Re: Best Sukkah?
Cool concept but seems there's too many pieces and parts that can easily get lost/ break. The main issue though is (besides tedious) if it doesn't lie perfectly flat it's not going to work... Not to mention the pain in the neck it probably is to move to/from storage, with that many pieces. Or the pain of lifting each individual piece up 8 ft and lowering it down the rails...I dont know what you guys are talking about. I just watched the video on the website and it clearly builds itself. Now thats sensible! September 27, 2016, 03:31:45 PM |

Re: 2016 Election Pick Your Poison Master Thread
One of us is experiencing cognitive dissonance. Here's why I think it's you. I'm warning you to stop. Just stop. You don't have to defend sexual assault to explain why you support Trump. You can support Trump for any reason you want. Even just for the hell of it. I'm fine with that. But for the love of G-d, please do not force yourself to rationalize sexual assault. Walk away from this one. "They let you do it" should send chills down the spine of anyone with a mother or a daughter or a sister or a wife. "They let you do it" is a sentiment completely lacking the slightest comprehension of the emotions of another human being. It doesn't matter if it's wealth, power, or fame, or a knife to your throat, "They let you do it" is not a defense against being labeled a total user but the very definition of it. Can you not see that? "They let you do it" is the defense of every child molester who grooms his victims rather than bashing them in the face and raping them. "They let you do it" is the defense of every frat boy who had sex with a drunk girl. "They let you do it" is the defense of every producer in Hollywood who uses aspiring actors for sex. Sorry to be so blunt. November 16, 2016, 10:32:17 AM |

Re: Life Hacks, Post Your Favorites!
When you first open a bottle of soda or seltzer or pop, begin by slowly turning the cap one-quarter turn and wait about 10 seconds, watching for the small bubbles to slow down, and listening as the sssst of escaping gas gets quieter. Then turn another 1/4 turn, and wait another 10 seconds till it quiets down. Now open the cap the rest of the way, and look proudly around as you pour a perfect cup. Don't expect a pat on the back, though, because nobody will realize what didn't happen. But you'll know. Because one day, soon we hope, you'll be at a shul kiddush, balancing a full bowl of aromatic chulent or chili or Hungarian goulash in one hand, and an empty cup in the other, and someone will offer to pour you a drink, and he'll twist that cap quickly, in one fell swoop, and you'll watch as the bottle suddenly erupts, and fizzy, bubbly liquid streams downward, over his greasy hands into your still-untouched chulent or chili or Hungarian goulash, filling the bowl with what now looks like brown soup, which overflows the rim and drips downwards onto your Shabbos shoes, and you'll look up as he sheepishly mumbles "Sorry! Someone must have shaken the bottle" and you'll think NO, YOU DOOFUS!!! DON'T BLAME SOMEONE ELSE! ADMIT THAT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO OPEN A BOTTLE OF SODA! but you won't say that, of course, you'll just smile kindly and say "It's nothing, I'll get another bowl" and you'll return to the table, only to discover that the pan has now been totally emptied of its chulent or chili or Hungarian goulash, and you'll just sigh. How could he know? He's not a DDFer. June 10, 2020, 09:04:23 PM |

