My heroes are the People who post pop corn worthy conversations where people fight over nothing for pages and pages until dan gets fed up.
You kept up entertained for weeks on end and for this we are very appreciative. Would not have been the same without you guys.

Downvote. I hope this won’t be the new normal for DDF (even for JS)...

Re: Dating Stories Dropping the girl off at the end of the date, I had a long drive home and didn't want to go off-route to find a bathroom (I'm an expert at easily getting lost).

I smiled and said, "Thank you very much, I had a really good time! Um, is it OK if I use your bathroom?"

Her: You can use the driveway if you want.

Me: Are you serious?

Her: Sure, you don't have to park on the street, you can pull into the driveway!

George Bush was famous for his Bushism and sounding as if he had a Low IQ.
Biden has his gaffes and is clearly slow.

Trump sounds intelligent comparatively ... especially if you listen to actual full length sentences not chunks chopped up in the news

I’ve listened to entire speeches and he sounds like a buffoon

Re: Tischler Made It
Does anyone notice that this cover doesnt have one mention of anything Jewish or frum? Not one.

Does this bother anyone else or is it just me?

I'm no fan of Ami, but last I checked Yeshivos in Israel are Jewish. And usually frum too. Rabbi Shaus Taub is definitely both. So there is something there, albeit nowhere close to what I would expect from a Jewish publication.

Re: Baby Present for Dan: (DAN DO NOT READ THIS THREAD) Is JJ chopped liver? He had three babies. Does a lot of work on this forum, and never gets credit for it. He would be rich if he got a nickel every time a commenter on DDMS wrote "thank you Dan" on posts that are clearly marked "posted by JJ."

I think we should do a joint baby gift collection.

Re: Things to read Shabbos on lockdown
Divrei Torah for Chukas-Balak.

This is the last week that I'll be doing this. When I first started this before pesach in response to this thread, I was shocked by how many people used it, but as the lockdown has eased usage has declined a lot and bh people are getting their Torah for shabbos elsewhere, so I don't think this is necessary anymore.

If you're one of the people that still uses this and you want to continue getting it, you can PM me your email address and I can get you on the list that I get most of these sheets from.

Credit for these sheets goes to an amazing baal chessed/askan in the 5 Towns who sends most of these out each week. Knowing him, I think he'd prefer if I don't write his name here publicly, but if you gained from these sheets the zechusim definitely go to him and his family.

Have a good shabbos.
Thanks for all the effort! It really uplifted my Shabbos each week, and instilled some Torah clarity about these events into my life. May Hashem repay you tenfold!

yes I remember seeing you guys at baggage claim and at hertz.... that's really funny.I guess I owe you an apology! At from now on you know that anything in the PC lot just take it and run - don't look back!
If ever in doubt about a car being “in your class” or you see something you like but want to see if anything better is available further down the aisle/lot, take the keys of the first car with you and lock the doors so nobody else starts loading their stuff and you then need to fight it out.

Re: New Like feature
I find that once in a while I Like a post if someone replied to a post of mine and I want them to know that I read their reply and just don't have anything more to add, even if there's nothing particularly like-worthy about their post. It just avoids a useless "I hear" or "Ok" post.

Does anyone else here do that? Does it make sense?

Re: Heroes Blog Here!
I would like to begin by nominating three heroes who come to mind:

@cgr has turned the unemployment help thread into a full-blown accounting office, answering all sorts of questions day and night for free.
As time passes, I am only getting more and more impressed by the selflessness and dedication of @cgr . She has started numerous threads about all sorts of financial aid for struggling people, aside from her website which contains an encyclopedia of information.

Here are just some of the threads she started over the last four months:
Fee Waivers due to Coronavirus
Coronavirus Stimulus Aid Package
Residential Mortgages
Compassionate Helper Volunteer Program- NY
NY Rent Relief
Heath Insurance Premium Credits
IRS Tax Credits Available for Business (FFCRA and ERTC)
New York Forward Loan Fund
NJ Rent Assistance Program
NJ Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program
Main Street Lending Program
NY Rent Assistance Program
NJ Commercial Rent Relief

But most impressive is how she responds to every question, often for the fifth or sixth time, with endless patients and clarity. So many people are lost when it comes to these matters, and they cannot afford to hire accountants or lawyers, but they are helped through the work of @cgr . Her website has no advertisers, and she doesn't charge a penny for her services here on DDF.

Some people get involved in activism because it brings them attention, but this forum is anonymous. Some get involved because it's easy and exciting, but they get burned out when it drags on too long. It has been four months already, and she doesn't stop answering each question, often doing research in order to do so.

Here's just a simple post from today - the 2,544th post on a thread almost completely moderated by her - that gives a glimpse into the type of work she has done for others.

To the individual who reached out to me with an urgent case- I'm trying to respond but your inbox is full.

I'm jealous of your Olam Habah, @cgr .

There are a lot of times we lein for a week (or more) days in a row - Succos, Pesach, Chanukah. If Rosh Chodesh is Tuesday and Wednesday, we lein 4 days in a row - in what situation would we lain more than 4, but less than 7 days in row?

When Rosh Hashana falls out Thurs & Fri and Tzom Gedaliah is nidche to Sunday. (5 days- Thurs through Mon)

Correct :)

Re: Mdv's Aspen Colorado trip report Another thing I want to point out is that we didn't really see any wildlife which was probably because we were only out during midday , but still surprising especially since there has been less tourists lately due to covid.

Random fact about the St Regis - apparently their coffee condiment kits are made in..... wait for it ......

That's right!! Good old Lakewood new jersey..... you really can't get away !

We packed up that night and the next morning drive back through the gorgeous rockies to denver , returned our car, and had an uneventful flight back to Philly. Southwest again let us bring our car seat on the plane on the emty seat. I found that as long as I was confident about they didn't give me issues... I didn't even have to collapse it until we were actually on the plane- I just told them that it folds up and they had no issues.

That about wraps up this trip report... I hope you enjoyed !

Here's some more drive-lapses and pictures

Re: So How Was Your Shul This Week?
And you think that was because they didn't wear masks in shul? Or maybe that thousands of frum people already had it by purim time and just gave it to everyone. 2 weeks after pesach there wasn't any less risk then now. If closing was a preventative measure, then nothing has changed yet.
Life is about iteration and learning. You seem to lack that understanding and any semblance of nuance or risk tolerance.

Anyone know how to spell the Yiddish name Pessah? I have a relative whose name I thought was Pessiah, but she insists it's Pessah though she has no idea how to spell it.

Name would've originated in Russia, maybe Barditchev.

TIA.

Re: Interesting Articles: COVID-19 Edition
So, here is the flip side from Monsey. I have redacted the names of the chosson and kallah and their families, but I can't believe that anyone would have the audacity to ask people to "respect" the simcha by not wearing a mask

I can't figure out the major anxiety people suffer from seeing other people wearing a mask. I hope they get proper care for these issues.

Re: Interesting Articles: COVID-19 Edition
Because these weddings have 3-400 people. Let's be honest mask isn't really helping in a scenario like that....

But why does it bother them so much that they need to put on the invitation that wearing a mask disrespects their simche?
