Re: Flights cancelled - strike posibble in the coming days/weeks at El Al
OMG.  Are you F'ing kidding me???
Just saw that they are going on strike for 24 hours begining at midnight Wed.  http://www.businessinsider.com/r-german-pilots-union-calls-for-strike-at-lufthansa-on-wednesday-2016-11 Wonderful.  Ill be somewhere over the north atlantic and will get stuck in Frankfurt... At least they protect better than ElAl... right?

Sure, your TA should be able to rebook you once LH gives out a waiver code.

I had a client during a strike he called LH on his own to have him rebooked, and LH did so and send the tickets to be issued (the phone rep 98% of the time can not issue) and when he got to the airport some 12 hours later it still wasn't reissued, and he had to pay that airline in full. Took a few months till I got back the money from LH.

There is a format for special meal request :
SRSPML-Asian Vegetarian (etc.)

nice format that can be useful ...
SPML is a request free flow, it's then up to the airline to KK or UC.
You can put whatever, like SPML-CHULENT WITH KUGEL CRC

Re: Turkish Airlines
Booked multiple ppl on one itinerary for roundtrip on the recent sale/mistake NYC-TLV. One person cannot fly back on that date, must fly earlier. My only option that I can see is having that person simply no-show to return flight and book a one-way return flight on any airline. This seems simple and no complications (CMIIW) as this person needs to fly to TLV with all the others on same flight but not on the return.
Questions:
1)Much better, if it would work, I would try to cancel that person's entire flight so I could re-book on Turkish with new dates at current prices but per Turkish website looks like that cancels the whole itinerary. Is that correct? Is it possible to cancel one ticket without losing the others?
2) Would also be work if I could call Turkish and have them manually change the return date for that person and then pay full fare for the new roundtrip/difference from the sale fare. Is this option a possibility - would they do that  because they gain the difference in price?
Both (1) and (2) would price-wise be similar to booking one-way return on say Aeroflot, but better because can get 2 free bags.
You ask the airline/booking agent to split off that person and do a change for his return flight

Re: Will the LY Dreamliner have a First Class cabin? (a little hint)
Just wondering.
Is delivery flight flown by Boing pilot or LY?
Delivery is always flown by carrier, paid by carrier (fuel) etc.

Prior to accepting an aircraft, there are some test flights, known as B1/B2 and C1/C2. The B's are paid by Boeing and C by the carrier

They are now flying now Flight 1*789* non-stop t TLV, when they took delivery of a 737 they flew with a stop (overnight) at JFK and CDG for "security" reason whereas other carriers do the stop up north in Canada

Re: Re: GDS Users AMADEUS, SABRE, GALILEO, WORLDSPAN @mrprez27 & @shapsam questions remind me of this

Actually, I'll tell you what it actually sounds like. It sounds like OP just found out that the way that travel agents have access to availability that is not open to the general public is by using a GDS. Then somebody sent him a link to the Amadeus training book (which can be found by google search.) https://www.google.com/#q=amadeus+gds+manual

This made OP think, "Hmmm, I wonder if this could be exploited somehow? I know, the guys at DDF probably know." So instead of just posting, "Guys, can Amadeus be exploited by a non-TA?" he was more subtle and just said, "Let's talk about how travel agents book tickets..." He then threw in some info (sort of) -- "as of my knowledge, travel agents book tickets through a booking program called "Amadeus" -- thereby presenting himself as someone who was bringing info to the table and not merely grasping at straws and fishing for others to cough up all the info. Oh, and then he threw in some proof of his insider knowledge -- "I have got a link to a training booklet of the program" -- which echoes his opening words of "let's talk about...." which makes it sound as if a conversation were to actually start, OP would be able to contribute to it further.

Just my take.  :P

Re: Changing Flight Dates
Anyone know the fee off hand for changing an El-Al  flight going from tlv to nyc?
Want to book it change it to a earlier date.

If this flight was bought through a travel agent should it be changed through them as it will be cheaper or should I go directly through the airline?

Thanks!
Y is $140 Change fee, your agent might charge a fee on top of that. Elal will charge $140+$50

Re: Brussels Airlines saying we never had a confirmed ticket. Both are to blame - SN for this craziness and UA for not checking their bookings, another reason to use a competent Travel Agent  ;)

My guess of the story: OP booked for travel on SN and SN for some reason thats beholds me decided that all BRU-TLV-BRU segments has to be in M class
Code: [Select]
18 SSR OTHS 1A PRODUCT CHANGE TLV-SEE BRUSSELSAIRLINES.COM/TLV FOR MORE INFORMATION
They update all PNRs to M class and the system now awaits a ticket to be issued (it doesn't chap the current one) - and UA never saw, and so didn't many agents who don't check their Queues or didn't realize whats going on till SN canceled the PNR as
Code: [Select]
SSR OTHS 1A SN FLTS CNLD DUE TO TKTL NOT OBSERVED //
And now starts the game whom's fault this is, I blame SN for this craziness and UA for not seeing this in their Queue (Hey don't don't expect that from an Airline/OTA)

Re: Most cities to Auckland new Zealand $340 RT Mistaken Fares Air New Zealand cancellation

Dear Sir/Madam

Introduction

Air New Zealand Limited (Air New Zealand) wishes to advise you that certain Air New Zealand fares were mistakenly filed at prices that were around 10% of their intended value.

Air New Zealand will be cancelling all affected bookings, and this note is to assist you to respond to queries your customers may have.

