Re: COVID-19 consequenses to China If Trump wins 2020 I see a big push to bring manufacturing back home and removal of any tax benefits or serious taxes/tariffs for those who refuse.

The PPE shortage is a DIRECT RESULT of outside manufacturing. We can't help ourselves in an emergency and we ought to be ashamed of that.

Dan's Deals Magazine? I think it's time for a Dan's Deals Magazine. It can start off as a bi-annual, with editions before Pesach and Sukkos, and can evolve into a monthly publication if it picks up.

Dan's Sunday roundups have become very popular, and many of us really enjoy reading them. Add to that a Trip Report or two with full resolution photos, some submitted content from DDFers, some curated DDF content (like, for example, @hvaces42's prison thread, prepared for print) or even one or two whole threads of special interest, and the result is a great magazine with compelling yom tov reading.

An editor should go through the entire magazine and add descriptive bubbles throughout, so that non-DDFers can read and enjoy as well.

Basically, I believe there is enough quality content on DDF and DDMS for a full compilation of Yom Tov reading, and with a little editing it can be enjoyable by the wider public.

Plus - it's a great magazine for ad content, as Dan's Deals has a unique demographic of savvy readers, and it can be a magnet for certain advertisers.

I would love to hear everyone's opinion, but mainly @Dan and @jj1000, because they are the ones who can make it happen (and of course @mom1000, because nothing happens without her blessing).

They drive the niftar half way to NY at 10pm and the niftar is picked up a frum doctor who proceeds to drive to Monroe through the night to ensure kevurah before YT. Mi Ke'amcha Yisrael...

A goy does care. I read just about every post in this sub-forum. Some of the stories just tear me up.

When I read a story about someone taken so young and leaving behind a family with so many children I have no words how that makes me feel. Yes I do cry. I do not see them as Jewish children but as G-d's children who will never see their mother/father on this earth again.

When I read about so many of the elders you respect and cherish taken from you it hurts me deeply.

When I read the story of a non-Jewish family I don't even know losing four of their close family in a few days I have no words to explain how I feel.

Then I see a comment how a goy does not have "out of the ordinary feeling" for others and many members "like" it or +1000 it. Not one comment "Hey that's not really true".

There are tens of millions just like me.

Re: Is your Shul Secretly Open Right Now?
This is not dependent upon DDD; it is much more basic. It is a cha'shash pikuach nefesh, and in certain cities (at least), the rabonim have paskened not to do it.

Those making minyanim are not being frum. They are being porek ol

Re: Corona virus and your shul
Because of @yuneeq I personally influenced the owner of a very large school in Lakewood to shut down 2 full days before the whole of Lakewood followed suit despite very heavy pushback from his staff. There are currently two teachers from the school battling corona, one on a ventilator and one at home, but each of those is a Rav and probably contracted it in that position.

Other than that, the school has largely been spared what most schools in Lakewood are going through as far as staff with corona. Im not saying its everything but the difference between being closed Monday or Wednesday after Purim probably played the role in much more than a handful of deaths in Lakewood thus far.

Of course, on a family level, I have kept my entire family including my semi-elderly in-laws and high-risk parent on their toes a lot earlier and a lot more serious than they would have been if they would have stuck around waiting for Lakewood to wake up.

Its not an exaggeration at all. This forum DID save lives. BH! Thanks @yuneeq for keeping us on our toes!

Agreed... My mother is keh 60 . She was at first beffudled and offended

I was like mom, look, you're 60, my father is 62. (back in the beginning they were saying 65)

But my grandmother lives with them and 90+. I went from rational pleading to morbididity.

I basically said once, fine.. either allow me to order everything online or tell me when bubby levaya is.

I'm not proud. I have to respect my parents... But I couldn't allow that to happen.

It's funny too, like the instacart order I made from Costco, my mother says "can You add two cases of water" So I checked and I was able to add them and then the next day we get two orders delivered basically the exact same order except one had water and one did not from two different drivers ;)

My mom was like oh well we have lots of apples and bananas.

I know I need to ask my parents for mechila and I will. But I don't regret what I did.

I keep saying, it's a once in a hundred years pandemic. All you need to do is be safe for a couple of months if even most likely just a couple weeks...

Hashem said to Adam, wait a couple of hours .. you know what happened in the end?!

Re: Coronavirus Victims Charity Pages
These pages break my heart. But how do you ensure transparency?

Each page is raising 500k. How do these families and trustees ensure the funds are managed and distributed properly?
Your mitzvah is to give. And on a sidenote by each campaign you can see the people who are in charge
+1

Also, I think your due dilligence about where your tzedaka money is going should always correspond with how much you're giving. Don't be that guy who thoroughly examines the meshulach's vaad certificate and then finally approves it and gives him a quarter. If you're giving $5, $10 or $20 to one of these campaigns, then give, and Hashem will recognize your intentions even if one of these 20 campaigns ends up mismanaged.

As with any other time you're handing over money, increase your due diligence as your donation amount increases.

Re: Coronavirus Victims Charity Pages
I will BL"N do this as well. I will use @Iz 's calculations.
I will join @aygart and @Iz in matching
Which means that I am matching their matches too. So if someone donated $10, @aygart and @12HRS add (at least) $20, and I add $30, for a total of $60. We can reach $1000 pretty quickly!
