Re: מי כעמך ישראל - Post your stories here The Bnei Akiva in Israel have a project where each kid gets an older person to call (75+) each day to see how they are doing. They are also asked to speak to the person about life stories and to write it down. After this is all over they will be putting a book out with all the stories. I think this is amazing!

Re: Jokes Master Thread Boy aged 4: "Dad, I've decided to get married."
Dad: "Wonderful! Do you have a girl in mind?"
Boy: "Yes...grandma! She said she loves me, I love her, too...and she's the best cook and storyteller in the whole world!!!"
Dad: "That's nice, but we have a small problem there..."
Boy: "What problem?"
Dad: " She happens to be my mother. How can you marry my mother??"
Boy : Why not?! You married mine!!!"

Re: RIP/BDE Master Thread - COVID-19 related
My shver was niftar motzei Shabbas in NYC. He was ‘lucky’ enough to get a Tahara but we had to bury him al tanai in a temporary grave so we can move him to Israel at a later date. Only option to get to Israel was via a private jet but body could not be escorted by anyone due to the quarantine laws.

I have to say this has been one of the most gut wrenching, heart breaking experiences of my life and watch someone who was a true yoreh shamyim to have had a levya with a few people in the rain at the grave site. Not being able to say Kaddish for him, not have a shiva and give proper respect to him has been truly unbearable.

This is not to mention he was isolated in an icu unit for two weeks by himself on a ventilator and died by himself with his children not being able to goodbye.

I am not someone who would typically share this info but people need to know what we are dealing with here. The pain is too much.

Sorry for your loss. Aveilus is extremely hard. Things like this are just salt in the wounds. May you find nechamos at this difficult time, and may hashem give you the opportunity to give your shver the burial he wanted after this is over.

Re: Corona virus and your shull
When all you hear from someone is continuous criticism of rabbonim and of people davening with a minyan when they should not be one starts to wonder if there is an underlying disdain for these people and not just being so concerned about his fellow jews. Do we have a cat or a housewife here?

Also what I wrote that you quoted has nothing to do with agendas It has entirely to do with what people perceive is going on.

As was mentioned, in meah sheaarim they see this a clash with the Medina

Yerushalayim had many plauges over time as @hvaces42  very well stated, just read legends of Jerusalem or many other such books.

in some circumstances we are actually criticizing people who know better but refuses to listen

In other cases people just simply are not seeing the whole picture this has nothing to do with them It's just the circumstances.. just as the fire burns in them, the fire burns in me

I see the directive by hashem "v'chaim bahem" you need to be alive to do the mitzvahs

It's a mitzvas asei mi'deoraisai to do all one can to stay alive (see rambam regarding one who can save his life but instead insists on dying Al Kiddush hashem)

So that people miss minyan for 6 months and are then zoche to 60 more years of minyan.

Does that make me so terrible?

And to go to minyan, get sick and not be able to eat matza, where's the logic in that?!! It's hepech kol hatorah!

I keep getting criticized by people who claim I feel I'm smarter than rabbanim

Are you smarter than God? The Torah says "vehigadata levincha" How are you going to tell your children the story of yetzias mitzraim while in ICU..

Re: Maimonidies
I don't know about you, but if I don't have to be exposed I don't want too. It's part of my job and I happily do it.
I've been stuck in my basement apartment for the past 2 weeks, but if I had a close relative in the hospital I would go there to be with them / advocate for them in a heartbeat.

and risk getting exposed and then exposing others?
Absolutely. I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Re: Maimonidies
So why is this thread entitled Maimonides, and peddling hearsay about them giving substandard care to jews?

It should be Hospitals - Overwhelmed by Force majeure. Stay the F Home.
If you heard the Voicenote that went around from Hatzolah you will understand what went wrong at Maimonides and what they had to do to get it fixed. They also pretty much agreed to be the last man standing in regards to heroic measures. Committed to every patient getting a vent, regardless of age. Not disconnecting after 'X' days. checking on patients every hour. Relaxed PPE. They were closing doors to rooms and not checking on patients period!!! The Voicenote is from a reliable person with firsthand info for those who will challenge that.
And it was substandard care for all...especially its majority Jewish population.