Background

Between 10:30AM and 1:00PM (Pacific Standard Time) on 23 January 2018, select one-way  and return Economy class fares (fare basis codes ending in -OZS7 and -OZS1) for travel from a number of US cities to New Zealand were mistakenly filed for approximately $100 one-way / $200 return when they normally sell for ten times that amount.

These fares were filed incorrectly as a result of human error.

Air New Zealand has cancelled, or will soon cancel, each booking made in relation to these mistakenly filed fares.

Air New Zealand recognizes the inconvenience to customers who have booked the mistakenly filed fares, but is also aware of a large number of consumers who were alerted to the error through social media and purchased the fares knowing they were a mistake.

Refunds to customers

For each affected customer, Air New Zealand will be refunding the amount paid for that mistake fare.

In addition to the refund, Air New Zealand is also prepared to refund any additional, reasonable and verifiable out of pocket expenses that were made in reliance on the purchase of the mistake fare.  This is in line with the US Department of Transportation guidance on mistaken airfares published 08 May 2015 in respect to 14 CFR part 399.88  Prohibition on post-purchase price increase.

Should you require any assistance in processing refunds, or re-booking affected passengers, Air New Zealand is happy to provide reasonable assistance through our Sales Support team.

For any bookings that have not yet been ticketed but may have the mistake fares stored,
Air NZ will not honor those fares.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this mistake.
Kind regards

Air New Zealand

To use R you must buy an upgradable (expensive) economy ticket, you can't upgrade an award

Alpen-Karawanserai (Hinterglemm) with a bit of Venice Im not the type to write a TR, but as someone that I come here to get info and I didnt see any TR about this place I will try to write up a TR.

Trip Basics: Flight NY to Munich - 6 nights in Hiterglemm, Austria - drive to Venice - 2 nights in Venice - Flight back home

Outbound flight: All I needed was business class non-stop NY to MUC so I can get some sleep to be able to drive to Hinterglemm (about 3 hours drive). United showed award on LH411 departing JFK at 5:40pm arriving Munich 7:55am for 70k miles + $5.60 (which I paid using my CSR which earns 3 points as travel, yielding a total of 16.8 Chase UR points, equivalent to about 35 cents, according to TPGs latest valuations). I really wanted the later flight, which when it opened 2 weeks later & I paid $125 (per ticket) to switch, LH 413 departing EWR at 8:45pm arriving Munich 10:30am. (both LH 411 & LH 413 on that day were 3 class acft J/W/Y - no first class)

Car: Needed a one-way cross-country European rental, which doesnt come cheap a basic search showed me Hertz as the only reasonable option, plus it had a proper Venice branch. Booked a Full-Size car (BMW 3er Aut. - GPS or similar) for 165 base, 163 taxes & 450 One-Way drop fee. (Used Amex Plat CDP). (Price was the same for return at the airport or Piazzale Roma)

Hotel - Austria: Based on many feedback from other people we settled for Alpen-Karawanserai (Hotels website - www.alpen-karawanserai.at & Kosher Site www.kosher-hotel.at). The program is run by the hotels owner itself (not a tour operator) and they have a Heimesh Lady as the booking contact. Email didnt turn out to be the best form of communication, so my wife made some phone calls, back & forth regarding dates & rooms (they have a min 7 nights after Tisha Bav) till we got something that worked for us, Deluxe Room with Balcony for 6 nights, rate 450 per night for 2 + 1,70 village tax per person per night. Their rates are non-refundable, but they offered me to hold the room for 3 days while I confirmed my fights etc

Hotel - Venice: While I could have booked basically any SPG/Marriot hotel with points, I decided to stay close to Chabad (for easy access to food/Minyan), so based on rate & room type I booked the La Palazzina Veneziana (Which is more like a B&B) - Superior Double Room, Terrace, Canal View for 199,80 per night.

Return Flight: While my wife wanted to catch the first flight home from VCE, I wanted to do it more exotic.. Had my eye on the EK MXP>JFK flight. EKs site kept on erroring out when I tried to search availability, but I knew it was wide open as all 14 seats were available for sale. Tried my contacts by EK, and they told me I should do a waitlist, (didnt know EK allowed). Called up and made a waitlist reservation. Kept on checking a few times a day till it finally cleared (EK didnt email me that it cleared) and I got it ticketed (85k and $294.71 in taxes). I booked their Chauffeur service home from JFK & from Stazione Milano Centrale to MXP airport. I then booked on ItaliaRail (Trenitalia) a business class seat from Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia to Stazione Milano Centrale on Frecciarossa 9724 for $76 per person.

Re: Brooklyn, NY, 1 Arrested During BP Hachnasas Sefer Torah ...!!
The one where he clearly walks back in front of the car after being told to get out of the street multiple times? I don't care about your race, gender, religion, or anything for that matter. Behave yourself and you won't get into trouble. Cop can be right or wrong it makes no difference. This guy appeared wrong from what I saw and needs to own up to that before he can criticize the cops.
This is starting to feel like FT where everyone is on the airlines side...

You know Rubashkin did bank fraud?

So this guy walks back in from of the car, does he gets 10 years jail for this? Walking back in front of the car is a felony? Which class?
I don't believe the patrol guidelines say to do what the cop did

What is clear, the cops arrived here like a cop has been shot, and like Yossi Gestetner said *Hence resists which becomes the reason for arrest...*"
