Re: How much milk do you have in your fridge?
Forget the milk and apples, I'm inundated with cherry tomatoes which my (any) kids won't touch. So any recipe ideas which include milk apples and cherry tomatoes would be appreciated ;)

This doesn't help with the milk and apples, but I had a similar problem a few weeks ago with cherry tomatoes.  I saw they weren't going to last long, so I chopped them up, cooked them with other vegetables and tomato sauce, till they got good and soft, then made shakshouka out of it.

Re: Computer Troubleshooting/Help Master Thread
My hp pavilion 15 is playing up. It boots up normally and will work for approx 3 minutes before the screen just goes blank while the fan continues running. Sometimes the caps lock will flash 3 times. Have tried removing battery pressing power etc with no luck. Any ideas?
The caps lock blinking 3 times seems to point to a memory issue.
Try taking out the ram chips and putting them back in. If that doesn't help, try booting with just one stick of ram and if you have the same issue try the other stick. Try swapping slots to confirm it's not an issue with the slot.

You can all have different opinions. When you attack with bigot, ignorance or stereotyping just because I have a different view then that is not fair.

If you stereotyped, then it's fair. I don't answer for the others and their opinion of you. This isn't the first time I've called you out for stereotyping, and I've accused you of having a double standard more than once. You don't have to like my opinion, but that doesn't make it unfair.

Make it any color you want, honey. Just don't be seen in public with it.  :P

Question: why does your bashing of Jewish values of modesty not amount to bigotry?

Re: Life Hacks, Post Your Favorites!
If while driving in the left lane, the car in front of you is preventing you from driving more quickly and is slightly behind the car in the lane to the right but without enough room to pass...pull up next to the driver on their right, giving them the impression that you are trying to cut in to pass. 90% of the time they will speed up to prevent you from cutting them off. Then you can switch back to the left lane and pass the car on the right.
This can either be a life hack or it can hack you life...

Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
Anyone been to the MVCs recently? Here's my plan, does it sound good?
Go to TR MVC, at 7:30, hopefully get a number to come back in the early afternoon to transfer my NY license to NJ. Go to Lakewood MVC and hopefully get a number to come back in late afternoon to take care of all the paperwork for my car (which has transfer plates from NY). Chance of this working properly?

Definitely not higher than the odds of things working properly at the NJMVC on a regualr day.

Re: New Chassidish Community Being Planned in Tampa
In NY, you can barely get a 1BR apartment for 30k/year.
For 30k 2 bedroom not 1
Point still stands.

The point it, if you average all the teachers' housing expenses, you probably won't come up to $30k. You have single teachers, newly married teachers, teachers in rent-controlled or subsidized housing, and Section 8 housing. None of that is available in this community.

People underestimate the amount of tzedaka that is given in NY communities to help keep them afloat. The #1 biggest struggle of any new community will be filling those gaps. Unless the community is being backed by people of means, it will be a huge struggle, and one that will be hard to predict or quantify.

Re: New Chassidish Community Being Planned in Tampa
I really don't know how they ran the numbers but don't forget he is a adding 30K per house for infrastructure, so the buildings should be paid off, and when talking about chasidim, it's not hard at all to reach this number.

You seem very invested in this project, and I wish you much hatzlacha. The one piece of advice I would give you is to get involved. Don't take numbers at face value. Ask exactly how each little thing is being paid for and where every penny is going. It's ok for people to be making money off of this deal, but it is not ok to make half-baked plans and stick people with avoidable or foreseeable expenses after they move. The viability of this community, or any small community, relies on widespread community engagement and involvement. People need to get their hands dirty.

Re: The funny/strange/interesting/random pictures thread
The question I like the most:
Is it harder to write in English then in Yiddish?
I think the question should be the other way around
I still haven't figured out how people read/write Yiddish when there isn't an "official" way to spell words. It's like committing Ebonics (lhavdil) to paper.
