General Discussion / Re: NEW Jewish HealthShare unitedrefuahhs.org

I see a few posts suggesting the idea of combining healthshare membership (such as Refuah or Liberty) with a Catastrophic (ACA) plan. My question is why?

Is it only to cover yourself for medical expenses exceeding $1,000,000 per medical incident, which is what the healthshare limit is (by both Refuah and Liberty)? Or is it something more than just that, that a Catastrophic plan will cover that a healthshare lacks?

Regarding Refuah vs. Liberty, the points I noticed in favor of Liberty is that Liberty pays 100% after the deductible ("unshared") is met whereas Refuah only pays 80%; and that Refuah charges families with more than four children on the plan more whereas Liberty does not; and Liberty's unshared (deductible) amounts are lower than Refuah's.

Regarding the idea of combining a healthShare with a Traditional/Catastrophic insurance, As far as I remember from the time I researched both options is Refuah officially allowing to have another insurance in case of emergency, Vs Liberty told me that if I'll have another insurance I'll have to bill that insurance first.

We had the privilege to be July 4 on the Virgin Atlantic flight that had an emergency landing in Boston
https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/5/20682879/virgin-atlantic-flight-battery-pack-charger-fire-boston-new-york-london

As I was there with little kids we choose to stay there over Shabbos (instead of flying back to NY Friday) and got a flight Sunday morning BOS-LHR (Missing part of a Simcha in LON), besides for the Hotel/Food/Transportation costs, can I hope for any additional Compensation?

+1. The Rabbi didn't come up with the idea.

Perhaps someone with more extensive Kabbalastic knowledge can back me up, but I believe the (in overly simplified terms) idea is that all of Creation (including but not limited to sexuality) breaks down into the original duplicity of the Male/Female dynamic.

One is an expanding force and the other is a containing force. I think water/cup can illustrate the idea pretty well. At the fusion of these opposite forces is where creation happens.

NYC to TLV 'economy' for Sukkas What's the best way to book with AMEX membership rewards?

It's an expensive season so points transfer is probably cheaper than using the 35% points back, Correct?

(Is there any special thread for Sukkas-In-Israel questions?)

Anybody?

The last few month they wrote in the emails that the shared total was much less than the eligible bills they received.

But in the latest email there's a new structure, sounds as they're paying the rest in the next months.
CORRECTION: Liberty told me now that everything gets paid at the end, lately they just can't cover themselves in the same month, but then they pay it in the next months.

What do you mean by "Liberty is not covered lately fully"?

Seems to be a lot more expensive than liberty. Though I guess you will need significantly higher rates to carry a pool consisting mainly of large families with frequent pregnancies who run to the doctor for every sniffle.
Liberty will have to charge more soon as they can't cover themselves right now.

Also, at United Refuah members will still pay 20% of the first few thousand dollars, to make people think twice before running to the doctor.

And lastly, they told me they're connecting with a large 24/7 Tele Doctor Network, to help people get medical care for much cheaper, when possible.

As a Liberty HealthShare member I really hope this one should work out, they hired a former Liberty manager to run it, and they've created a different structure that'll hopefully cover itself, (Liberty is not covered lately fully).

What I mostly love about it is that they allow to have another regular insurance and they'll share in with the deductible, so people can buy an insurance with a large deductible or a catastrophic insurance to be safe in case they can't pay.
