Re: How much is COVID-19 affecting your life now? Speaking of demand, It’s easy to see a situation where there is an over supply of kosher meat. I wouldn’t be shocked if there are well over 100,000 less portions of beef and poultry being used each night in the absence of weddings, bar mitzvahs, sheva brachos, parlor meetings, organizational dinners, business meetings, eat in dining, etc. etc.

Some of those people will need to eat anyway, and will choose beef but  likely the vast majority of those portions will go unused

Re: Corona virus and your shul
Rav Shlomo Miller put out a letter that all porch minyanim that do laining or chazzaras hashatz  are a bracha livatala and Rav Felder gave a shiur saying most poskim (gra, chayei Adam, aruch hashulchan)don’t hold it works for tziruf and the Mishna Berura also isnt meikel even in a shas hadechak  only perhaps in a major shas  hadechak, to the point that Rav Felder advises that the chazzan has to make a tnai that it should be tefilas nedava, and there’s no chiyuv for a yachid to join if he davens better alone.

Do R’ SMK and the others agree with this? If so why wasn’t any of this noted on the letter which sounds like it is lechatchila. Also why the big push to instate porch minyanim given these issues?
In case you haven’t noticed, this was never about doing the right thing or what’s lechatchila. Pikuach Nefesh trumps minyan, always and absolutely.

It’s about doing what you want, so they found a heter.

Re: Corona virus and your shul
Stop accusing thousands of yidden of being minyan haters who are people that were lax about minyan before this started so they have no appreciation for the importance of minyan.
FTFY How dare you. I'm makpid on minyan and more makpid on Pikuach Nefesh. Read about the psychos on my block and then shut your mouth.

Re: Corona virus and your shul You are obviously not in BP or Williamsburg @Yehuda57 There is a poloce car stationed outside Satmar on 52nd Street counting how many people are going in and out. I'm jealous of those areas where Jews are keeping the rules. Im saddened that my neighbors and most of Boro Park cannot in one way or another do the right thing. I invite you to come here any day at 9am and 7pm. I wish I was making it up.

Will it work?

In those communities? I'd say for the vast majority.

Lichvod the Wonderful Members of our Far Rockaway and Five Towns Community שיחיו,

We sincerely hope that this letter finds you all managing well under the current difficult circumstances, and we daven continuously that HaKB"H send all Acheinu B'nei Yisroel the refuos, nechamos, and yeshuos for which we all so truly yearn.

There has recently been much discussion regarding the loosening of social distancing restrictions. We would like to specifically address herein the numerous calls and requests that have been presented to all our community Rabbanim regarding outdoor Minyanim.

Many individuals have been asking Rabbanim to demonstrate leadership by issuing clear guidelines for the establishment of safe outdoor Minyanim. We all understand that Tefilla Bi'Tzibbur is a crucial imperative for Klal Yisroel, especially in a time of crisis, and that davening together could provide us the זכויות and the connection that we so desperately need. People are requesting that Rabbanim, in conjunction with medical professionals, create guidelines for safe and legal Minyanim in our neighborhoods, with all participants wearing masks at safe distances, perhaps on separate properties, with safeguards in place to ensure that there is no significant risk.

We, the undersigned Rabbanim and Roshei Yeshivos, after much thought and careful consideration, feel obligated to communicate- in unequivocal terms- our united decision to reinforce our previous mandate, and bid our community against the creation of any Minyanim, as well as to cease unauthorized Minyanim. This includes porches, front-/backyard, Minyanim--with no exceptions whatsoever. We will continue to reassess and reanalyze this decision on a regular and ongoing basis as new developments unfold.

Pikuach Nefesh is the greatest imperative in the Torah, and overrides almost any other Mitzva. Although on an individual level it may be possible to safeguard against risk, it is impossible to allow the establishment of Minyanim across a community without also accepting the unavoidable violations of safety guidelines and inadvertent health risks that will inevitably result (especially with hundreds davening three times a day, every day). כל המקיים נפש אחת מישראל...כאילו קיים עולם מלא-- סנהדרין לז. Easing the prohibition would be, at the very minimum, a Sa'fek Pi'kuach Nefesh that could endanger participants, and could increase the likelihood of illness and loss of life in our community, chalila vi'chas. And this simply cannot be allowed. At this point in time, this overarching principle is docheh the imperatives of Tefilla B'tzibbur, Aveilim reciting Kaddish, and many other Halachos. We call upon each and every member of our community to adhere to the safeguards that are essential for the protection of us all. Let us do our absolute utmost in following the Torah's mandate of ונשמרתם מאד לנפשותיכם.

