Mincha Reminder & Check In System
We have a minyan mincha in our office complex daily however since we are tight minyan we need to send out a reminder daily and get check-ins to see and notify if there's a minyan Today looking for a simple solution, tried gcal but issue is that need to re-create the event everyday since repeat events only send out the invitation once. Best would be sort of like a text messaging system where everyone gets a text will you participate in mincha Today? and they can reply Y/N if there's 10 Y everyone gets a message mincha confirmed for today.... Re: Test drive Chrysler Pacifica for $50 reward gift card
Click---find a dealer ---enter zip code --chose Chrysler Pacifica once on the dealer's website and browse for a minute and a window will pop up with the $50 offer. I did the test drive today, not sure if it is one per person or household. Does it require a credit pull? March 28, 2019, 05:27:50 AM |

Re: Lakewood Forest Fire
I know absolutely nothing about what this event was supposed to be, but something was missing on the planning side if the reactions of local rabbonim and menahalim weren't considered early in the planning stages.

Mr. Zweeg, I’ve spoken to my supervisor and he informs me that unfortunately, your warranty does not cover this repair. 1:27: What are you talking about? Of course it covers it! That’s specifically why I bought the coverage in the first place! I use the tablet on my desk, I drink five or six cups of coffee a day, so I bought… 1:27: Yes, sir, I understand, sir. But if you read your warranty, you will see that it does not cover opaque liquids. 1:27: WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? 1:28: The LDC, the Liquid Damage Clause, specifically states that it covers only clear liquids, like water, tea, chicken soup… 1:28: CHICKEN SOUP? WHO EATS CHICKEN SOUP AT HIS DESK?? 1:28: I’m sorry, Mr. Zweeg, but there’s nothing I can… 1:28: <SLAM!> 1:30: Hello... 1:30: Hello, I... 1:30: ...and thank you for calling Bellevue Hospital. To continue in English, please press one now. Rocky Zweig has been writing since he was sixteen and was the Editor-in-Chief of the late and decidedly unlamented Modieinu, the mimeographed (remember mimeographs?) newspaper of the Tenth Avenue Pirchei of Boro Park, where he wrote everything from stories to news articles to hashkafa articles to... yes (now it can be told!)...letters to the editor. Rocky was sixteen a very long time ago. He is the proud father of three marginally neurotic children. He has been married three — count ‘em — three times and has finally determined that he’s probably not very good at matrimonial bliss. He lives in his Fortress of Solitude in Flatbush with a small menagerie: Clarice, a European Starling; Rabbi Horatio LeZard, a Bearded Dragon; an aquarium filled with Lake Malawi African Cichlids; and a ten gallon tank that functions as a Home for Unwanted Goldfish, or H.U.G., collected over the years by his grandkids and great nieces and nephews at myriad street fairs and carnivals (rather than face the unpleasant task of flushing these unfortunate piscine creatures when they are eventually, inevitably ignored by their own obnoxious progeny, the parents simply call Uncle Rocky who then feeds them and cares for them until their ultimate natural demise three or four or even ten years down the pike). So apparently Rocky seems to get along better with animals than with his fellow homo sapiens. Or sapienses. Or whatever. Rocky’s column will be appearing every other week in The Jewish Home. Get 2250 wyndham points for less then $5!
I just participated in Wyndhams Doordash promo, you go through your wyndham rewards account to the doordash link sign up and make an order either to a wyndham hotel (which is fine for $5) or just set the "pickup" option, put in promo code WR5, this code will give you $5 off first order + 2000 bonus points in addition to the states card 250 they are offering. The points posted for me within 24 hours! They helped me book a room I needed for sukkos in Jerusalem. There are plenty of kosher restaurants with doordash but also putting that aside for $5 you are getting a great deal just on the points (normally would cost $26 for 2k) also this does not count as purchased points so you can this in addition to the 10k cap they put on purchased/gifted points.

Save on tolls bet. NY and NJ (Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing, or Bayonne
I wanted to let those in the community who travel between NY and NJ (and possibly other routes) know of a very simple opportunity to save money that my friend was kind enough to share with me. If you call or email E-ZPass requesting to add the "PASI" plan to your account and you travel Staten Island-bound 3 times (Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing, or Bayonne Bridge) in any given month, you will only pay 6.25 (instead of 10.50 I believe). Adding the plan to your account costs nothing other than a few minutes. There's no penalty if you don't take three trips; you'll just pay the standard rate. Here's the official description of the plan from the E-ZPass website: Port Authority Staten Island Bridges Plan: Available All Hours The Port Authority NY/NJ Staten Island Bridges Plan (PASI) offers a 58% discount off the cash toll rate. The plan is available to vehicles with non-commercial plates and private E-ZPass accounts at E-ZPassNew York or New Jersey. Enrollment is required. The Plan toll rate is $6.25 per trip (plus $9.50 for each additional axle beyond two axles) at the Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, or Outerbridge Crossing, provided at least three Staten Island-bound trips are made in a single calendar month that are not otherwise discounted by the Carpool or Green Pass Plan. If three trips are not taken, the customer pays the prevailing E-ZPass (peak or off-peak) rate. All E-ZPass tags on the account apply to the three trip minimum requirement. Plan Code: (PASI) E-ZPass can be reached at 1 (800) 333-8655 or customerservice@E-zpassny.com. Enjoy! Sincerely, A fellow Brooklyn-Lakewood traveller June 18, 2019, 05:33:12 PM |

Re: New Coin Deal
I have a piece of advice for those who want to back out now. 1) Do what you want and convince yourself that you are somehow doing the right thing. 2) Do not try to convince everyone else on this forum that you are doing the right thing. 3) If you are trying to convince everyone that what you are doing is ok, you are only going to make yourself look like an idiot. Re: Bonvoy - larger rooms no longer available?
What has worked for me (gold elite) is to call the day of and ask if the larger room (two bedroom suite) is available. Then, book the regular room (one bedroom suite) for the regular points. Then, call back and ask for and upgrade. But, it is annoying when trying to plan a trip in advance, unless you are ready to take the smaller room.

