Re: Alternatives to Connectify?
Oh, that's very old! (11 is the month and 15 is 2015) this feature arrived in 1607 (anniversary update). You should update to the latest version (1703, creators update). The easiest way is with the Update Assistant tool from Microsoft
thanks. The update now gives me the w10 native Hotspot

Isn't this a much better choice than that for a few dollars more?

Re: Laptop Deals Master Thread
My wife's MBP of 7 years just died tonight. I'm looking for a basic home laptop than can handle mostly web browsing and streaming but also occasional work from home on adobe creative suite software (photoshop, indesign, etc.). I would consider a Macbook Air but I think a PC with buying another Adobe CS6 still comes out cheaper.
Any good recs? I think she probaly needs an i3 or i5 with 4-8gb ram (not sure). TIA!
How is this?

it's a checkbox on the expanded search box
Oh, I didn't even know that :) I was referring to the REGEXREPLACE formula where you tell it a cell, the regex to look for in there, and the string to replace it with.

Finding all the drivers alone will be a nightmare!
The older the os the bigger the nightmare to find the drivers. Windows xp was an absolute nightmare, windows 7 usually finds most drivers, windows 10 almost always finds all the drivers.

Re: Best way to park a number
I'm going to be out of the country for several months at a time this year. Obviously, I don't want to pay for months I won't be using the phone, but I don't want the hassle of porting myself around when arriving in the States.

I'm part of an AT&T Business Unlimited plan and use an iPhone SE. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

PSA: You Are A Business Owner? Are your Systems Safe? I know this has been posted many times and publicized everywhere still there are people out there who's business is up for a disaster.

A friend of mine who owns a retail store just got hit with the new Nuclear Ransomware they demanded $5000 in bit coin which he paid... Yet he can still not get his system back up.

Do yourself a favor and follow the BBBS rule:

All the best

Re: Desktop Deals Master Thread
better or worse than the DDMS deal?

I was told that I'm much better off with an SSD. Is that correct? Should I wait until a deal on something that has an SSD turns up?

It's dead now anyway but yes if you have the time it would be very worthwhile to wait and see what comes up over the next few weeks

So now I've got some proof positive that the OS is indeed a customized version of Android.

My only problem is that I haven't figured out yet any way to enter developer mode or debug mode or anything of the sort, that will let me install anything, but my hopes are up there that the developer community will figure out something down the road. Adding WhatsApp, Hebrew Input, and some essential jewish software (calendar, various texts, etc.) will really make this phone that much more useful.

To get to the hidden menu that allows developer options and thereby debugging mode among other things dial ##7764726220 and enter 000000 for the service code.
As per attempts to install apps have met with mixed results.

He definitely has better chances with something like this than with that off-brand poorly-rated one, but it also costs a nice amount more.
This one works great - thanks!

Re: Computer Troubleshooting/Help Master Thread
You can't use this one port for both.

What you need to have is an external graphics card (or USB-to-whatever adapter). Something like this (but it will cost you some pretty penny. You can get cheaper like this, but you need to be willing to find out that it will not work properly...)
Or this USB to HDMI Adapter - External Video Card - USB 3.0 - Slim - 1080p - Multi Monitor Adapter ($49.99)

Interesting also that Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Facebook is willing to lose profits in exchange for creating a more truly valuable experience for its users.

I believe they were going to decrease exposure of sponsored posts.

IINM you're under no obligation to activate the Fi.
I'm always wary of refurb phones. Who guarantees it?
No idea. But it's from Amazon and you can put it on here Starwood. Personally I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I'm getting a new PC, just wanted to know if anybody has any tips on how to keep it running fast like when I get it.

Just don't install too many programs?
Get a (free) antivirus/malware software?
It's not a matter of installing "too many" programs.  It's a matter of too many running at same time, or too many running at windows startup.
As for antivirus, I highly recommend Kaspersky Free.

It is a hard judgement, but I would side with the newer G6 Play.
Really? Only reason I can think of to go that way is if you absolutely need the extra screen real estate.

So you dont have to be busy with putting in the RAM afterwards since RAM is kind of complicated to figure out which ones are compatible with each other.

Re: google voice help
I'm on tapatalk... Is that really a thing though?
Oh yah, I get a raise in my salary once I reach 1k likes. Keep them coming.

+1 but likes are always better ;)
 +1 indeed. Not +2 ;)

So it seems like on ios just gv and hangouts are enough. I can call and text. It shows up on caller id as my google voice number
So it seems your ready for the next step, which allows you to use your american phone number you had back in the states on your google voice account? (or unless you don't have a US number active while in israel?)

I try to always bring my T-mobile phone, as I would need it for verification codes or random stuff. A spare phone should I need, and my regular american number so I would verify it on GV and have that number as my outbound caller ID. And would ring when someone called me on it, meaning it would ring on my GV phone number as I set up call forwarding to ring on my Google voice number allowing me to receive all my calls.
With T-mobile I had no problems setting up call forwarding while in IL and with sprint I would have CS set it up for me should I have forgotten to set it up before hand.

Any more Q feel free to ask. And ping my name should you want to direct the Q to me.

Also being that you have a iphone some details might not work the exact same. But I would assume all would or should.
Good night folks. Or good morning for those in the holy land.

Re: Computer Troubleshooting/Help Master Thread
The position is 1 (2 for if there are two number strings in the filename and you want to change the 2nd.)

And the difference is -5353 (since you wanna subtract 5353 from each number.) And handle negative numbers should be checked.

Seems like I got it - thanks!

Re: Excel Help and Problems
Forgot to mention, the XYZ # is in middle of a variable length and variable position of a string. The only absolute to work with is the XYZ #. Have it working now with a FIND XYZ & # from cell reference.

Wouldn't REGEXEXTRACT do it? (I didn't really chap the exact use...maybe it is too late in the day...)
I'm trying to cut off everything after the XYZ # (part of a larger data parsing project).

I'm not so familiar with REGEXEXTRACT. Will take a look.

ETA: REGEXEXTRACT worked perfectly. Thanks

This looks like a good deal. It is an HP i7 3.4 ghz with 500gb hd and 16 of ram for 389. The kicker is the hd display and 1 gb of video ram.
Not a great deal for a 4 year old refurbished laptop.

Re: Best Buget phone
Looking for advice from the knowledgeable DDFers, whats the best budget android phone that can be filtered.

I was looking at the OnePlus range, maybe something like the 6 or 6T (if the upgrade is worth it).

I've heard of the Pocophone by Xiaomi, but as I spoke to TAG, there is no way of filtering Xiaomi phones without locking down half of the phone!

Any sugggestions?
Moto G6
I had the g4 with amazon offers and I feel like it fought with the filter and messed it up. Friends have the g6 without offers and it works great.
