COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: Date of second dose
« on: January 05, 2021, 11:08:31 AM »
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/info-by-product/clinical-considerations.html

Per CDC:
Second doses administered within a grace period of ≤4 days from the recommended date for the second dose are considered valid; however, doses administered earlier do not need to be repeated. The second dose should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible. However, there is no maximum interval between the first and second dose for either vaccine.

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: Will you get the COVID vaccine?
« on: December 19, 2020, 06:22:32 PM »
This is just anecdotal, but I know a lot of people in the hospital I'm in seemed hesitant about getting the vaccine when it was hypothetical. Then when they actually offered it to us, almost everyone I know jumped at the chance, to the extant that people were renting cars to go to satellite hospitals over an hour away that still had supply.

I think when people are actually offered an opportunity to take it, its going to be hard to actually turn that down.

Did they give a card or “passport” saying that you got the shot?

They didnt give me a standardized vaccine card, like I had gotten with the Yellow Fever vaccine a few years ago. It was just a note on hospital letterhead saying that I had gotten a vaccine.

Yes, at an academic medical center. Our hospital tiered us - The first waves went to ED/COVID unit/staff with risk factors, and then everyone else was randomized into subsequent waves. It was all opt in, and they said no staff would be required to get it.

Testing positive means you had the virus at one point.

Thats not what testing postive means at all. The test uses rt-pcr to amplify the actual RNA of the virus. The virus doesn't embed itself into host DNA, and doesnt just float around the body. If you dont have a viral load, a rt-pcr test shouldn't pick it up later

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infatuation

I never really understood this perpetuated belief. Do people really believe that couples that date for months-years, are getting married because they're infatuated, vs a couple thats spent minimal time co-mingling socially in their life, and are married after <10 dates?

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: Calculating The Actual Fatality Rate

Much of his hypothesis is based on this which is very much the opposite of what many here have been saying. The question among those who know these things is whether it is LOWER than Cuomo's numbers

His ongoing hypothesis was that we were catching 1/10, 1/20 with the rt-pcr diagnostic test...so if you extrapolate the current confirmed positive rate out by 10-20x, it would be in line with what cuomo is saying the seroprevalence is showing
