I am far from an expert. I deal in PM not these coins. AFAIK there is no second seal. I have not opened one of these but have opened others and there was no seal.To someone that trusts you did not have it graded.

What is PM?
So if I'm keeping it, would you recommend just keep it sealed forever, or pay the $150 or so fee to have it graded?

So whether or not I want to grade it, and assuming it's a long term hold, keep it in the sealed box?
I want to know if I got a hand signed one...

@CountValentine you seem to be the resident expert.  Can I open the USPS box - is there another internal seal that will still make this be a "sealed" coin?  Not selling the coin just curious to see it...  May want to grade it, not sure on that yet.

I’m still buying as well, now paying $65 for $100 credit or $100 for $150 credit.

So give him the $200+cost?

Assuming hes not a coin collector, that should be sufficient for him. I'm assuming he has no idea how much the FMV is now.

He literally knows the entire red coin book by heart, and spends all of his (granted, minimal) income on coins...

Meh. Looking at it as a $1000 opportunity cost (if this is what reputable dealers are now paying) is more accurate than a $70 investment IMHO.

It’s not dissimilar to other people’s commitment sagas, I bought the coin under the premise that I’d be giving up maybe $200 profit to get him a cool coin, my pleasure; never thought it would go up in value like it has. I told my son I had ordered it for him, now I should say never mind you can’t have it?  If I didn’t have enough money to pay for gas and groceries, I probably would. But I am not in that position right now.

Why ? What’s so special about Mr. Ryder ?

Nothing, except that this coin is 1 out of 100 now instead of 1 of 30,000.

It is just me but for the small investment I would let him keep it.

Yeah, I say it's a $70 gift, he says no it's a $1000 gift.... I already said he can keep it, so I'm going to keep my word.  But it's an interesting question.

Curious what the more seasoned collectors on this forum think (since i'm not poking around on other forums) - is this coin going to decline in value because what's driving it now is hype, or should it more or less be stable at the prices people are now buying it?

DH does NOT think we should be allowing our son to keep this coin!!!

100 of them are signed by hand, doesn't say that all of them are signed, just says they come with a numbered certificate of authenticity.  That's my read, at least.

Can anybody verify this signed certificate rumor? DP/Link?

In an email from the mint received prior to release:

Mark November 14 on your calendar! You won’t want to miss the opportunity to own the 2019 United States Mint American Eagle One Ounce Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin. Minted in elegant 99.9 percent silver, this coin features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty on the obverse showcased by its distinctive finish. An enhanced reverse proof coin has the same frosted background as a standard reverse proof but features multiple polished and frosted finishes assigned to different isolated design elements, making the designs more elegant and compelling. The result is a gorgeous innovation on the classic American Eagle coin. For the first time, each coin is also packaged with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Keep your eye on this one because Director Ryder has signed the first 100 numbered Certificates of Authenticity which will be randomly mixed into our inventory!

I have 8 coins to be shipped with budget shipping. Got confirmation emails on all of them with tracking numbers (it comes from MS) between Friday and Sunday. Only 2 are moving, one started moving today and one shipped Friday. Anybody else in the same boat?

8 coins!
Did you order them all yourself, or had others doing some of the work for you?

Are you a collector or you just think might as well hold for investment?

The things we do for our kids :)
I bought it for my son, who collects on a small scale but has the entire coin book memorized.
I'm trying not to look at it as having "lost" $500, it was just a $70 expense.

Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone actually gotten a signed certificate?

How many people on this forum actually opened their coin box?  I'm guessing practically none...
