Re: Re: Re: Hurray, SPG Dead Sea is back!!! Hey! Long time DD (the blog) reader, first time DDF poster!

I'm gonna be staying in the Le Meridien this Shabbat, so I spoke to the Mashgiach to clarify the Kashrut. Hope this info helps anyone that was searching around like I was.

They are certified Kosher from the local Rabbanut. (I think Ein Bokek)
The meat is NOT Glatt.
The chicken is Rabbanut Mehadrin.
The cooking is Bishul Yisrael according to the Rema, not the Beit Yosef.
The vegetables are Gush Katif. The cabbage is NOT.

I didn't understand what the Mashgiach said about the cheeses but I will ask him tomorrow. Most likely, some of the hard cheeses will not be Mehadrin.

The prices for the meals are as following: 60nis for breakfast, 75nis for Shabbat lunch, and 100nis for Friday night. Pretty cheap, actually.

do you really think the bedatz relies on rabanut trumos and maasros? is this official policy? does badatz allow their stores to use rabanut fruit?

what are you guys smoking? ill have some...

They probably don't rely on them as an official policy, but its not a stretch to say that they know in reality rabbanut Jerusalem fruits are ok.

I'm smoking rabbanut weed, so you're gonna have to sit this one out :P O0

**Shipping Master Thread** What service To Use When I think its a good idea to have a thread to discuss all the domestic shipping options. There is one other thread, but its only for fedex http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=27223.

Anyways, here goes my question: I shipped out a valuable phone with USPS, and paid for signature confirmation and for insurance. After a couple days the USPS tracking says that a note was left on the door. I figured it would be re-delivered or picked up and waited a little more. When there was no change in status, I called up the buyer and was told that the mailman (yes CV, I know already) stupidly left the package on the porch. What would be a fair amount to claim from the USPS for mishandling my package? Keep in mind, that as far as their systems shows, they lost my package.

Re: Maran Harav Ovadia Yosef ztzvk"l A small personal story. About 5-6 years ago I arranged with his son to see Chacham Ovadia after mincha. After praying, I quickly went upstairs and entered his room about a minute or two after mincha was over.

I was shocked to see him already in his chair, jacket off, glasses pushed up, pen in hand, concentrating deeply while writing the continuation of a long piece that he didn't finish before mincha. His son literally had to raise his voice while standing right in front of his desk to get the Rav's attention. To see someone so deeply entrenched in learning in just a few seconds was truly special to me.

Re: "Ex-Hasidic Woman Marks Five Years Since She Shaved Her Head" There's nothing sefardi about what I said. A man sets the halachos of his home; that's the halacha. (Similarly, ever heard that a man can be meifer his wife's neder?) That doesn't mean they can not have a discussion about it. They can have the discussion, and if he still decides that she shouldn't cut her hair, she must listen to him.

I'm not saying that it's reasonable for a husband to decide to go against all his wife's chumras/minhagim. However, there are minhagim or chumros that impact the husband, and those are/should be the ones that in the end of the day, in the husband hands.

Unfortunately, the feminist doctrine seems to have seeped into a couple of posters hashkofas.