Re: Do you know someone who has had Coronavirus after Pesach?
For the benefit of @Lurker I will post the dictionary meaning. I post on here because I owe DDF a great debt. I did not take Covid seriously until a little before Purim. The information posted here was invaluable in educating me in what was (and is) going on, and how to keep my family safe without locking myself in a room and losing my mind. In turn, that information was shared with my family, friends, and community, and from there it was passed on to their contacts, and on and on. Does everyone take me seriously? Hell no! I get laughed at more often than not. But to some people, the posts of DDFers like @yuneeq @S209 @Yard sale @aygart @Dan @CountValentine @Afrages6 @biobook and many, many more have had a huge impact on the lives of countless people they will never meet. It's ironic that it's you who thinks they don't make a difference. I can't count how many Twitter threads and articles YOU posted that were influential in guiding the decisions that I have personally made. I can't speak for others, but I doubt I'm the only one. I used to be a cynic. I lived my life wanting to die. What is life when nothing matters? Then I grew up. Cynicism isn't what happens to frustration when you get older; it's what happens when you stop trying to address your frustrations. There have been a number of comments recently about the changes Covid has brought about to people's personalities. Your posts make me question how Covid has affected you. You are DDF's ultimate Lubavitcher. Your profile picture is 770. The most painful part of the restrictions for you was your inability to daven in 770. The way you talk about your family, your interactions with others, farbrengens, hashkafos, life; everything about you screams I AM A CHOSSID OF THE LUBAVITCHER REBBE!! How can you sit here and tell me that one person can't change anything in the world? That nothing I say on here or do in my life offline can change people's behaviors? Who are you?! You're going to blame old age for cynicism? Throw in the towel, become a fatalist? This is really what you think of life now? This is a Lubavitcher??? And they wonder why people are shocked at the transformations they're seeing in attitudes and behaviors of their peers and acquaintances, family and friends, people they love and respect. Re: Which Songs Would You Like To See on "Off The Record 2"
How long does it take to send a 5 word email? From:Amanda To:Tom Tom, Our web team just received this email from @yungermanchik about the song choices for a potential second album, do you guys at marketing want to take a swing at a response? Best, Amanda From: Tom To:Amanda CC: Andrew; Mike; Joe; Cynthia; Fred: Patty; Sid; Gina; Michael; Michelle;Amy Amanda, Thank you for forwarding me that email. We definitely want to send a timely response that reflects our appreciation for listening to the first album and contributing to the next one. I'm just looping in Amy from legal to hear her perspective on what we should or shouldn't commit to our comment on, as well as a few team leaders who would like to be kept abreast of these opportunities. Tom Sent from my iPhone which is definitely a newer model than yours From: Mike Why am I on this thread? From: Tom Sorry, wrong Mike. Looping in Mike from accounts receivable From: Amy Sure Tom, Have marketing draw up a draft and we'll have our team look at it after the weekend, We're running a bit thin coming off the holiday last month. Best, Amy From: Michelle Amy, It is imperative we respond ASAP! From: Amy Thank you Michelle, we just want to ensure there are no oversights like the project Next fiasco. From Tom Our team has come up with the following: Hi Yungermanchik, Thanks for sharing this link with us. We are so happy you guys enjoyed Off The Record and hopefully we'll use some of your suggestions on the next Off The Record! Happy listening! From: Fred It's perfect From: Joe I need 30 of those by Monday From: Joe Sorry, wrong thread From: Cynthia Do we perhaps want to offer a coupon for future purchases? From: Patty Cynthia, All promotions need to be board approved. I can surface this request at the next Quarterly. From: Cynthia I think it's best to table that idea, we need to send this response much sooner. From: Amy Nicely done, Tom! A couple of things: We can't assume - or appear to have assumed - gender. "Guys" must go. Please don't commit to there being a second release, let alone one called by the same name. From: Gina I'm not sure the response needs to be so lengthy. I'm about to hop onto a cross departmental conference call, perhaps we can brainstorm a few solutions From: Mike I am currently out of the office from Tuesday, 1/16 at midday to Tuesday 1/16 at 3:52 pm. Any urgent messages can be dealt with with by Travis. From:Andrew I don't think we need two exclamation points that close together. Perhaps once Gina's team returns with their offerings, we can circle back to rewording it to be shorter and more impactful. From: Shawn Has anyone seen the email from yungermanchik, we should consider sending a timely response that reflects our appreciation for listening to the first album and contributing to the next one. From: Amy Shawn, We're on it From:Tom Hi Yungermanchik, Thanks for sharing this Dan's Deals link with us. We are so happy you enjoyed Off The Record and we hope to incorporate some of your suggestions on the next bun Happy listening! From:Travis Please include a plug for the website. Re: Andaz mayakoba refuses free test on points stay
"Hyatt is Spreading the Coronavirus," Hotel Guest Asserts after Policy Reversal The Hyatt hotel chain has come under fire for its alleged role in spreading a pandemic, DansDeals Magazine has learned. The accusation came after a Mexico-based hotel refused to supply a free Covid test to a guest, in direct contradiction to the chain's stated policy. "[The] reservation manager claims the free test is only for paid stays," a guest at the Andaz Mayakoba, a Hotel that is part of the Hyatt Brand of hotels, claimed on a prominent online forum. The guest, who was identified only by a username of 'mdv', added that the hotel sent a PDF that supposedly backed up their refusal to supply a test, but the guest pointed out that the hotel website made no distinction between paid or reward stays. The assertion was first posted on Dans Deals Forums, a prestigious travel and points forum that compliments DansDeals.com, a deals site that has earned the top spot in a USA Today survey. The site's administrator, Cleveland-based points heavyweight Daniel Eleff, immediately offered to use his connections to clear up the confusion. "I'll reach out to my Hyatt contact and see what they say," Eleff posted on the forum. The situation was later resolved after the hotel conceded and agreed to supply a test. Poster mdv reported the change of policy about two-and-a-half hours after his initial post noting the refusal. It has been reported that Hyatt secretly threated adverse actions against Eleff if he would publicize the story, with their main ammunition being their ability to portray Eleff as a super-spreader, given his side job of singing at predominantly Jewish weddings. Eleff, however, has been documented as having eleffated antibody levels, thus effectively mitigating the risk of virus spread. DansDeals Magazine has not been able to independently confirm claims of any threats, however. February 10, 2021, 08:05:19 PM |

Re: Posts that didn't get their deserved number of likes
I finally figured out what happened to ddf JJ asked for everyone to like @Something Fishy's post. Embarrassing this doesn't have 100 likes... Then, @YitzyS explain the hesitation to do so Many DDFers are hesitant to like posts because they are afraid their likes may cause it to top your 10,000th post, and that would put DDF in disarray... Only to have @yesitsme ignore the warning your honor Then, as predicted by @YitzyS the forums went haywire Does anyone have an idea to help @yesitsme? He seems to be stuck in a time loop in 2017 and is trying to send us signals. Okay, guys, any recommendations? Should we call Dr. Middos, Doc Brown, or HG Wells? We need to get yesitsme back without him running out of gas or getting lost in time. Anyone have experience with time travel? So, I looked for a solution to fix the problem, and a solution does exist ![]() So it looks like there's a recount feature, which will recalculate and correctly allocate likes; and any duplicate likes/unlikes will be consolidated into 1 like/unlike. Except.... It doesn't work ![]() Recount feature used to work, but now it just crashes DDF and I need to restart the AWS instance to fix it. Haven't tried that in a while now. Are we going to be stuck like this forever?? ![]() March 09, 2021, 12:57:21 AM |
