Amazon Prime Visa Card For a big Amazon shopper, seems like this card is worth it to get, even with a poor signup bonus ($70). The Amazon Prime Visa gives 5% CB on Amazon (as well as 5%CB at WholeFoods as announced today). Besides for counting against Chase 5/24 and potentially preventing me from gaining other signup bonuses, from a strictly usage point of view, is there a better card to use on Amazon?

Thanks so much!

Re: Personal Tzadaka/Charity Master Thread
Rav Shmuel Brazil's yeshiva, yes the legendary composer. It's a kosher trip. Thanks @Boruch Parnes Parnes for  the donation

I would not be where I am today without R' Brazil. I give as much as I can to his yeshiva and I hope it flourishes, I remember when he left to open it (bittersweet)

Hatzlocha to you and I hope you learn and grow from him as much as possible, I still miss those days.

R' Shmuel was a household name growing up. I would not be where I am today if not for him in a bigger way. My father is a talmud of his from the old school ;)

Re: How much is COVID-19 affecting your life now? How to make a cream cheese and lox sandwich, e.g.
Old way:
Wash hands
Make sandwich
Wash hands
Wash hamotzi
Eat

New way:
1. Wash hands 20 seconds
2. Get out bag of bagels, cream cheese, lox. Open all packaging.
3. Wash hands 20 seconds
4. Take a bagel out of the bag
5. Holding container of cream cheese in left hand, use knife in right hand to get some cream cheese.
6. Smear cream cheese on bagel...what? Are you holding the bagel in place with your left hand that just touched the container of cream cheese?!
7. Throw out bagel.
8. Sanitize container of cream cheese.
9. Wash hands 20 seconds
10. Get a new bagel.
11. Smear cream cheese
12. Put on lox
13. Wash hands
14. Wash hamotzi
15. Eat

Re: When do you think International travel will resume?
For all the sarcastic people out there, seems like Quarantine hit you hard.
I've invested alot in arranging things to be able to take off and backpack around the world with my family.
To clarify, we are backpacking for a few months with a fluid itinerary , which basically means country hopping at our convenience,  so if one had to bet on it , which countries/continent would make the most sense to start with and when?
Im venturing to say July.

I don't want you to think I'm attacking you, because I really don't think you meant this post to be insensitive in any way. I understand that you live in your reality, and I commend you for being in a position to do this with your family.

That being said, take a look at the other threads on this board. People are sitting shiva. People are on ventilators. The tehillim list is huuuge. People's businesses are gutted, no income, struggling to pay their bills and feed their families. Even if yours was a legitimate question, this is not the place nor the time.

And this is the reason for the sarcasm: it's not even a remotely legitimate question. There is no data anywhere that anyone in the world can point to that will give you a hint at a chance of an educated guess. You have a better chance of an answer if you ate tea leaves and read them when they came out the other end.

Again, I have no problem with where you are in life. I even aspire to be there one day myself. However, the entire premise if this question is absurd.

Re: Dating Spots Master Thread
tell us more ;D ;D ;D
basically it’s a good idea if you want to fool around with screen share and check out google maps street view of exotic islands or watch funny clips together, but that’s  assuming she’s down for that  . If she’s feeling awkward then we’re both awkward there’s nothing you can do. I tried playing hangman on whiteboard screen share it was cute but didn’t last.
Basically if there’s a pause in the conversation you can’t really look around at your surroundings and point things out bc she’s not there, so you end up just looking at each other-it’s just really weird.

Re: Nespresso - Master Thread
Is there any where else I can buy pods besides from Nespresso? Do they ever have deals?

There are also a lot of 3rd party pods for the Original Capsules. I have bought pods from Lavazza, Bestpresso, and Cafe Joe over the years. If you get them on sale you can get them for as little as $0.30 per pod.

Trader Joe's also has it's own brand of capsules, I believe it's $5 for a 10-pack.

Finally, both Starbucks and Illy have recently produced their own original line capsules as well - but those tend to be inline pricewise with with Nespresso.

