Up In The Air / Re: Elal airlines
« on: Yesterday at 04:20:10 PM »
On Jul 11, there's a 747 on schedule to JFK and no scheduled flight to return? Anyone have a clue? Are they retiring the plane in the US?

2
Anyone know what's their cancelation policy on flights?
And if charge is done directly from the airline (to qualify for 3x/5x Amex airfare)?

3
Was wondering the same. Is there any catch here? Why isn't this on DDMS?

4
Who's talking about HC with LY?

There are HC opportunities for every one of the direct flights to TLV!

5
Give me a break. These are so famous they might have been posted on DDMS advising everyone that luggage comes out on first port of US entry.
On UA, and DL less often. There are barely any significant HC with LY AFAIK

Any flight cancelation.
They cant do it on phone,  I always put in the flight and either have the PAX go a bit early and gets its ticketed at their ticketing desk, or contact their airport office on phone- but sometimes hard to get thru to them
All of which is pretty ridiculous.
I've had PS rebook passengers on LY on the phone (like all other airlines do). I've also had that they would hold up the KBP - TLV flight when the flight from JFK was delayed if a significant percentage of the flight was continuing to TLV. SU refused to hold a flight for a few minutes and left many passengers stranded in Moscow Purim night. On top of that they denied ANY compensation, blatantly lying about bad weather in Moscow. (They were delayed 1.5 hours in NY, and according to Accuweather history, there was 0.2in of snow on that date in Moscow (and no snow before or after either).
But again, none of these are amazing....

1:50pm flight to EWR this Thursday delayed to 5:35pm causing the return scheduled for 9pm to be delayed to 11:55pm (landing in IL 5:20pm Fri)
Anyone flying or know someone flying on the flight should call El Al or their travel agent to get rebooked free of charge, unless they don't mind spending Shabbos in Athens....
1:30pm and 6pm is now completely booked (in Y). 10:30am still has quite a bit of space.

Aeroflot is one of the hardest airlines to deal with in case of IROPS. Both getting rebooked, and getting compensation.

Up In The Air / Re: United's 777-300ER's HORRENDOUS economy seats!

The 767 is best with 33-34" in economy, wide non-slimline seats, and 2-4-2 config. which is great if you're a couple.  I don't care about IFE so overheads don't bother me.

I'll be sad to see them go actually :-)

767 is 2-3-2 on LY

EWR to TLV on UA one-way
AC 40k?

(no SPG-only partners like A3 or LH)

So... this is El Alís second (recent) diversion to a lesser-known Canadian airport. I guess itís true what they say, after all: Whatís good for the Goose [Bay] is good for...  :D

Shhh. The LY lovers here will stone you...
Many of them here won't love LY anymore if their comms are cut....
Besides, LY under this new moron has little to do with the trying-to-improve El Al of the past few years. The name El Al is pretty much the only thing that's left of the airline. Won't be surprised to see him cancel some of the Dreamliner orders to cut costs....

looks like they want to make sure that there is no airline left by the time they stop paying commission
