Re: Re: Lakewood NJ Master Thread
All you guys giving heat, Do you relize the flag was hung in honor of Israeli independents day?

That's basically agreeing with Zionist Ideology (maybe unintentionally) which you may or  may not agree with,
But I'm sure u'll agree that it is not crazy to hold against.

Quote from: yonah
You've got to be flipping kidding me. The next time someone asks me why Moshiach isn't here - I'll print them this article.

Let me quantify two things:
- While I Vehemently disagree with them, I don't think it's unreasonable for some in the frum world to have an issue with the state of Israel (however misguided I think that they are).
- However secular the founders of Medinat Yisroel were, they've allowed for the tremendous growth of torah that now exists, and they built the state with that in mind. For example, we're only arguing about the drafting of yeshiva bochurim because they've been more or less exempt for 70 years

So while I don't agree with those who are anti-Israel, I respect their right to do so, and their right to choose not to shop at a store that supports israel.

Here is what is crazy, and what I feel is true sinas chinam - the KCL's threats to remove the hashgacha because of it.

The kashrus of the food at SSSS didn't change when the flag went up - it's not as if the flag was used as wrapping paper for a crate of bacon that was now being used by sandwiches. It is not as if the flag has special powers that render the mashgiach incapable. It's not as if being a zionist disqualifies the owner from running a kosher establishment - and if it does - the blame should be on the KCL for not having properly vetted the owner before giving him a hashgacha. In fact, if that's the case - i.e. a Tizoni person isn't fit to run a kosher restaurant, and the KCL gave them a hashgacha - then the KCL's vetting process is flawed, and we shouldn't trust ANY establishment that they've given a Hashgacha to, until we verify in beis din that not one of their staff said hallel on Yom Ha'atzmaut! .

I am tired of the political BS that creeps up into kashrus. Kashrus should be about the food, but oftentimes kashrus agencies try to flex their muscles to put pressure on the owners of restaurants. It's not just local vaads, but also large organizations. I'm not sure if any of you remember the Pepsi Scandal in Israel in the early 90's or the 'Pizza Mechitza' in flatbush in the late 80's. Then there was the whole Kinder Egg import thing in Israel a few years ago as well.

and before you go off on me about 'the integrity' of kashrus - think about all of the scandals where people with a so-called good hechsher and reputation were playing games and deceiving their customers?

Sorry for the rant, but I am getting worked up, because this hit a chord.

Re: wesson canola oil 128 oz free on Holy Guacamole.

Alright here we go:

(Remember: pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.)

Stuff available for shipping (or sometimes pickup): WARNING: ONLY SOME OF THE CANDY IN THIS MIX IS KOSHER. OTHERS ARE NOT KOSHER

Stuff seemingly only available for delivery or pickup, but depends on your area: (This is OU-D) (This is OU-D and presumably not Pas Yisroel)

Items that can only be delivered using the Shipt delivery option, these do not show a hechsher on the image, so I don't know if they are certified kosher or not. If someone is in a target, you can check if this item has a hechsher:

Re: wesson canola oil 128 oz free on Kosherfest is here!

For these items, change your default store to Gateway Brooklyn. Once the items are added to your cart, make sure to go through your cart and ensure that all the products are set to "shipping" and NOT to delivery or store pickup. (Target will try by default to put it into the delivery or pickup option)

Also, I believe that these items will not ship outside the NY (or tri-state) area, but you can try:

Remember, go easy on this. And never, ever, ever call or chat.

P.S. the deals from the other posts in this thread will not be able to work with these items, as the SV store must be selected for those deals, whereas Gateway must be selected for these. This will need to be a separate order.

Re: Misc Credit Card Questions
I recently closed my Amex Delta gold card because of the annual fee. Then I realized that I should have downgraded to the free blue version. I called to see if they can reinstate the account, and the rep says that reinstatement is like a new app with a hard credit pull, and will be reported on my credit report as a new account. I'm not sure if I should believe that, and for this price I may as well do a new app with a signup bonus... Anyone have any info / experience with reinstatements from Amex?
PUTPACA, if you get the same thing, HUCA. Reinstatments don't work like that, but this rep may be doing it incorrectly, and may actually just be applying for a card for you.

Is this a misprint: "for a profit of $2.55 per order"?

Exactly. I always wondered when someone will compose a rock'n roll song on last week's Haftora (Shmos) "כי צו לצו צו לצו קו לקו קו לקו זעיר שם זעיר שם"

Re: Amex Offers Discussion Thread I just added this helpful information to the bottom of the Wiki:
For cards not issued by American Express (such as Amex cards issued by Citi, USAA, PenFed, Bank of America, etc.)
Add offers to your card at this site:
You will be prompted for your name, card number and email address.

The offers there are the same for everyone, as they appear before you enter a card number. The best offers that I would like to add (Staples, Lowe's) are currently not appearing there, but who knows what might show up in the future.

Re: Welcome to the Coronavirus Board I would post this in the wiki of each thread in the board, but instead, I'll put it here:

Generally, when I appreciate the idea of a DDF post, I push that small button under the post, aptly titled "like", so that the poster can get some recognition and know that people appreciate his/her contribution. I also use the button when I recognize that the DDFer exerted effort into bringing us the information contained in the post, and as a sign of gratitude, I hit the like button.

On this board, it has been increasingly difficult for me to hit the like button. How can someone like a post of this nature?
I have what to say on this topic as my shver a"h came out of there in a body bag this week, but my shver would have shushed me that the hospital didn't do anything and that's what Hashem did and only him.
My shver was niftar motzei Shabbas in NYC. He was ‘lucky’ enough to get a Tahara but we had to bury him al tanai in a temporary grave so we can move him to Israel at a later date. Only option to get to Israel was via a private jet but body could not be escorted by anyone due to the quarantine laws.

I have to say this has been one of the most gut wrenching, heart breaking experiences of my life and watch someone who was a true yoreh shamyim to have had a levya with a few people in the rain at the grave site. Not being able to say Kaddish for him, not have a shiva and give proper respect to him has been truly unbearable.

This is not to mention he was isolated in an icu unit for two weeks by himself on a ventilator and died by himself with his children not being able to goodbye.

I am not someone who would typically share this info but people need to know what we are dealing with here. The pain is too much.
My shver a"h is on this list. May his soul rest in Gan Eden. I have no doubt that he's there.
I therefore wish to make an open declaration, which I'm sure others will join me in asserting.
On this board, the like button does not connote that the contents of the post is enjoyed. Rather, it has taken on a new meaning:
"I feel for you; I care for you; I hope your pain goes away and only good news should be forthcoming."
I look forward to the day when the like button will retain its literal sense, but until then, know that a push on it means that we are with you, living this nightmare alongside you.

Re: New Chassidish Community Being Planned in Tampa
Please read all posts above.

The development is being built by a non Jewish developers. The goal is only to sell it for heimisha people.

Is that out of the script of the next episode of Verplanck? Built exclusively by non-Jewish developers, sold exclusively to the Heimishe people.

Re: Unemployment Help Just a quick update- don't have time to post now but even beyond the legalities of it being an executive order, it doesn't sound too promising.
The Fed is only funding $300 and it's coming from an existing Disaster Relief Fund. The Order states that the funding is through December 6 or until the fund drops to 25 billion (currently has 70 billion)- whichever comes first. This means that there are 150MM $300 payments available. Now assuming that the latest jobs report is correct and 18MM are unemployed, that gives just 8 weeks of payments to those collecting UI- definitely not til December if numbers hold steady or rise.