... edit....

I just saw you were asking about a Vertuo, and I believe that Nespresso patented those in a way so that you can't legally make off-brand capsules

All of the above mentioned pods are O-U, with the exception of Cafe Joe which is Badatz (I haven't had starbucks or illy, but I believe that they are O-U as well).

Thanks DDF! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for my beautiful Chitas, I can't wait to learn from it every day! It was so nice of you guys to think of me!

P.S. My older brother @Rafi told me that he was on, like, 100 flights by the time he was my age. Can someone tell my Tatty to fly somewhere with me already?

Re: Guess The Age Of Fellow DDFers
I put you between 21 and 25.
21
Let me explain how I got to my assessment.

I reviewed some of your old posts, and was somewhat confused. The context clues pointed to someone 18-21 (underage rentals, you're in yeshiva, etc.) but the content quality seemed unlikely, as much of the opinions were substantially more mature than that age range. So I took a shot at 21-25.

Yes, take that as a compliment.

Re: Guess The Age Of Fellow DDFers
Looking at posts with info that will give it away ruins the fun. Just guess based off of mental profile you've built reading one's posts.
Any detectives want to guess my age?
The use of the word detective implies that it should be allowed.

Re: Colorado 4 day budget Road Trip Very nice! Can't wait to go back to Colorado!

Good thing you stocked up in Bingo, as you'd have quite a shocker if you'd have shopped locally at East Side Kosher Deli instead; they're ridiculously overpriced. But they actually do make good fresh bagels at a reasonable price.

Overall Experience: One might say we did too much driving, I disagree. Driving was the best part of our trip. One view after the next, it's endless! I now dream of the views every night. Make sure to do the driving during the day.
Ha, that always elicits reaction from me when someone joyfully tells me about their road-trip planning that "no worry, we'll do most of the driving at night" ::) . In these regions the scenery during the driving is way too beautiful to pass up.

Re: Random Posts
How do feel when you order a bagel omelet + hash browns, and they delivered everything but the bagel, you call them, alright we will credit you .70 for the bagel

I feel like no thanks a breakfast without a bagel is not a breakfast

Or when you order falafel + tehina on the side and skip the tehina, you get some dried vegetables keep it to yourself 💀😠😡😧😨😩😬😰😱😦😤😟😞😵😯
.70 or even the entire breakfast won't take you far. If that would happen to Dan on a flight he would manage to get the entire first class ticket refunded + lifetime top tier elite status as compensation. :)

Re: Lakewood covid cases There are some reasons why frum Jews sometimes have a harder time abiding by COVID restrictions than the average non-Jew, and it’s not disregard for others.

These include
— larger family size unit / larger extended family / more involvement with that extended family / eg stronger involvement between grandparents and grandchildren
— less complete trust in science and a belief in G-d/ fate
— less media consumption
— greater level of social interaction with community
— a culture that celebrates life events as a community
— stronger allegiance to president Trump who was a COVID “denier/minimizer”
— a conviction that doing the right thing religiously will protect them from a bad outcome (sometimes misapplied).
— fewer forms of acceptable/permitted entertainment/distraction, that can make the isolation more tolerable

Re: Lakewood covid cases
Still working on firm confirmation. However, I've been continuously hearing people ("on the street") talking about a big spike of stillborns.
Indian chief is asked about the rain season for the coming year. Unsure what to say, he tells his people that there will be an increase in rainfall, which prompts them to begin an extra collection of firewood.

Wishing to see if he was correct, the Indian chief calls the National Weather Service, and he is pleasantly surprised to learn that there is indeed a big hurricane season planned. So he calls back the elders and tells them that his intuition tells him there will be terrible storms, and they begin unprecedented firewood collection efforts.

Still doubting himself, the chief calls the NWS back and is once again assured that the coming year will bring storms that the country has never seen.

“Are you absolutely sure?” he asks.

“One hundred percent,” the agent responds. “The Indians are collecting wood like crazy, and they are never wrong!”

Dude, the people on the street all get their news from DDF.
