Re: Kobe Bryant, one of the greats RIP!
Shtickle Golus vibes how the oilams so heartbroken. Klal Yisroel in pain needs our sympathy and support more
It’s symptomatic of the golus we are in. Same for those tuning in to Rush or Hannity for hours every day, or lining up at the Trump events. (Many of my political views happen to lean conservative by the way). And there are countless other examples of areas where frum Jews have lost sight of who we are, and that we are on a different trajectory than those around us, as talented as they may be. We are on a journey that spans thousands of years, and scores of host countries and cultures, on a path from Matan Torah to the final geulah. Anyone cognizant of this can not possibly identify in a personal way with the fleeting culture and company surrounding us that will all too soon fade into the forgotten past as surely as the scores of other proud cultures we have outlasted have. Our present environment, as grateful as we are to this malchus shel chessed, is but another brief encounter in our long journey that connects us with eternity.

 Chazal tell us
ותמלא הארץ אותם. שנתמלאו בתי טרטיאות ובתי קרקסיאות מהם, מיד גזרו עליהם לרוש מן המטה, שנאמר ותמלא הארץ אותם
In Egypt, the prototype of all future golus, it was at the point that the Jews started entering the theaters and places of entertainment, identifying with the Egyptian culture, that Hashem caused the Egyptians to turn on Klal Yisrael. As one of the pre-war gedolim once said:
והוצאתי אתכם מתחת סבלות מצרים
When they could no longer bear being part of the culture of mitzrayim
that is the point that they were ready to be redeemed. It’s sad, but simply a symptom of where many of us are holding

Re: RIP/BDE Master Thread
He was jewish
At the recent Jewish Retreat in Rhode Island I met the rabbi who is Kirk Douglas’ rabbi. First time they got together it was for a Shabbat, met in Israel.
He walks into the Shul, and starts chanting... the Friday night service… Lechu neraneno lahashem. Rabbi is shocked that he knew it. Kirk says:
“Rabbi, I’m an actor, I know my lines. But Judaism is all form - no content.”

Why do you say that?

Look, I grew up I an Orthodox home, they hoped I’d be a rabbi, my mother made challah and lit candles, but it’s all form - no content.

So the rabbi asked him:
Imagine if you’d be spending money now the way you understood money as a
child, how would that be?

I’d be squandering it away on non-sense.

Imagine if you’d be eating foods the way you treated food as a child?

I’d be eating junk!

So why are you basing your view of G-d on your view from childhood!

Re: Baltimore Master Thread

Dougie's is the best food in Baltimore though.
I was with you until this, now you've lost all credibility in my eyes.

Re: good board game ideas for Pesach
you didn't seem to understand my question. I was looking for the original of dominion, not settlers
It's called the Dominion the base game. 2nd edition
search amazon for Rio-Grande-Games-Dominion-2nd
sometimes it's on sale, but not today  :(
extensions are great but I would just start with the base game.

Re: Amazon Prime Visa Card   I just discovered you can redeem your Amazon Reward points for a cash value credit, either transferred to your attached Bank account or statement credit on your cc, Vs using to pay for your Amazon purchases.

I always thought I'm tied to redeem for my Amazon purchase, felt the need to buy something to redeem my rewards and I lost out on a $500 purchase.
For Example If i would use my Amazon Rewards card I would gain an additional 2500 ($25) Points or have the ability to use my Amex or Chase cards which have the Extended warranty and protection.

That means there shouldn't be any reason one would be redeeming their points on Amazon upon checkout, rather redeem it for cash back and then use a cc on the purchase to earn additional points like meantioned before.

Can't believe that I'm only bumping into this option now.
And for the longest time I was redeeming my points on Amazon.
I've collected many Amazon points over the years and I lost out while not knowing this redemption ability.

That makes your effective rebate on Amazon purchases at least 7.5%.
That's a true statement, but then again your 7.5% is limited to use only at select places like meantioned; airfare, hotels, car rentals, and activities.
While if you're not traveling then your better off using the Amazon Prime card from the comfort of your home Vs going to an office supply store and buying a GC, as well you're not getting any of the benefits that the Amazon Prime card has to offer, just to name one off the top of my head, Theft and damage protection up to $500 Per claim.
