Re: Amex Platinum Master Thread
I see it depends on which insurance. Trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance- yes. Trip delay insurance- yes. Baggage insurance- no
@Dan @jj1000 we need your input here.

Re: United MileagePlus Explorer Card
The personal explorer card gives 40k points for a $2k spend and the business explorer card gives 60k for a $3k spend. The other benefits seem equal. Both have the fee waived for the first year. Assuming you can get to the $3k spend, is there any reason to get the personal over the business?
Yes, if you like your application to get approved  :)

Re: Barclays Arrival Plus World Elite MC Master Thread
PSA: This worked for me, not sure it works every time, but definitely worth a try!

I wanted an option to downgrade my card to the no AF version but getting a downgrade proved virtually impossible after trying numerous times. I cancelled the card a few days before the AF posted, as it wasn't worth it for me.
2 weeks later I saw another few DPs that it is possible to downgrade, so I decided to reopen my card to try my luck again and play the HUCA game. A few days after reopening I received the cardmember agreement for the "new" card. I realized that the AF is stated as $0. I thought it was a mistake but after waiting a few weeks no AF has posted. I asked for a new cardmember agreement and it still said zero.
To my understanding, their system posted it as a brand new card, even though it was just a reopened one. As a brand new card the first year is free.
just make sure it isnt a new card on credit report as well

Re: United MileagePlus Explorer Card
is it accurate that a united explorer card holder gets free bag for himself and one companion but free carry ons for entire party even on basic economy? thats what rep told me but i just want to make sure
yes, this is accurate

https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/help/faq/basic-economy.html#:~:text=Yes%2C%20if%20you%20are%20a,full%2Dsized%20carry%2Don%20bag

"Which qualifying MileagePlus credit cards allow the cardmember to bring a full-sized carry-on bag on board?

if you are a primary cardmember of a qualifying MileagePlus credit card at the time of check-in and you provided your MileagePlus number when purchasing a Basic Economy ticket, you and travel companions on the same reservation will maintain your boarding priority and be allowed to bring a full-sized carry-on bag on board"

Re: Misc Credit Card Questions
Hello.
I am renting a Ford Transit 12/15 passenger van.  Will I be covered under any CC rental coverage?  (Chase Sapphire, Amex Gold, Gold Business?)
If not are there any cards that will cover a larger van?
You can be covered under the American express premium car rental protection (the one you pay extra for)

Re: Have 0% balance transfers offers on existing cards disappeared altogether?
Would love to hear more about your approval.

What's your credit score?
credit age?
do you have a relationship with US BAnk other than credit cards?

Just credit cards with US Bank. Credit score varies between 700s and 800s depending on score model and amount floated on 0% cards at the time. Credit age is healthy, especially when closed cards are calculated in the mix.

But as to the rationale for my approval, I think the card was automatically declined initially due to number of new cards opened recently and then approved when I explained the reason for getting different cards (unique benefits of each) and had application reviewed manually. And I'm guessing US Bank is more conservative with credit lines on cards that have 0% offers.

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve
one year rule is only for new accounts
Covid has kept me out of the loop, so I'm a bit rusty. :(  Thanks for the correction.
