i am really not looking forward to the end of spg. As an spg platinum member I was never in hold half this amount of time for anything. It's really disgraceful and I'm being sent in circles.
Next time call the platinum line no wait...

Does anyone know; may one account closure/freeze affect another account in the same household with same last name and address?
It didn't for me.

Re: Staples: Buy $300 In Visa GCs, Get $20 Visa GC By Mail
Any idea how quickly they restock these cards? If one store was fully sold out last friday, is there a high likelihood they would have it restocked by Sunday? Or does this completely vary by store and other factors?
Very much depends on the store.

Re: Staples: Buy $300 In MC GCs, Get $20 Staples GC By Mail
PSA: Cashier scanned the same card twice. Obviously it failed to activate, but the manager had to issue a refund for the card not activating. He did not realize that it was because it was the same card and he gave me the other never scanned card. I checked before I walked out of the store and realized that the card was not the same and I was able to get my activated card back before it got lost and I would have been out $200

I did try submitting a rebate for that transaction regardless since the rebate printed out, I will report back if it works.

TL:DR - Match the GC to the receipt before walking out, especially if there is any issues.

OT: 3 of my cards had $3 removed before I got to liquidate them. I liquidated the remaining $197 and now have to decide if its worth trying to get back $9 over 3 cards. Does anyone have any experience with the process with these? Is it a huge time sink?
Yes it takes a lot of back and forth and faxing in documents. Personally I would not do it for $9.

Keep in mind that sometimes it's just a hold not an actual charge. Once the hold falls off the money will be available to use. I had that with a few cards that were compromised.

It sounded like it applied to all cards, but of course DROPR is always a concern, though in this case he was higher up than a typical phone rep and he sounded pretty confident in his interpretation of the grandfathering policy.
The confident ones Is where "DROPR" is most applicable!

Plenty of stores are fine with it in the NY/NJ area. You just need to know where to go... (Not answering PM's, on this🤐)

Re: Do you Daven? Just caught up on this thread.... A few observations.....

1) Is anyone else bothered that the primary reason to go to daven is because "one is already spending a lot living the kosher lifestyle?" (At least according to the OP). Is that really what it boils down to?

2) The trend here seems to be that people are not davening (or not davening with a minyon) due to their lack of excitement/connection with Hashem or the Tefilla etc... It's a standard nisayon just like anything else people go through.... Many people understand that learning is important but fall short there as well. OP husband agrees that it's not the right way, yet he's struggling with it, also known as a nisayon.

3) Half of iam's posts were deleted (by him I am assuming) right after writing them... either you beleive what you are saying or you don't.....

4) General litvishe yeshivahs stress learning  a lot more than davening (and the importance and necessity it is for our everyday lives). While the older generation understands and would greatly inconvenience themselves to daven and make minyan, many from the younger generation (while understanding that it is the right thing) don't feel the same level of importance for it, as they would attach to learning or other things.

Lmao this thread is a joke. I love how some people here are suddenly taking it so seriously.
No one is saying its the Bible. It was kept somewhat on point by people posting from experience. Yes you had brokers posting lower numbers and potential sellers posting higher, but it was somewhat real. An innocent person could've taken it seriously.
Some people always feel the need to bring stupidity into every thread. Ironically, the same people then ask "what happened to the good old days on DDF" #endrant

Let's be a little more friendly.
See above post. I have nothing against Elya or yourself, quite the contrary, I believe you both are great contributors to many discussions. My point is simply that not everything needs to be turned into a joke. There are people that were screwed out of many tens of thousands of dollars... There is a time and place for everything.

Re: Ads on DDMS
Friday popcorn in the house!

Lots of good blogs have vanished and many more will in the next couple of years as the walls continue to close in.

I have no idea how someone could think that asking people to unblock ads is worse than a handout. You're not paying a membership fee for reading a site or posting on a forums, nor does it cost you a dime to unblock ads. Obviously when the ads look like Times Sq or cover your whole screen, they don't deserve to be unblocked, but otherwise what exactly is the issue?

The costs to maintain a large website and forum with big traffic spikes are truly massive. Income sources are incredibly fickle and precarious and I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Back when we had direct relationships with the banks there was no need for adsense, but there is clearly a need to diversify income streams.

