Re: Hebrew National being sued for not being kosher @Steve2
Great having you back. However, any chance you could throw in a few more periods and capital letters into your posts to make them easier on the eyes?

Ex-TLV Routes and Flights Discussions Figured it would be nice to discuss all ex-TLV flights in one thread.
This could include new routes, closed routes, equipment changes on routes, etc.

For example, I had no idea that Korean Air has a direct flight to ICN from TLV a few days every week. Anyone ever take this route?

Re: Morocco master thread
very time consuming and most have me in them.
I've seen you before, and while you're no Brad Pitt, you're not half bad.
You underestimate yourself.

Re: "hocker" is a thief! I disagree.
I've met him and hosted him, and he comes across as being very ehrilch, as well as being religious.
While I myself wouldn't marry him (for a variety of reasons), I would consider reading him to other people.

Re: Areivim USA - Coronavirus Regarding the question of maaser, wouldn't this be similar to chinese auctions where the potential of benefiting is also quite low but must be taken into account?
I recall hearing that the expected value of the benefit needs to be deducted from the amount donated, but i could be sorely mistaken.

For example, assuming both spouses are 35 years old, and have 5 children (500k payout), and the annual mortality rate for the male if 0.04% and 0.03% for the female, their expected benefit at age 35 is approx $350, and they've paid $28*12 = $336 in premiums/donations.

So in this case, wouldn't there be no maaser to write off, or am I making a mistake in my estimate?

edit: seems like there are differing opinions when it comes to chinese auctions. Saw a good summary here.

Re: Areivim USA - Coronavirus
A question that always bothers me the most when judging areivim, how many of those would of had life insurance if not for this organization?

a prominent askin told me there is over 40 niftorim from coved that left behind unmarried children, that have no lLI or areivim
It's a good point, and a reason that Rabbanim and askanim should be strongly promoting ppl purchasing LI in order to protect their families.

Re: Areivim USA - Coronavirus
If we still can get a pool of people at all ages signing up and contributing as it is charity it can be sustainable
when a financial system relies on new ppl signing up in order to be sustainable... :)

Re: Could It Get Any Worse? Charedim Refusing Corona Tests
How about inform everyone without being tested?
Unless s/o is diagnosed positive, his contacts are highly unlikely to quarantine as it's a big disruption to life and work. And "close contact" is typically with ppl in the general public, who he'll have no way to contact.

Nor do i think that most ppl who refuse to test despite having symptoms are actually self-quarantining in order to keep those around them safe.

Hopefully, they'll be able to crack down and punish ppl who purposely put others in danger.

Re: Things To Do In Israel Master Thread
Anyone familiar with Highway 31 down south between Beer Sheva and the Dead Sea, is it a safe road- meaning does it go near Arabs at all?
You're unlikely to find any highway in Israel that doesn't "go near Arabs at all". Nor is that correlated with being a safe road.
If you look on a map, you'll see that 31 passes by Arab/Bedouin towns.
If the questions is whether it goes over the green line, it doesn't.

Re: Where can I get it? (Israel edition)
Iím looking for cherry tomato plants in Jerusalem.  They did not have it at the nursery at the botanical garden.  Any place in center of city, shuk area or katamon area?
It's too early for planting tomato plants. You can start with seeds in the house.
Dirt has to warm up some more before planting them ourdoors.
