Re: The funny/strange/interesting pictures thread

Rebitzin David from BJJ once saw Shloime Carlebach at a Bris looking into the Ezras Nashim for the mother; she told him "לברית הבט ואל תפן ליצר".

Re: Bingo wholesale club in Brooklyn
Even if Mehadrin sells it to Bingo for the same price that they sell it to other stores, Bingo can (& should if they stick to their motto) sell it for cheaper then other groceries (& make less on each item, but sell more. Quantity vs quality)

For example Bingo gets golden flow milk for the same $2.40 that all other groceries get it, but all groceries charge a minimum of $2.79, while Bingo sells it for $2.49, making a smaller profit, but selling more, selling it at a loss.

It's only due to the pressure from Mehadrin that Bingo shouldn't be cheaper then other groceries.

9 cents on a bottle of milk doesn't cover the electric for the refrigeration...

Re: Take Back Lakewood
That is exactly what's I've been asking all along:
"Frederick (Rob) Robison is extremely knowledgeable and is well known in the senior community.  He has served as a Zoning Board official and is extremely well versed in the law. While I have no dreams of his write in winning, He is an excellent person to write in as the second vote along with Gruman."

TBL is endorsing Robison, notwithstanding the fact that he wrote an OpEd that advocated against the Orthodox schools getting any funding or benefits. If the sole point is to draw votes, write in Mickey Mouse, don't write in a candidate that is negative to our community.

As far as your point, I have not heard any reason to not vote for Raitzik other than the fact that the Vaad endorsed him. HH still thinks you ought to vote for him, so it's not likely that Raitzik has some underlying agenda that is nefarious. So why vote for Robison in the hope that he may change his mind about this very fundamental issue?
Because it might cost Gruman the election. Kapisch?

Re: Take Back Lakewood
I think we all know what happens when the result is didn't.

How about if TBL loses badly tonight? Are the incumbents going to be very emboldened and push the envelope even more?
TBL can't lose, Lakewood can.

Re: Take Back Lakewood
Some here wrote right away at the beginning that if it becomes TBL vs. Yeshiva they are doomed to lose. There were many times along the line that they wrote that going the direction they did would be counterproductive. These people were attacked for supposedly being pro-overcrowding and not wanting change each time they recommended not taking a hard line position. These recommendations came from having seen over many years what did and didn't work. Unfortunately those who could not understand the nuances needed to actually implement changes rather than just make ineffective noise are the ones who, with their noise have undermined all of the progress made over the last few months. Politics is not about making noise but about getting thing implemented. Continuing to expose things will help, but lawsuits are expensive for all sides involved and will not be a viable way to get things done.
If there's anything this election (and the presidential elections) has proven it's that whoever makes more noise wins. Look at Travis's #s.

Personally I think they way forward is lawsuits, and lots of them, with big payouts.

I also believe Travis still has a chance as a write in candidate if he works really hard.

Next year I believe with the seniors cooperation it will be possible to win M&M.
