Re: Flying Penguins: Antarctica via Points
I believe we are all also grossly overlooking a very key part to this trip.

Haha yes, you need to love photography to be great at it. That statement is probably true for anything :).

Re: Top Reasons To Go OTD
First my OP was made tongue in cheek. As far as the rest all that matters is how she is viewed in G-d's eyes.
And God has made it pretty clear what He considers a Jew and what He doesn't

Re: Colin Kaepernick protest against USA
They fought for their country that made a big mistake. Countries make mistakes. We have to admit that to learn from those mistakes. It's unfortunate that soldiers die and get injured for no reason, you're trying too hard to put meaning to meaningless deaths. The soldiers deserve recognition for being willing to give everything to their country despite the results. Lets not rewrite history and claim every soldier saved America.
So how do you decide which deaths have meaning and which ones did not? How do you decide which ones saved America and which ones didn't? Is it based on winning a war? Is it based on if you think the war is just or not? They don't get to make those choices.

No matter the outcome of the war or the politics involved in sending them to war they all have the same meaning.

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve
My 18yo son was declined.
Used 100K income and no  housing payments; he is student.
Initial reason for denial was 5/24, but explained that most of those are AU and he only has 2 of his own cards. The reconsidered, then said credit history is too brief (less than 6 months), esp. given the 10k CL for this card.
Spoke to "customer resolution", who re-evaluated and said same thing.
I asked if he could make the application for CSP but said would need to reapply online, but no guarantee, even though it's lower CL, because the short credit history is a problem.
What's my son's best next move?
1. Walk away?
2. Apply for CSP?
3. Apply for Freedom?

And if best step is to apply, how long does he have so that the credit pulls can be merged? 24hours?

Thanks for any/all advice.
Why is he over 5/24 with AUs but less than 6 months history? Nothing backdated, or they ignored them?

BTW, it's illegal to put down household income for an applicant under 21, if you care.

Re: Silent Killer @hvaces42

If you don't get poetry than just say that, you are sounding really silly to me.

It's a beautiful poem, and yes I love poetry so maybe I'm biased. The beauty is that is is open to interpretation and allows the reader to take it to heart or not depending on how they read it and understand it, it can be much more powerful than a simply stated idea.

Before I give my interpretation I just want to say that I don't understand how you can say words words words when the main call for action that you are suggesting here is education, and how exactly is education done? "Words words words."

Words are one of the most powerful forces in the world, you will never get anywhere without using them, insulting them doesn't sound very smart to me.

Anyway with that said the poem to me is coming from a girl who is living in a similar situation, the author had a tough childhood with no one to look up to. She is an adult now and can do what she wants, many of her friends from similar backgrounds take heroin and claim that it saved them and changed their life from miserable to wonderful. Yet she has held off the easy path and been working hard to avoid it.

Being that she never had a good role model to look up to she and her friends see heroin as a heroine that can take them out of their sad life and make them instantly happy.

After a few friends being killed from heroin she is realizing it's not time to blame the person or say how good a person they were, it's time to realize that heroin is no heroine at all but rather a filthy lying scumbag who just like an abusive husband, promises to give her the world but really all it does it destroy it.

I think for someone who was considering heroin this can be very educational and a good read.

Hope that makes some sense no time to look over what I wrote atm.
