Paris Master Thread Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Paris for the end of March and I need suggestions. I'm planning to get there Wednesday morning and leave Thursday evening and would prefer to stay in District 4 (Rue des Rosiers). I need advice on the following:
1. Decent hotel in that vicinity
2. Minyanim
3. Good breakfast
4. Restaurant for dinner
5. "Must visit" patisseries chocolatiers etc.
6. Tourist attractions (remember, I'm being there for less than two days)
7. Getting around
8. Any other useful information......

Thanks in advance!!!!! :)

"Dear Fellow Jew
Even though the current economic situation is very tough for all of us, we
turn to you for help for a Chosson who just recently got engaged. His whole
life nebach has been one of great tragedy, his parents were divorced when he
was still a young child and when he was just eighteen years old his mother
was a passenger in a car that was involved in major accident and
unfortunately died as a result of  the injuries she sustained.
Due to his family situation he had no other choice other than to join the army, and now at the age of twenty-eight  after many years of hardship and
great difficulty he has finally found his zivug.
We trust you won't turn him away in his time of greatest need.

use a car not only to drive have you ever been stuck in traffic?

Does your car have windscreen wipers? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a car: If you are ever stuck in heavy traffic, and are in a big rush to get someplace, get out of your car and lift up both wipers. Now, get back in your car and put it into neutral. While pressing on the brake, switch on the rear de-mister and then turn the heat all the way up. As you do this you will notice the wipers expanding, and moving to the side. If you do this correctly, they should resemble wings. Now change quickly into reverse, hit the gas and your car will start lifting up. Once you're in the air, you drive as you would on the road. Saves you from wasting precious time on the road. Make or model is no object. This will work on ANY car with the above specifications.

Editorís Note: It works fine! I tried it out, and the birds eye view of the BQE is amazing!!!!!

Food/Recipe Thread With the male to female ratio on the forums currently at 4.9:1, this thread might not be very popular , but I'm hoping that the few (self-proclaimed?) foodies around here will chime in. Post here your favorite dishes and/or recipes, or ask other members for recipe ideas.

To start it off, does anyone have a good recipe for braised short ribs? (Please only post recipes that you've tried, or know that they're good. I know how to use Google :).

Re: Tisha Ba'v movies
How is that sad?
The Biur Halacha says regarding the minhag of watching movies on TB, that it doesn't necessarily have to be a sad movie, as long as it's not a rom-com.

Re: Brooklyn Restaurants
Leibel's twitter post proves that it's not hasagas G'vul if there is so much business to go around that there are still 25+ minute waits for basic pizza in 2 places right across the street from each other.

I've waited 25+ minutes for simple dishes in empty restaurants. It doesn't prove anything...

Re: Why do some Jewish communities prohibit women from driving?

Because women are bad drivers.

Simple as that.

Re: London Master Thread
I'd say to skip Reubens and just get DD sandwiches. Liked it better and just a couple of euro.
You can also get food from the Kosher section in Selfridges Food Hall.

Re: Kosher Meals - Can we do better?
Me too! It is part of the experience :)
Me too. I actually go to high end restaurants and and ask them to cook my meal the way Borenstein does because I love it so much.

Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
Just went to Belz. Never went to a kaporos place without smells. Very impressed. Was $13.50

Also the chickens have space to roam around with bowls of food and water.

Re: Impossible Burger 2.0 I had the Impossible Burger at Mocha Bleu and contrary to someone's experience above, it was to put it nicely - disgusting. It did not remotely resemble meat in look, taste or texture. Let's just say I would have taken JJ's raw burger over this any day.

To add insult to injury, they charged $3 (IINM) extra for a slice of cheese (the only reason you buy this in milchig restaurant).

It is no more innovative IMHO than the standard parve soya fare that's popular abroad. I think that all the hype is from vegans who are overly enthusiastic about any meat substitute, not carnivores who prefer a piece of meat, but care limited by kashrus restrictions.

I am not getting my hopes up for the 2.0.