Our responsibility to be proactive and vigilant against any possibility of health risk and sakanah extends to far more than just Minyanim. It should be obvious that if we have taken this extraordinary step of temporarily being mi'vatel Tefilla B'Tzibbur in order to save lives, we most certainly must be extra cautious when shopping and engaging in any other activity outside the home. We strongly urge our community to not only adhere scrupulously to all laws and protocols regarding social distancing, but also to exhibit extra zehirus and care to stay within your homes, and to limit any outside social interactions- even while wearing masks- to only that which is extremely important, absolutely necessary, and truly unavoidable. This includes avoiding trips into restaurants and other situations of potential exposure that are not truly essential.

We know that current conditions have been extremely difficult. We truly commiserate and are in constant deliberation how best to make the matzav more bearable. Please take comfort in the fact that, B’Ezras Hashem, your admirable efforts and sacrifices have made a dramatic difference: you have saved, and will IY"H continue to save, countless lives.

Yi'yasher Ko'chachem for all your tremendous concern, patience, and understanding.
!חזק חזק ונתחזק

We will get through this crisis together as a unified community, with abundant Siyata Dishmaya each and every day IY"H. Let us continue to give the Ribbono Shel Olam נחת רוח in carrying out Ratzon Hashem at this time, and merit to emerge from this crisis stronger and better than ever before.

With boundless love, profound care and concern, and sincere admiration for this incredible and special community,

Re: Delta to tlv opening May 8
You haven't answered not one of my points, glad you think chaikel and his boys run the TA industry, as i said you wouldn't risk your end dollar.
I did my due diligence. I did write that line in previous posts, but took it out after they pointed out the ARC ruling. Feel free to discuss with them and if the consensus is that the previous line was correct I'd be happy to add it back.

Out of curiosity, what will you tell your clients when LY files for bankruptcy and the credit card says you waited to long to chargeback?
Sorry that you lost your $$$$$, but I didn't believe the ARC was telling the truth so I didn't tell you that you should dispute or I told you not to dispute?

How many people will still use your services when they realize what a liability it is to use a TA that won't fight for them?

Re: Delta to tlv opening May 8
So they own the industry? What's with charges that are processed by my own merchant?? You make 0 sense. Again your website do as you like but if anyone would dear post something that hurts your end $$$ even with all 60 terutzim you wouldn't be to happy!! End of the day people should take achrayus and say the truth not keep running away from the facts.

Sorry, I'm with @Dan on this one.

Dan is not actually a TA - he's a journalist, who just happens to have extensive travel industry knowledge. And journalists go by credible sources. So if Dan has a "credible source" - namely, that ARC publicly announces that they won't hold agencies responsible for unfair ADMs by greedy-pig airlines who cancelled flights - and he goes and publishes a story on that basis, then he is 100% in the right. That's his job!

The fact that a seasoned TA with years of experience just might happen to know that ARC is a bunch of airline-hugging sleazeballs who will not keep their word, doesn't magically make Dan expected to have known that. And especially considering that it's not a guaranteed outcome, but just a pessimistic hunch that you have, it's extremely unfair of you to take out your wrath on an innocent journalist doing his job, especially when he's trying to protect his readers. Who, I might add, greatly outnumber the TAs here... so if he has to choose between protecting his readers or protecting you, then "acharei rabim lehatos." There is a greater to'eles in helping many people recoup their money before an airline goes bankrupt and wipes their liability to the pax and/or it gets too late to file a chargeback, than helping a few agents not lose money.

And yes, I'm a TA myself, and yes, I will probably get hit hard if ARC indeed doesn't keep their word. And yet... if I force myself to look at the situation honestly, and in an unbiased fashion, then I have to admit that Dan acted correctly.