Yes, BH the site provides a good living for my family and JJs family, but if it stopped being profitable, then yes, it would close.

I'm not asking for donations, just think twice before you decide to deprive a site that you use and enjoy of a revenue stream.
Just saw this. Amazing that you even have to spell this out to people. Thanks Dan and JJ for everything. I always do what I can to support the site. It's basic menshlickeit, how someone can not see that is beyond me.

Re: Vancouver Master Thread
Are either Vancouver/Whistler or Banff/Jasper good trips if bringing a 1 year old along? I haven't read up on them, so just looking for a general consensus - are these places mostly nature hikes (seems that way from TR pics)?
Vancouver/Whistler is definitely more kid friendly, than Banff/Jasper. That being said I have done both with kids and we had a great time.

Re: Destinations with Shuls/Chabads near Points Hotels
I think most people would hold of your definition. You can write the definition in a footnote
I have like 3-4 questions that I ask before, basically lights in staircase, access to staircase without needing a key card to get in and out, motion sensors in the room, manual door to lobby. Ironically whenever making these calls, it always occurs to me that a terrorist would ask very similar questions.....  :o

Interesting that it filled up so quickly. Despite their best efforts, the MSers remain a step ahead of the RATs.
Some do. I unfortunately was less than halfway done. These extra steps are super annoying, especially when you are trying to do your day job as well.

Re: Amex Offers Discussion Thread Last round of offers I used 3 laptops and 2 tablets to try and keep things organized. The issue for me is at a certain point the effort vs reward ratio doesn't cut it anymore. Unfortunately, that is the exact outcome Amex is hoping for, and I can't imagine I'm alone on this.
July 24, 2018, 03:52:22 AM
I for one did not hit hard, as you know many have 99+AU's I only have immediate family with same address,  When i got the credit back it was for a mistake they did, I ended up talking to a supervisor in a dept. I never heard before, can't remember the name, I asked too many questions to understand the new Amex offers, in brief his answer was 1 per card member, not per SSN, for e.g if i had an offer on all my cards, as the primary holder, that once i used that offer on one card, that is the only allowed credit, if i used it on more cards, no credit or reverse charges, and as long as I as the primary used a certain offer, then all AU,s are not eligible for credit. So AU's are no longer useful.
Thanks for sharing that. At this point im not sure if its a case of DROPR or not. Even their updated terms indicate that its limited to one per card member. Based on their terms it would be a very difficult argument to make that the primary automatically disqualifies all AU's just because the primary got the offer already...

Re: Seasons supermarkets files for bankruptcy
Kosher supermarkets cater to a niche market. They can ONLY be profitable in areas that have a large FRUM Jewish community.

Seasons was expanding too quickly and biting off more than they could chew. Upper West Side? The lease alone probably wipes out any profits. Many massive retail chains like Walgreens, Rite Aid etc overpay for leases in Manhattan hotspots and take losses just to have a presence there. Seasons canít sustain that.
Couldn't agree more. I don't think the one in Passaic ever made money. They were paying rent through the roof, and it just wasn't that busy....

Yup not to mention that Seasons forced the other store to up their game big time.... competition is always good.

Re: Verizon FIOS upgrade deals? OR cancel and sign-up?
I cancelled fios 4 days after the bill was generated and the lady claims that it's not a prorated bill and if I cancel 1 or 29 days later I have to pay the full bill.

Can anyone verify that?
Yes, if its internet only. Verizon is the worst. Let me save you my 3 plus hours spent on the phone with supervisors and managers. Verizon will not prorate on internet only packages. I had already been promised that it would be prorated but they told me to go to hell.

They were not able to do that for me as a platinum, back when they were Turnberry Isle resort. IIRC correctly they comped something else for me instead...

Re: Amex Offers Discussion Thread
I've been able to save multiple offers to different cards under same SSN/login last few months.  Worked with staples, lowes, and best buy a month back.    Use my phone and pc and add offers at the same time.  I added the staples and lowes offers to my au account under different login.  Should I be worried about clawbacks if I use the offer on the au account as well since the transactions show up under the main account?
It was a problem for some last time. You should be able to easily fight it with Amex though, as it is one per person.

January 16, 2019, 03:12:43 PM

Thereís no shortage of brokers on google search results that they can shop around by.
Jewish law disagrees with you.