Re: Lakewood Shabbos rally You swine. You vulgar little maggot. Don't you know that you are pathetic? You worthless bag of filth. As we say in Texas, I'll bet you couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. You are a canker. A sore that won't go away. I would rather kiss a lawyer than be seen with you.
You are a fiend and a coward, and you have bad breath. You are degenerate, noxious and depraved. I feel debased just for knowing you exist. I despise everything about you. You are a bloody nardless newbie twit protohominid chromosomally aberrant caricature of a coprophagic cloacal parasitic pond scum and I wish you would go away.
You're a putrescence mass, a walking vomit. You are a spineless little worm deserving nothing but the profoundest contempt. You are a jerk, a cad, a weasel. Your life is a monument to stupidity. You are a stench, a revulsion, a big suck on a sour lemon.
You are a bleating fool, a curdled staggering mutant dwarf smeared richly with the effluvia and offal accompanying your alleged birth into this world. An insensate, blinking calf, meaningful to nobody, abandoned by the puke-drooling, giggling beasts who sired you and then killed themselves in recognition of what they had done.
I will never get over the embarrassment of belonging to the same species as you. You are a monster, an ogre, a malformity. I barf at the very thought of you. You have all the appeal of a paper cut. Lepers avoid you. You are vile, worthless, less than nothing. You are a weed, a fungus, the dregs of this earth. And did I mention you smell?
If you aren't an idiot, you made a world-class effort at simulating one. Try to edit your writing of unnecessary material before attempting to impress us with your insight. The evidence that you are a nincompoop will still be available to readers, but they will be able to access it more rapidly.
You snail-skulled little rabbit. Would that a hawk pick you up, drive its beak into your brain, and upon finding it rancid set you loose to fly briefly before spattering the ocean rocks with the frothy pink shame of your ignoble blood. May you choke on the queasy, convulsing nausea of your own trite, foolish beliefs.
You are weary, stale, flat and unprofitable. You are grimy, squalid, nasty and profane. You are foul and disgusting. You're a fool, an ignoramus. Monkeys look down on you. Even sheep won't have sex with you. You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot.
And what meaning do you expect your delusionally self-important statements of unknowing, inexperienced opinion to have with us? What fantasy do you hold that you would believe that your tiny-fisted tantrums would have more weight than that of a leprous desert rat, spinning rabidly in a circle, waiting for the bite of the snake?
You are a waste of flesh. You have no rhythm. You are ridiculous and obnoxious. You are the moral equivalent of a leech. You are a living emptiness, a meaningless void. You are sour and senile. You are a disease, you puerile one-handed slack-jawed drooling meatslapper.
On a good day you're a half-wit. You remind me of drool. You are deficient in all that lends character. You have the personality of wallpaper. You are dank and filthy. You are asinine and benighted. You are the source of all unpleasantness. You spread misery and sorrow wherever you go.
I cannot believe how incredibly stupid you are. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid so stupid that it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. You are trans-stupid stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid collapsed on itself so far that even the neutrons have collapsed. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. You emit more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Your writing has to be a troll. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know. I'm sorry. I can't go on. This is an epiphany of stupid for me. After this, you may not hear from me again for a while. I don't have enough strength left to deride your ignorant questions and half baked comments about unimportant trivia, or any of the rest of this drivel. Duh.
The only thing worse than your logic is your manners. I have snipped away most of what you wrote, because, well... it didn't really say anything. Your attempt at constructing a creative flame was pitiful. I mean, really, stringing together a bunch of insults among a load of babbling was hardly effective... Maybe later in life, after you have learned to read, write, spell, and count, you will have more success. True, these are rudimentary skills that many of us "normal" people take for granted that everyone has an easy time of mastering. But we sometimes forget that there are "challenged" persons in this world who find these things more difficult. If I had known, that this was your case then I would have never read your post. It just wouldn't have been "right". Sort of like parking in a handicap space. I wish you the best of luck in the emotional, and social struggles that seem to be placing such a demand on you.
P.S.: You are hypocritical, greedy, violent, malevolent, vengeful, cowardly, deadly, mendacious, meretricious, loathsome, despicable, belligerent, opportunistic, barratrous, contemptible, criminal, fascistic, bigoted, racist, sexist, avaricious, tasteless, idiotic, brain-damaged, imbecilic, insane, arrogant, deceitful, demented, lame, self-righteous, Byzantine, conspiratorial, satanic, fraudulent, libelous, bilious, splenetic, spastic, ignorant, clueless, illegitimate, harmful, destructive, dumb, evasive, double-talking, devious, revisionist, narrow, manipulative, paternalistic, fundamentalist, dogmatic, idolatrous, unethical, cultic, diseased, suppressive, controlling, restrictive, malignant, deceptive, dim, crazy, weird, dystopic, stifling, uncaring, plantigrade, grim, unsympathetic, jargon-spouting, censorious, secretive, aggressive, mind-numbing, abrasive, poisonous, flagrant, self-destructive, abusive, socially-retarded, puerile, clueless, and generally Not Good.

We had this discussion before and not everyone believes it can happen to anyone. I find it hard to believe she forgot about the child when she had other children with her.

I used to judge these parents negatively until I read the pulitzer winning article which explains how tragedies happen even to the most caring and responsible parents. For that reason, I give parents benefit of the doubt.

However too many things in this story lead to me believe it was negligence and not just an unfortunate chain of coincidences that typically leads to these events.

