logo
What do you say to the people who want to see DD?
I'm afraid of getting banned. 'Nuff Said.

ETA: While I was a fan of "DD" throughout this whole saga, I had kept an eye open for a single D too, I just couldn't find a way to make the single D identifiable & brandable enough.
There are many brands that use a single well designed letter for a multiple word brand name, remember this is a Logo for a brand, not a monogram for a dress shirt.

Re: Thailand Master Thread
Hey,

So I would like to plan the second part my Thailand trip in the south and being that it will be in August I chose to stay in Koh Samui. However I would also love to take a day or 2 trip to Koh Phi Phi and the islands around that part so A) does anyone know if that's doable from koh samui and what's the best way to do it and B) is the weather in Koh Phi Phi as bad as Phuket in august or is it better?

Thanks

Cheapest (but very long & tiring) way to do it would be a ferry to surat thani and bus down to phuket then ferry again to Ko Phi Phi.
But it seems Bankok Airways has daily flights direct from USM to KBV for about $95 then just hop on a ferry from Krabi.

I would suggest skipping Phi Phi if you are traveling in August and just do Ko Pha Ngan & Ko Tao instead (short ferry rides from Ko Samui)
(BTW, September 1st is usually the first day of school in Thailand, which means you will have much more space to yourself on the islands in early September vs August)

  • Paris for $149
  • Stockholm for $160
  • Oslo for $160
  • Copenhagen for $170
