General Discussion / Re: Optimum internet

Seems like students can get it free if you don't have internet.
 Cool to know.

How are they verifying eligibility?

there was a conference but they debated if they should release a letter or spread the word mouth to mouth
R' malkiel wants his shtender back
Interesting seems like word of mouth is the way theyre going, much smarter imo. I'm going to guess that once Murphy's guidelines become clear over the next couple days we'll see a letter

10 of these at Restaurant Depot. Crazy how much they're going for on ebay...
Got it. The Ammex brand that OP mentioned (officially medical grade) were available 1000xl for $42. The "gray" wholesale market is about $.15 a glove right now

I'm starting to hear rumors of Lakewood shuls quietly opening for  Minyanim of Exactly 10 people.

Just picked up a case of 1000 (10x 100) for $27 (all sizes - some were low stock)
Thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure what you got for a $27 but thank you..

Rav Shternbuch said to do this. He seems to be a daas yochid about this.
Did he give a reason? I guess there's a "Heter" that the minhag is to give a sumah, although only shelo l'vaysho which doesn't apply here..

Can he read the words?
More then 6 feet away, doubtful. (This minyan was doing this even when people where hundreds of feet from the Seder Torah)

Sorry if this was asked elsewhere.

Is there any maalah in giving out aliyos to someone who is socially distanced from the Torah over just having the Baal koreh take them all? The other way makes much more sense...

There also a letter floating around signed by a ton of Drs in the community saying that the antibody tests are extremely inaccurate, giving them out is a disservice people will think, if they supposedly had it they can relax restrictions which would be extremely dangerous

I was taking a walk today and saw multiple Minyanim (kinda felt weird answering Amen Yehi Shmei Rabbah for the first time in 3 weeks).. This particular one everyone was more then 6 feet apart on their porches and a chashuv Rav was participating. Others I passed were not being careful, DW asked me if we are allowed to answer.. and wanted to rush past the area to not feel uncomfortable about actually answering or not..

:D
That is better than even meluban and according to many can be equivalent to a kli rishon depending on the reasoning for iruy to be below kli rishon. I do that too with some additional personal "kuntzim".
Can you elaborate on your "kuntzim"..?

The Rav I spoke with is a very prominent and Chashuv Rav in Lakewood, whom I have a personal connection with, and who knows my Dr. as well.
He asked me not to spread his name (Seemingly so as not to publicly contradict the BMG Poskim)

I in no way mean to give anyone advice, I myself have not made up my mind yet. I believe everyone should consult with their own physician and Rav. I was merely responding to a few posters that mentioned unequivocally that every single Rav and Dr. in town are saying not to go.

The fact that he gave you a personal psak for whatever reason Doesn't change anything regarding that every Rav & Dr are publicly unequivocally saying no to go. You don't belong posting anywhere that there are Rabbanim and Doctors saying it's not a problem.
The responsibile thing to respond would be that if someone believes they have a unique situation, it's very K'dai to be in touch with your personal Rav & Dr...

Lakewood is politics. I know a few prominent rabbanim that allow going away to parents/in-laws.
Signed by 4 Doctors, I'm sure you are aware there are many other (Very Prominent) Doctors in town, one of whom told me it is completely ok for me to go to my Parents for YT.
I challenge you to post their names so we can verify.
This is a matter of life and death.
There is no reason they would tell you and not us.
+1000000

There are definitely unique situations and it's possible that a Rav & Dr would allow it for specific individuals. But it's not what I'm hearing from anyone. Could be @elya is such..