Re: 2016 Election Pick Your Poison Master Thread Winners and Losers

Winners:
Trump - pulled off a stunning win that even most supporters didn't think was likely. And his bank account will only grow now.
Conservatives - completed the trifecta, by gaining a majority in the House and Senate
Michael Moore - his spot on prediction from months back predicting which states Trump will win, the only one that predicted he had a wide path
Scott Adams - For never swaying that Trump was going to win, from beginning to the end
Nate Silver - Stayed true to his data and didn't get sucked into the liberal narrative, predicted that a Trump victory was not unlikely. Repeatedly said that HRC 3 point lead was not safe at all
NYT realtime projections - Boy, were those tracking tools accurate and exciting to watch
Alt-news orgs - given how badly the MSM was this election, both by creating narratives that no one cared about and colluding with the DNC, this was a major win for those that give an alternative view
America - proved that we don't need to vote for the establishment
The crow industry

Losers:
HRC and the DNC - They treated her election as a forgone conclusion, and disenfranchised many voters by colluding against Bernie and still losing
GOP - Didn't get behind Trump, but yet Trump drags them to victory. The leaders are not in control
Mainstream media - for completely dropping the ball, for getting sucked into the cycle of their own narratives without trying to pay attention to the actual voter class. Oh, and for getting caught colluding.
Pollsters - Almost all of them were off by 2-3%, which ended up being the difference
LA Times - Despite giving Trump the lead, they were the least accurate poll, missing by 6 points
Slate - What a disastrous load of crap http://www.slate.com/votecastr_election_day_turnout_tracker.html
JTZ - Let's put a fork in this dude

Also gone.

Maybe it's time that companies give us more rights. Imagine USPS stopped delivering your mail because you didn't put enough stamps on an envelope?

Then one day she finally abandons him, which seems really terrible for such an unliked loser. But if your in the friendzone this might turn out to be the greatest event of your life. Lewis is the idiot who decided that his inability to accept the results of an election overshadows the significance of MLK day. And despite your hate for Trump, no one who you consider better than Trump is ever held responsible for saying extremely stupid things. Which is kinda strange. Very interesting but now you opened up another can of worms. If someone says their religion claims G-d told them to do it that makes it ok and not murder. How much deeper you want to dig this hole?

You can't use religion to justify murder in a court of law.
You can use religion to justify it to yourself but you must be willing to face the consequences.

That's 100% false.
There IS evidence of voter fraud and the only question is to what extent. Is it a few thousand or is it much more than that?
Studies have shown that up to 15% (but likely much lower) of non-citizens voted in the 2008 election.

Re: Trump banning 7 major Muslim countries citizens entry into the US
I was basing my comments on what was written here.  I had understood that there was a ban specifically on Muslims.  If incorrect I take it back.  DDF is my primary source of news. Refugees due to religious persecution obviously require distinguishing based on religion.  Very different than a proactive step based on religion.  And of course non citizens don't have the same rights as citizens,  and its a privilege to come here.  Tell that to the boatloads of Jewish refugees who were sent back to nazi Europe

1. Most of the top Muslim countries are not banned entry. The ban is for specific countries that Obama named as countries of "concern".
2. Those boatloads of Jewish refugees would've been accepted nowadays under Trumps laws. So not sure what you're getting at.

Re: Re: Lyft
What is a partisan stance? Is saying the wall or this latest EO is wrong a partisan stance?

Wall- yes, partisan. Tell me one reason why a US company should say a wall is right or wrong.
EO- Saying you care for refugees is okay. Saying that the EO is "wrong" needs basis for that statement that isn't tied to emotions. It is neither unconstitutional nor unprecedented, so don't go ahead and criticize your customers and say that we believe in something that is "antithetical to our nations core values". On a side note, it is interesting how liberals don't realize how hypocritical they have become- example: Lyft- "We stand together...we want our world to be diverse" while attacking customers who don't agree with their narrow opinions. Same for the "he will not divide us" loonies who think that repeating that mantra all day in front of a camera will bring the nation together. They will never say something like "we will stay together" because that would actually be a positive attempt to get people together.

That is why this is so surprising?

No, it's not surprising at all.
I don't find it ironic like the poster I was replying to.
Besides, as I've said a few times, the good thing about electing Trump is that the R's aren't afraid to challenge him. That's called great checks and balances. OTOH Hillary would automatically get every D's support (including MSM) for anything she wanted, no matter how bad the idea. And of course any dirt dug up would be immediately ignored.

Ps. Just wanted to mention because you like balanced news coverage, I don't follow them much, but I find Bloomberg to be by far the closest to the center. CNN is fully left, although not as bad as HuffPo.
