I have 2 booked saver economy awards using 45K Aeroplan miles on a United flight from Auckland-NYC.
Is it worth re-booking using Chase points through United to try to get 2 seats next to each other in  business class. There are currently 29/60 seats available for a mid-January flight, but only 4 pairs of seats together. I'd be cancelling the original flights for a $200 fee and the 90K Aeroplan points would be refunded.

Is there a high success rate? I don't want it to fall through and then have points stuck in United and Aeroplan after transferring them from Chase and Amex.

Do I have to cancel on Aeroplan before booking through United to avoid having 2 tickets in our names?

One way/Round trip: One Way
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Up to 2 stops (28 hours max)
From: AKL
Departure dates: Jan 31, 2018
Return airports:
Return dates:
Class: Business/first
Seats: 2
Alliance/Airline: United flight through Aeroplan

The redemption on Aeroplan is 80K points for mixed cabin with the only first class leg in AKL-SFO-CVG-NYC being CVG-NYC. I know with United you can call and have them voluntary upgrade you to first or in this case business assuming there's availability for no additional points. Does anyone know if this works if booking through Aeroplan? Who would I call, United or Aeroplan to make the change?

Round trip
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Max 1
From: NYC
Departure dates: Dec 28,29,31, Jan 1 2017
Return dates: Jan 5,6,7,8 2017 (1 week trip)
Class: Economy
Seats: 2
Points: I have enough UR and MR.

Called several times and they still said I had to pay the difference in price. Any specific things I should say?

I have a  flight scheduled to leave at 730pm this Thursday night the (Nov 22) however I'd like to switch my flight to Wednesday Nov 21st, the day before, without a fee. With the way EL AL is changing flights right now is there any way to do this without incurring a penalty from EL AL?

My car was totaled this week and I'm looking for a new car to lease, preferably a Toyota Camry or something similar. Does anyone know of any good deals going on now?

Credit Cards / 1st Credit card with best airline miles program
« on: November 25, 2010, 10:33:54 PM »
What is the best airline miles credit card to apply to? American Airlines, Starwood Amex, Chase Saphire, or just applying to an expedia mastercard or orbitz card where I think I can use it on any airline. If anyone has any other ones in mind, please let me know. Thanks
