Ate at Fuego tonight. Service was excellent, and the restaurant had great vibes.

Appetizers:
Pulled brisket flatbread: good flavors, right amount of spice, but the meat itself was really dry. The bread itself is delicious. 6.5/10
Smoked flatbread: significantly better than the pulled brisket one. Nothing bad to say about this one. 9/10
Smoked sausage baked beans: not really sure how this costs $19 - it's basically a small portion of soup with some store-bought chips and guac on the side. 4/10.

Mains:
Pulled beef burger: huge burger; the person who ordered couldn't finish it. The fries are excellent. 8/10
Flatiron steak: decent size steak. Prepared very well. 8/10
Fuego salad: pretty basic, but good dressing. Not sure why this was ordered. 5/10.

Drinks:
Kabo: Really delicious. If you can swallow paying $15 for a drink, this one is the one to get. 8/10

Dessert:
S'mores: Honestly this was a big disappointment... it's just average pareve ice cream with graham cracker powder, chocolate sauce, and store-bought mini marshmallows. Didn't even seem like the fudge was heated up. Basically a $12 scoop of ice cream. 4/10

Went to Backyard BBQ Tonight - overall a great experience.

Apps:
BBQ Sundae - best dish of the night. Decent portion of shredded BBQ beef on top of slaw and baked beans, topped with crispy onions.
Baked beans - just average

Mains:
Burnt ends - generous portion. Some pieces were pretty dry unfortunately.
Brisket - portion was only 3 slices, which was less than expected, but it was good and still filling.
BBQ beef sandwich - the structural integrity of the sandwich left much to be desired, but otherwise a great sandwich

Dessert:
Chocolate chip cookie - served hot in a skillet with ice cream. Mixed reviews from the table.
Pecan pie - really good.

We also went to 17 last night... not the best experience. The pastas and the strawberry walnut salad were pretty good, but pizza was basically inedible. Service could be improved a lot.

Were you the guy with the Kippa I saw on the elevator on Sunday...I was dead tired after a day in San Blas, wearing a tichel and with my daughter? If it wasn’t you, there is probably a 3rd DDFer here 

I used to say hi and chat with frum people I saw on vacation and then I realized only Denver people do that (we get excited when we see other frum people...lol) and NYers think I’m psycho so I stopped. 

Lol, we just arrived today, so that wasn't me. And 2/3 of us are non-NYers, so we'd definitely be friendly   

I'm gonna PM you; we're on the hunt for a good day trip for Thursday.

My apologies for not answering, this is my first login since Pesach (don't ask...lol).  I'm actually at the Sortis right now and I'd totally recommend it.  A month ago they moved Kava out of the hotel but it is just two blocks over.  Moma and Lula Darna are both just one block over (and I'm going to try to check out Aria as well).  I'm gonna try to work on continuing my Panama TR but basically your answer depends what is important to you for hotels.  I stayed at the Hilton, right next to Le Meridian last time and I do miss the view but the pool at Sortis is awesome (again, I'll try to upload some pics for you) and having so many restaurants within just a couple blocks is really just so amazing.  The Sortis is NOT in the eruv but since your kids are older it might not be an issue for you.  Feel free to PM and although I didn't stay at the Le Meridian, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.  It might be a moot point anyway as I don't think its certain that week certs are going to be usable at SPG hotels but even if that isn't the case I honestly can't think of any kind of comparable, amazing use of the basic resort certificate in the US.  It's a stunning high end resort with towel and drink service at the pool, right next to restaurants and you will be very happy if you come here.

Took your advice from upthread and I'm actually at the Sortis right now, too! (using a 5-night cert) It's a pretty nice so far.

Planning on spending 5 days in PC followed by 4 days in Boquete and 7 days in Costa Rica... do I need to bring food from the US for the Boquete/CR portion of the trip, or will I find everything I could need in PC? Any recs for where to pick up provisions in PC for the rest of the trip?

Planning a trip to Panama and CR in the summer, and for the CR portion, I'll be flying into and out of SJO. Landing in SJO Thursday night, so will spend Shabbos there, but then I've got Sunday-Wednesday evening to go to a different region. Any suggestions for where to go for 3.5 days of fun/adventurous activities? I was thinking Arenal, but open to other ideas.

I have searched starwood, IHG and marriott and I am giving up using free night certificate not realistic for hotels by the ocean.  willing to pay with points/cash

I am trying to find a hotel somewhere between LA and SD with spectacular ocean views and cliffs etc... somewhat near a minyan(willing to drive up to 25 min)  Any suggestions, recommendations?? willing to spend up to $300

I'm about to stay at the Ritz Laguna Niguel later this week on a free night ($700+ redemption value not bad  )... looks like a spectacular property

I tried to get fried onions but he said his vegetables hadn't arrived - all he had was garlic and olives. Then at the end of the phone call he said "wait! I just got two onions!" but I just told him to give me the regular.
