Re: Air France Business award CDG-JFK VS BRU-JFK to save 4K You HAVE to take the train from zyr. At least in my experience. And yes it is a very good way to save money with cash fares

However, for the way back into France you can ditch the train since you have to take your luggage at the airport anyway (if you are a FF and afraid to be shutdown etc you can go to the train ticket desk and ask them to print the ticket and then leave since they have no way to further verify if you took the train or not). If you do want to use the train but want to go on a different train, ask the agent at the train desk and they should do it no problem.

When you get to zyr Air France has a check in counter where you check in the same way you would at the airport including getting your luggage from you on certain flights.

You can also book a direct flight from Brussels with delta which should be priced similarly. The logic is that Air France and KLM are one company and based in France and the Netherland with Belgium stuck in the middle so they do this to attract the Belgian customers to fly with them since they’re also larger then Brussels airlines

Re: What do you eat after a fast? It’s the opinion of Rabeinu Tam who lived 7-800 before satmar became a thing...

The reason why you associate it with Satmar is because many Rabonim in Hungary followed his opinion

Re: Saudi Arabia
Mind to elaborate?

The desert scenery is similar to Arizona and the like, the streets are super wide like in America, everybody drives, big percentage of the cars are American cars, in general, they love American brands and there are tons of American chain food places all over. combining all these together, when I drove around I felt like it was the most similar country to America I've ever been to besides Canada (I've been to 70+). Obviously there are differences to mentality, style, burkhas and Alla akhbar ;) etc but these are striking and very external

On another note some very interesting stuff was the Mechitza they have in the food places... I went to two Starbucks one was a full wall completely separated one was like an open orthodox mechitza  :P

There's also the five prayers a day when all stores close for like a half an hour... I went to Starbucks and was about to order when suddenly the guy tells me sorry we're closed now "huh??" "we have brayer" it took me a minute and a few repeats to realize that he meant prayer lol

Re: Paris Master Thread It's very cool and funny reading everyone's perspectives on arabic drivers and city driving lol

I think the bottom line is that it depends on the type of person you are and what driving experience you have. I personally don't understand what's wrong with Paris Uber drivers, took it several times and never had any issue they were all very nice and better service then NYC.

But personally I also think that if you have city driving experience and comfortable driving manual or renting automatic, it might make sense to rent a car, especially with kids. Definitely not like driving in midtown Manhattan for example. One advice is that you might want to rent a smaller car over a big minivan or 7p SUV, it will give you an easier time navigating the streets and parking lots. I know for myself that when I have a car I am much more inclined to go out and visit more places. but if you come from middle America and wouldn't drive in Brooklyn then definitely do not rent a car. there's plenty of other ways to get around such as bikes, scooters, bus, subway, trains, trams, Ubers and other taxi apps

Re: Flying with infant
I am planning a trip for August to Europe and am taking along my baby who will then be 21 months old. My question is should I rather book 2 business class seats and have her share with me or DW, or should I book economy tickets and buy an extra seat for her? Its a long haul flight and we have never yet taken her on anything farther than Florida.

When we flew TLV-JFK we booked one seat in economy and one business and we switched off a couple of times. baby got his seat and we were able to get some sleep as well. on a 12+ hour flight it was the best option for us.

Re: Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park
Jackson is ideal for the Tetons, not Yellowstone.

I flew to SLC, drive to Jackson, stayed for two nights, following day spent at grand Teton and the next drove from Jackson to Yellowstone.

(This way I also gained not having a stopover, getting a really good car for a very decent price, beautiful drive to Jackson)

Re: Kosher Around The World Topics? I doubt they will be rating Hashgochos. (Almost) nobody does that publicly.

Something that can be helpful for many people is what is called in the Kashrus jargon “Group 1” or the product that are Kosher without certification.

Countries opening up/waiving testing requirement for vaccinated travelers I thought it can be useful to have a thread where it can all be posted.

Please don’t book trips just based on this list and research it further as rules can change. Another thing is that certain countries might only accept certain results.

What I heard so far:

Iceland, Cyprus, Estonia, Poland, Romania
Waving testing requirement for those vaccinated (unclear if Iceland requires the vaccine to be taken in the EU). EU passport required.

Vaccinated people can enter.

Vaccinated people can enter with negative PCR test.

Israel - Greece bubble
Israel and Greece agreed to accept each other’s vaccinated citizen without limits or restrictions.

Re: When will a vaccine *really* be available?
Medgar Evers college vaccination site open with 3k daily. Appointments available to eligible recipients in zip codes 11207, 11212, 11208, 11206, 11233, 11213, 11221, 11226, 11236, 11216, 11225, 11210, 11203, 11238

Make sure your first or second dose don’t come out on Shabbos or YomTov.

There’s also a Queens location at York College, probably also limited zip codes.

Is there a way to find out if this is Pfizer or moderna?

Re: Friends don't let friends fly spirit. The real issue is this ridiculous policy of masking 2 year old kids. AFAIK the US is the only country in the world with such an insane policy.
All other countries vary between 5-12.

Re: Kosovo Master Thread I was there too

Even managed to get pulled over by police, brought to the police station and almost got detained together with my friends until someone noticed our tzitzis and asked what it was, when we told him we were Jewish they got so excited and litterally the entire police station came out with the chief shaking our hand and wondering about us etc saying that it was a great privilege to meet Jewish people... they ended up escorting us back to the main road and showed us our way back

Re: Kosovo Master Thread Huh?
I was in Kosovo. And the people were Muslims. And they love Jews. At least the ones I met.

Actually both in Kosovo and Albania some people were suspicious of us for being nothing less then ISIS! Apparently our birds and yarmmulka’s (one of us had a breslev kind) gave that impression. I was suspected of many things in my live, but that was the weirdest and funniest thing!

We also saw some religious Muslim who thought we were his “brother”...

Apparently a few weeks prior there had been some ISIS people caught in Kosovo and it was in the news
