Re: Another mass shooting!!!
1. And that is as effective and fast as an assault rifle?
2. What purpose do they serve? As recently as Nov courts have allowed assault weapons bans. You are again making a straw man argument conflating assault weapons bans with a complete gun ban.
3. need to review that.
4. I am open to banning assault rifles but did not call for it. You are not arguing against the NYT writer now.
1. Yes. (In the context of a killer perpetrating a mass casualty event of his choosing.) I've already brought the example of Virginia Tech - the deadliest school shooting, not committed by terrorists, in history. Handguns.

The vast majority of mass casualty shootings in the US (four deaths or more) are committed using handguns.

2. The basis for allowing a Constitutional right (yes, 2A meets that criteria) isn't if @aygart can figure out the purpose.

@aygart should only be allowed to exercise his 1A right to free speech on DDF to the tune of 300K words a year. If he can't make his point in that amount of words, what's the purpose?

With all due respect, the fact that the only reason you could cudgel up in your brain for wanting to possess an AR is to murder people, speaks volumes as to the level of the debate here. (Hint: Not high)

AR's are extremely common, there are millions in America; if all their owners wanted to murder people we would be awash in deaths.

The sheer insanity of your supposition is matched only by you holding on to it after being challenged.

Finally, I'm not sure what you're referring to in regard to November, but if the ban in question is on aspects of various weapons, while having no effect on deaths (how well did CA's laws work in San Bernardino?), it might well be legal.

However, after Heller, a ban (or defacto ban like D.C. used to have) on any common class of firearm is illegal.

3. Please do so.

4. I'm speaking to you, someone who believes that the millions of AR owners are walking time bombs. I'm speaking to the people in this thread who have called for a total ban on a common class of firearm (AR's). I'm speaking to the person who, in this thread, said he would like a total ban on all firearms but would start with AR's.

I can't hear you for all the rustling.

Re: Another mass shooting!!!
that's exactly the point. Anyone who meets the criteria of what I wrote and also owns 6 guns and assault rifles at age 19, along with his mental-history diagnosis has several red flags. Of course even one gun is too many. Even more so, owning this many guns and assault rifles at this young age without any living parents or adult supervision points to deep mental health issues with his cutting, high school expulsion at age 19, and 39 FBI visits, etc...

What's your point, that there was 100 red flags and not 50?
In case it isn't completely obvious to you by now, the FBI is completely incompetent.

Re: Another mass shooting!!!
I am amazed how certain individuals in this thread had ZERO ideas for solutions. They are basically clueless when it comes to guns and the constitution. They should really just STFU because they are the problem!!!
Blah, blah, blah. As long as it's trying to do something, and it's outlawing some sort of gun, right?

I think, instead, like this wise comment...

...You should think before posting reckless ideas.

Re: Another mass shooting!!!
It is called common sense approach something you cant see. You have ZERO ideas so attack those that do.
I think your so-called common sense ideas are actually ill conceived, ideas that will hurt us.

Just because you shout them while standing on top of the bodies of children, won't give you enough fake moral superiority to bully others into agreeing with you.

You're part of the problem.

If you need to purpose ideas, at least purpose idea that everyone could agree with, and that might actually help.

(Mental health, increasing armed security in schools, etc.)
