Up In The Air / Aegean Air award ticket booking
« on: November 14, 2017, 11:28:55 PM »
I understand that you can book reward tickets on United through Aegean Air with Aegean miles. I'm hoping to book SFO>TLV that way, as they call for less miles than united.

However, when I try to search for award ticket availability on the Aegean website, I'm met with the message that I don't have enough miles. That's true, I don't want to transfer the miles to Aegean until I know they have the flight I need for the amount of miles I want. How can you see Partner reward ticket availability/amounts w/Aegan without having to transfer miles over first?

Izzy's has cholov yisrael pizza. But besides that, nothing else (that I know of) is cholov yisrael.  I understand they have a special oven for the cholov yisrael pizza, but you should confirm with them as sometimes pizza runs out for lunch. Cal ave gets really busy at lunch time on weekdays. They have good bagels and tuna, egg salad, etc, many pareve options too though...

Thank you! I did read the thread you speak of (I think we are talking about the same one) but it is from a little while back and it does not mention the 1% fee that I see other places maybe that is indeed covered by CapitalOne?

Anyhow, I'll check out Schwab too...thanks again!

I'm traveling in Israel and Europe soon. Which would be the best bank to have a checking account with which would provide no foreign transaction surcharges/fees on atm withdrawals?

I did see some chatter here in these forums regarding Capitalone 360 - they appear to have no transaction fee on withdrawals from foreign atms. That does check out as the case when I call their customer service - But I have seen reports online that they issue a Mastercard atm card which charges a 1% fee on the withdrawal. To people who have one, is this the case? Does Capitalone cover that fee?

Any other suggestions on truly fee free checking accounts which require NO minimum balance?

Probably asking a lot here, but if I can get any info, it's probably goign to come from here :-) Thank you.

Ok - lastly, anyone know if you can use your same phone number for that travel time without it canceling your domestic/messing up your verizon plan?

Ok so I did search the forums for answers to my questions, but to no avail :-(

We are traveling to Israel and Switzerland for three weeks this summer. We (my husband and I) have Verizon wireless domestic plans. I have the Pixel, he has an Android. I understand I am able to use my Pixel for Google fi (altho I bought it from Verizon, so not sure?? can I? ), and this looks like a much cheaper option for me then Verizon's international plan. Question: Can I use my pixel for the three weeks to just use google fi abroad, without cancelling my verizon domestic plan? any tips on how this works?

I have dual citizenship (Israeli + American passport). When I enter Israel, I enter on my Israeli passport. As an Israeli citizen, I must pay an additional VAT tax on my hotel and rental car (no small thing, I think it's about 18% extra). If I could enter on my American passport, I would not have to pay it. And yes, last time I tried offering the rental car company my American passport, but they firmly told me they must use the passport with which I entered the country.

My specific question: Has anyone with dual citizenship every managed to enter on their American passport? I have a feeling it wouldn't work, but thought to ask.

Trip Reports / Beijing over Shabbat
« on: December 16, 2016, 11:27:18 AM »
My husband is going to be in Beijing for a biz trip over Shabbat. Does anyone know of any semi decent hotels near Chabad there that have regular keys so as to avoid the electronic key card issue?

Thank you :-)

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Layover at CDG
« on: May 25, 2016, 09:01:43 PM »

Our family will be stuck at CDG airport in Paris for a 6 hour 45 minute layover next week. Anyone know if there is kosher food anywhere to be found there? A long shot, I'm guessing.  :( :P
