Re: Israel Master Thread: Things To Do, Places To Eat
Bad experience today with Bentzi Jeep tours. Booked months ago and he confirmed. Decided to reconfirm the night before via email just in case. He asked to start an hour earlier. So I rearranged my schedule, rented a car for the trip to Mitzpe Yericho, and guess what, he wasn't there. Called him on his cell and he claimed I had no reservation. I forwarded back to him his emails and he later replied that's it's my fault for not confirming by phone. Note, we never spoke by spoke prior. What a waste of money on a rented car, gas and time. Going tomorrow for the Kotel tunnel tours. Got to be better. April 06, 2015, 03:03:29 PM |

Manhattan Kosher Restaurants
No Talia's in the wiki? I know it's not the favorite place here, but with all the groupons, I figured there would be some reviews. (And that someone would add their opinion to the wiki.) It's not worth it. I had a coupon on a Groupon and still feel cheated. Would like to see a class action lawsuit for their false labeling of filet mignon and prime rib. January 05, 2017, 08:25:50 AM |

Re: Interesting Articles...
I have seen numerous people politely request to be moved next to someone of the same gender and it has almost always worked. Would you want your daughter sitting next to Trump on a plane? Rather Trump than the Puppa Rebbe's Gabbai. February 16, 2017, 11:28:05 AM |

Re: FBI Raids Orthodox Homes and Businesses in Monsey and KJ
People calm down. You can see from the indictment that this happened many years ago. They may have made mistakes, looks llike they went off of programs, but the FBI is still here to catch. It's not like they recently had these programs. Didn't they get off the programs after the investigation began? June 27, 2017, 10:00:23 AM |

Re: FBI Raids Orthodox Homes and Businesses in Monsey and KJ
+1 I say there should be a policy, anyone getting a tuition break has to give their tzedakah money to the school and not to the flashy tzedakahs orgs. How about: if you get a break you still owe the rest to be paid later (at death if necessary). June 29, 2017, 09:37:15 AM |

Re: Interesting Articles...
I once heard from R' Menashe Reisman that before the Mabul there existed advanced technologies (he had a mekor), and I think he explicitely mentioned cell phones. So not soooo far-fetched... Did he happen to mention if they had Verizon wireless service? January 09, 2018, 06:50:48 AM |

Re: any accountants out there that i can ask a question?
Do work bonuses need to be on the books legally? Is there anything wrong with requesting that my employer give me bonuses in another form? I like to be straight but not stupid. Will you be paying tax on the bonus? I assume you will if you are indeed straight. Remember your parnasa was already set on RH. February 26, 2018, 02:09:30 PM |

Re: Screwed by a CPA-Any advice?
Sounds like an unprofessional accountant. I would fire them and move on. Missing deadlines is a huge deal. Not as bad as missing a criminal trial deadline, but being a professional carries with it a certain level of expected guidance. They clearly missed that mark.

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others
He had Rav Dovid Cohen who agreed with him that many of the tznius guidelines such as long skirts , type of material etc. are opinions of poskim rather than clear halachos with a mekor, but pushed back when Lichtenstein suggested that based on a teshuva of Rav Moshe allowing a tefach of hair to be uncovered etc. there is no obligation to follow guidelines that are machmir , pointing out to Lichtenstein that in places where this is the accepted mode of dress, to dress otherwise becomes assur.... Good. March 06, 2019, 10:31:13 AM |

Re: AN URGENT APPEAL TO THE NY YESHIVA COMMUNITY
LSATs, Regents... any standardized tests. We all know that the government really has no interest in this altogether but were forced to act when confronted with the facts that some boy’s schools do not teach any secular studies. Our focus should be on those schools that are attracting this unwanted attention rather than fighting on their behalf. July 12, 2019, 12:17:58 PM |

Re: Pesach Programs and False Advertising
Most programs have highly negotiable rates. Furthermore, they will certainly say that they had to raise prices significantly to recoup their unprecedented losses. Remember, we are all in this together - except when the owner has a successful year. February 28, 2021, 02:49:38 PM |