Re: Marriott Certs Sale
For the 7 nights cert, does any one know if it is possible to bring three extra people? Myself and two other people, not including the cert holder. It's possible depending on the max capacity of the room. If it allows 4, you can bring 4 (but you will also pay additional fees for those 2 extra people). If it doesn't allow 4, you can do a cert+cash upgrade to the next size room February 07, 2020, 03:43:47 PM |

Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
The thing that drives me the most nuts, is the lack of enforcement in regards to the illegal parking around yeshiva. Especially the cars that park way too close to the corner. Cops in this town serve one purpose: to respond to accidents. And they are terrible at directing traffic once they do respond.

Every one of the tens of thousands of individuals in Lakewood who found a shoulder to cry on, advice for legal trouble, help for parnassa issues- both with eitzos and with money, solutions to countless Halacha and practical issues that affected the Tzibur, and on and on, should be crying now with the petira of Rav Zeev Rothchild Zecher Tzaddik Livracha. Grief / Aveilus Discussion
I am not sure if this the right forum to post this, or if it will be helpful, or if it's even just a rant. A decade ago, my mother passed away after her fourth battle with cancer. 15 months later, my father passed as well from a heart issue. Right at the end of kaddish for my Mom, I was talking in shul to another Avel about my mom's pending unveiling. An older gentlemen in my shul, a survivor, overheard our conversation and said - "Ich ben M'Kaneh zein" - I'm jealous of you - at least you have a grave to visit! Shiva, Shloshim, and Kaddish helped me through the process. It made me feel proactive in honoring my parents, and helping me heal. As an out-of-towner, minyan was sometimes a struggle, since my options were fewer (Mincha involved driving 20 minutes each way for a minyan). And yet, whatever my struggle, I seems like I was spoiled, that I took this opportunity for granted. I have several friends who unfortunately had protracted shivas due to Yom Tov, (some not even lasting more than an hour), and some of them feel that they missed out on that part of the mourning process. How many people out there are in middle of their year of aveilus, being denied the opportunity to say kaddish for a loved one? How many can't give proper levaya to their loved ones? How many aren't getting the benefit of sitting shiva? Some don't even have the last opportunity to say goodbye. I am not a shrink, I am not educating in counselling in any way. I just want you all to know going through this that: a) this is hard b) hashem will help you get through this c) I am open to talking whether you think it will help or not. (I will do my best to answer PMs if you want to do this privately). I will leave you with one final thought: Years ago I spoke to a psychologist who was helping people with PTSD from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. He pointed out to me that in the text of the Mi-Sheberach, Refuas Hanefesh (healing of the soul) comes before Refuas Hagoof (healing of the body) - showing that Judaism understands and acknowledges that there is a mental and spiritual aspect to healing as well. May all those who need a refuah, be granted a refuas hanefesh and refuas hagoof. April 03, 2020, 01:09:22 PM |

Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
If word went around this barber had AIDS there would be no takers. Why are people being meikal on pikuach nefesh?? I dug out an old machine and gave my kids cuts as best I could. I will go till Lag Ba’omer. If it saves one life it’s worth living with a couple inches extra hair until then. April 03, 2020, 03:42:40 PM |

Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
The Rav I spoke with is a very prominent and Chashuv Rav in Lakewood, whom I have a personal connection with, and who knows my Dr. as well. The fact that he gave you a personal psak for whatever reason Doesn't change anything regarding that every Rav & Dr are publicly unequivocally saying no to go. You don't belong posting anywhere that there are Rabbanim and Doctors saying it's not a problem. The responsibile thing to respond would be that if someone believes they have a unique situation, it's very K'dai to be in touch with your personal Rav & Dr... April 05, 2020, 04:48:36 PM |

Re: Is there any good news in the fight against COVID-19?
Wanted to post a while ago, that the purim exposure was to our advantage, so we got it while the hospitals can still handle us... There's at least 2 other ways to looks at this - -There was no need for us to be pioneers and lose so many of our brethren. If we stayed home from before Purim we would have saved so many. -Hashem has his plans regardless, so both what I'm quoting and the above reason are meaningless. April 05, 2020, 08:45:11 PM |

Re: Good Shabbos!
I'm going offline for the entire yom tov iy"h and בלי נדר. That Includes any web browsing, banking, even email, all will be off. I'll be using my basic phone. Will let you know my experience, and if somebody follows, share your experience as well. May it be a זכות for all חולי ישראל, that are in need of a refuah shleima. Besides for that, gut Yom tov to all, and kosher Passover. Next year in ירושלים עיר הקודש. April 08, 2020, 02:44:09 AM |

Re: Is there any good news in the fight against COVID-19?
I have a friend who (he and his wife/child) didn’t open the door to his apartment once except twice to get the delivered groceries at his door, after wiping down everything with disinfectant, for 3 full weeks. His father-in-law’s family did the same. Then, after approval from their doctor, he went for Yom Tov, for good reason. +1 There are many such cases without many realizing this, people shall not forget Mental Helalth can lead to early death. Everyone shall consult thier doctor and rabbi. I think it's time some people stop blanketing people as reckless or stupid if they do something that seems so to them. April 12, 2020, 10:04:21 PM |
