Has anyone done a return protection claim with CSR recently and not had to ship back the item?

General Discussion / Re: investments for children
« on: December 05, 2019, 09:05:55 AM »
I always wanted to put away some money for my children, as soon as they were born. Either monthly or yearly,  but for some reason I never got around to it. Now that my oldest is almost 10, I think I better start. I donít know anything about stocks or mutual funds or anything of the sort, and I canít imagine putting away for than a few hundred dollars a year per kid. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I wasting my time if I just deposit it in a bank account for them? It prob wonít grow much
Open a free Fidelity, Schwab etc. account. Put it into the SPY. Let it ride for as long as possible.

That the number is high? If the cost of the school per child is 20k and you are only paying 16k because of government funding then you are getting a great value possibly because of the Agudah.
Who said its supposed to be $20,000

Is 16000 supposed to be high or low and on what basis are you saying this?
To me its high since I always hear how they help with my tuition. And on what basis am I saying what?

Logically, and based on some quick research I'd guess cost for Metlife is $5-$10/seat * 80,000 seats = i.e. between $400,000-$800,000. There is probably not a lot of competition for an open stadium on a winter day.

In terms of revenue, If you assume average seat price  at the siyum is $75 * 80,000 = $6 million in revenue, so they should walk away with a nice profit, even after heavy marketing.

It's hard to find a better cause. They do what no one can do in Washington DC, Albany etc, and if you wanted to try to evaluate that in dollar terms, I'd guess they save the broader community and especially schools at least many tens of millions of dollars a year.

Yes, the Agudah does so much for schools that I still pay $16,000 for tuition in the Five towns. And when Yeshivas in Flatbush get money for PreK they still charge full tuition to parents. I would love to see a list of actual accomplishments of the Aguda.

Recently bought an expensive pair of shoes. I wore them a bit around the house and the felt fine. After a week of normal wear outside I found them to be uncomfortable and got blisters. Store wont take them back. Do you think Amex will cover?

Deals/Deal Requests / Re: New Coin Deal
« on: September 16, 2019, 09:05:45 AM »
I'd appreciate if other DDF members supply me with support here.
1. I'm getting tons of this coin from others.  Did ANYONE else have a cancelled order that the Mint explained as someone called to cancel?
2. Other deals... there were dozens (literally), that have fallen in price. Did I ever cancel anyones order or ask to cancel due to anything other than a massive delay in an order processing?

I have dealt with PFS a handful of times. Professional and honest. If you are going to make an accusation like that on a public forum you better have the proof to back it up. Not cool.

On The Road / Re: Silvercar Master Thread

Not sure this has been discussed but Silvercar now allows you to rent at one airport and return to another with a $50 fee. This works for the A4 and the Q5 only.

While I love the idea, I think it is a long term mistake. Netanyahu needs to be careful in case the Dems win 2020 and overtake the Senate. You dont want to alienate the WH

Since iTunes is constantly available @ 15-20% off, this is a terrible value even for people selling @ 1.25.
Funny how when I posted I thought I might get slammed. While yes, Costco and others sell them at a discount, there are people that might prefer using existing points to Cash.

Credit Cards / Amex MR- Selling $50 Itunes GC Discounted
« on: August 05, 2019, 09:08:27 AM »
Normally the worst of values, Amex is selling $50 iTunes GC for 4117 MR points. While Dan and others might value them at more, the selling value is around 1.25 each. If someone uses iTunes GC a lot,  value is pretty good here (IMO)
