On The Road / Re: Car Rental Corporate Codes Roundup
« on: November 10, 2019, 07:49:52 AM »
Would any of the codes mentioned above work for a UK resident?

Eg the TAL code... price is far cheaper than anything else Iíve seen including other quotes on here.

If the code included additional drivers but the renter is a US citizen would a UK resident be covered to drive?

Only other prices that come close are a few on Turo.

Any recommendations of local make-up ladies / salons?

Thanks!

Did anyone buy kosher doughnuts from Morrisons in Stamford Hill?? Were they good?
My brother did and apparently yes, but you cant go too wrong for 50p a box.

There were queues waiting for them as they were selling fresh.

On The Road / One Way Car Rental Fees
« on: December 13, 2017, 06:53:58 AM »
I'm looking for a car in NY during Dec-Jan (I posted in the main thread). I have two potential itineraries either JFK - JFK 12/29 - 1/7 or NY - JFK 12/31 - 1/7 with the latter being more likely.

I've made a reservation with Avis via RentalCars.com, to collect in NJ and return to JFK. The website is non-specific about One Way fees and I've googled but can't find anything concrete. The rental reservation clearly states the price which I've prepaid and both locations though seems the small print leaves room for a fee.

Is anyone aware of what their policy may be? Will I get charged?

And... for anyone that may have / know of better deals, I'm currently on $385 for an Impala / Full size which includes CDW (I don't have a US CC for insurance). Ideally looking to collect within 20/30 mins of Monsey.

anyone have any suggestions for grocery stores that sell frozen travel meals in BA?  Also looking for private guide, driver?  Likely staying in Recoleta and going to Chabad for shabbat- is this still my best option?

A bit too late for you - apologies - but for others, we ordered meals in advance from Open Kosher which we collected frozen and took on our travels to Patagonia.

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Re: Rome Master Thread
« on: August 29, 2017, 03:48:12 AM »
I was just there at the beginning of August. We stayed at an Airbnb near the Jewish Ghetto area that had a large table and living room/dining room area.  We ordered  Shabbos lunch and dinner from Little Tripoli.  There was enough food for Shalos seudos and more.   We had to pick it  up from them ( a taxi away from the ghetto area- round trip 25 Euros) and we ate it in our apartment.
The Great Synagogue is in the ghetto area.  They daven nisoch Italia- which is not Sefardi or Ashkenazi.  My husband found it too hard to follow and was uncomfortable.  Some in this thread have found it really nice and not too confusing. There's also a Chabad and other local shuls in Little Tripoli's neighborhood.

Thanks very much, all good info!

Why Rome over Venice? Venice is a lot more popular with tourists, and as such have meals available for them.

Should rephrase, I have booked to go to Rome. The element of doubt was as potentially we'd stay outside of the city if the hotel is particularly special. However preference would be to stay central near to Shuls / food. I saw some of the restaurants do prebooked meals. Any experience?

Has anyone recently spent a Shabbos in Rome? Looking to go in a few weeks time; don't have any particular hotel points to use so will be open to suggestions of places to stay and also Shabbos food options. Can see that various food / shul options are pretty spread out. Will also be open to staying outside if the property is nice enough and ordering in food.
